Rob Bell Comes Out in Support of Homosexuality, Tells ‘Narrow’ Christians to ‘Repent’

Rob Bell, author of the best-selling and controversial book Love Wins, which challenges the Christian teaching of Hell, came out in support of homosexual marriage on Sunday and called “narrow” Christians to repentance.

According to reports, Bell was speaking at Grace Cathedral in San Francisco and delivered a message based on his new book What We Talk About When We Talk About God.

During the question and answer period, Bell was asked about his beliefs regarding same-sex “marriage.”

“I am for marriage. I am for fidelity. I am for love, whether it’s a man and woman, a woman and a woman, a man and a man,” he said. “I think the ship has sailed and I think the church needs — I think this is the world we are living in and we need to affirm people wherever they are.” ...

I think your comment was right on. The only exception is I would have said "professing" conservative Christians which I'm sure you meant anyway. Thanks for the comment.

"Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints. For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ."

makes sense, if there is no such thing as a literal hell where the smoke of their torment rises forever, then why does it matter how you live? Eat drink and be merry for tomorrow we die, let every man do that which is right in their own eyes.
Shame that he calls himself a Christian preacher. Agree with Cliff Leckey, by Scriptures comments are very well said, as well as many others in this thread.

The truth will set you free. Bell is not free and indeed is under the influence of sin and that is where his philosophies come from. Like all reprobates, the unsaved part of mankind he cannot perceive truth and the Laws and doctrines of Scripture. As 2Thessalonians states; - "10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness."
Very appropriate Scripture

So Bell like the other Liberal reprobates is deluded and cannot receive the love of God's truth. The alternative is that Bell loves Satan's vile lie and is blinded by him.

God states that homosexual practice is an abomination which "defiles" the person and the very land we live in. The hebrew for "defile" is, - "to be foul, especially in a ceremonial or moral sense (contaminated)" - So Bell wants people, church and nation to be foul and contaminated. Clearly Bell works and thinks in direct opposition to God and His creation.

R.C. Sproul Jr. argued yesterday that the U.S. has 50 million dead babies by abortion and not one Christian martyr. He predicted Christians will go down the same pike with same sex marriage.
In summary he stated:
"Of course we’ll still be busy growing “grace based” churches. We’ll still hold conferences on living gospel-centric lives. We’ll still write learned defenses of what Jesus actually said. What we won’t do is depend on His grace, while repenting of our failure to call the world to repent, as Jesus told us to do. And the world will know us for what we are, mildly annoying, but harmless."
Seeing as Mr Sproul is a wordly soul and all (note below), these are mighty fine words.

Should he not be leading by example?!!

Note: Read his stuff and see how many movies he mentions he has watched!! A professional armchair theologian who speaks fine words from time to time does not impress me.

I don't know who Mr Bell is. Other than an author, I am assuming he is a preacher? I may have listened to a few of his sermons on the RCC, or it may have been Rod Bell.
Anyway, strange days. So many men who preach, using the Bible alone, are heading South, completely disregarding God's commands. Why, why, why? Have they really fooled themselves into believing that they can assist in sending
people to Hell and then be welcomed, themselves, with open arms in the end? Very strange.

I'm glad he has made his position on this clear. It will at least rightly divide those who hold this and other anti biblical opinions from those who are faithful to God and his word. Hopefully some who disagree with him on this issue will begin to question him on other issues.
