A longtime substitute teacher in Phillipsburg, NJ, has been fired after he shared a Bible verse with a student – and upon request gave the child a Bible.
The Phillipsburg School Board voted Monday night to terminate the employment of Walter Tutka. He was accused of breaking two policies – distributing religious literature on school grounds and another policy that directs teachers to be neutral when discussing religious material.
“It’s unfortunate the Phillipsburg School District chose the path of religious hostility and intolerance against a retired man serving his community and simply responding to a student’s intellectual curiosity,” Hiram Sasser, director of litigation at Liberty Institute, told Fox News. “What’s next – are they going to ban Shakespeare because his plays have Bible quotations?”...
Denominationalism, you brought up a topic that always eats at me. The widespread seperation and infighting of the followers of Christ. Most of the differences, as far as I can tell, are non-fatal so I don't understand what the big deal is. So someone believes in a post trib and the other believes in a pre trib? So someone believes in a literal millenium, like I do, and another believes that it is within, etc...so what? I won't go any further because I just wanted to make the point that I don't see much reason for all the seperation. I do see some valid reasons for seperation within the body though. For example, I think the Charismatic camp should sit seperate because they have widdled entire doctrines out of single lines of scripture, have added to the Bible, and have given birth and their allegiance to the faith healers, false tongues, and the idea that pretty much anyone can be a prophet and have God speak directly through them. I was Charismatic in the beginning so I can speak with some authority on this . I will say though that these people were some of the most loving, caring, helpful people that I have ever known. Anyway, I guess it won't be hapenning anytime soon, but I wish we could all come together as one. What a force we could be if we were able to stand tog

It does not change the fact that there are Christian doctrines in the Catholic Church. That can't be denied. And the whore of the Book of Revelation is not one church but consists of all churches that have false doctrines in them.
Why? The kid was the one who asked for the Bible. Also, the public school system is not a neutral educational system when it comes to religion. It just teaches a secular humanist/postmodern religion. So the schools are full of religious materials, but only the ones approved by the state.
"Today, 60% of Christians change denominations within their lifetimes. And rivalry and now exists between denominations. There seems to be conflict between every group since they have nowhere left to go as they've expanded westward."
All of the thousands of denominations that originally divided from the Roman Catholic Church are discussed.
Revelation 17:16 And the ten horns which thou sawest upon the beast, these shall hate the whore, and shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and burn her with fire. 17 For God hath put in their hearts to fulfil his will, and to agree, and give their kingdom unto the beast, until the words of God shall be fulfilled.

There are also heresies, idolatries, graven images, blasphemies and many unBiblical influences in the apostate Roman Catholic organisation.

James, I'll look into it. Eschatology; study of words? End time scenarios? I'll Google it. I've actually read and listened to Revelation many, many times but I need to read and study it in a different light now. Crazy book. I take much of it literally, by the way, well, to a point. I mean I believe it from cover to cover, but I think the dragon is symbolic, along with the bird carrying the woman away, etc. Either way, I think we are in for some very strange days ahead...visually as well.
Dorcas, I was thinking the very same thing this morning. Whenever something bad happens, and it involves a Christian, I always wonder how God will use it to do something good. Especially when there is some sort of tradgedy or death involved. I think we would all be very amazed with what happens behind the scenes, in the invisible realm. I always picture billions of jigsaw puzzle pieces constanly moving around and flipping about. When something bad happens to someone who was trying to make a difference, etc, I see one of the puzzle pieces sliding into place. I see something happening, down the line somewhere, because that person made a difference, spoke out, put God first, winnessed, or even laid down their very life.
The teacher seems like they would be subject to discipline for violating school policy, but firing seems extreme, where are their union reps? As for quoting the Scripture, already a legally guarded right. What if a teacher talks about a person resigning their position because they saw the handwriting on the wall; or encouraged a person to go the extra mile; or do unto others as you would have them do unto you;or used the phrase the strait and narrow; forbidden fruit; drop in the bucket, etc. We even have a comic strip called pearls before swine. Biblical language is part of our culture.
C000, I would suggest that you look up the topic of Eschatology. Naturally things are going to get worse and worse, An Overview of Revelation would be a help to you.
If Christians are willing to let teachers passed out copies of the Koran, NWT, The Roman Catholic Bible or the works of Karl Marx then I would say go after this school district with hammer and tongs. It is a pity there weren't enough Christian children in the school that this kid could have gotten a copy of the Bible from one of them.
If she gave the child a copy of the koran it would have been ok. But Gof forbid if she gives a Bible to the child. I also bet they would allow the abominable queen James gay copy. No wonder why the judgement of this nation is gonna be more than we can possibly imagine or handle.
Christianity is not welcome in a mosque, a synagogue or a Catholic cathedral. We ought not be surprised when it is not welcome in a secular humanist church. May all Christian teachers and students remove themselves from these false houses of worship.
2 Corinthians 6:15 - And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?
Christopher, I certainly hope that with this knowledge we will learn what it means to take up the cross and follow Him. Tribulation and persecution have always been the mark of the Church. Welcome aboard. (you know that part about america is special and we won't have to count the cost, that was just tickling of the ears?)
Sickening. I have no doubt in my mind, no doubt whatsoever, that if this had been a Koran, or a Roman Catholic handing out Mary prayer beads, this teacher would still be employed today. Possibly disciplined, but not fired. Christianity, true Christianity, that is, is under assault from all directions. The followers of Christ are under fire for anything and everything. We are walking on egg shells while everyone else is tolerated, treated with respect, and basically left alone to spread destruction. The parent believes that her child receiving a Bible was so destructive and damaging to the child that she felt action was needed. Where are we living these days, in the Twilight zone?? What in the world is going on these days that mankind is falling so fast and furious? What's with everyone rejecting God and working overtime to make sure that the children don't ever end up believing the "nonscense"?
