Christian Radio Host: God Didn’t Stop CT Shooting Because We Took Prayer Out Of Classroom
Christian radio host Bryan Fischer took to his American Family Association radio show this afternoon to say that God didn’t stop the horrific Connecticut elementary school shooting spree because he does not go “where he is not wanted.”

Fischer made the case that, in his mind, God would have protected the shooting victims had there been a system of school prayer and a respect for the Ten Commandments in public classrooms.

“Where was God when all of this went down?” Fischer began. “Here’s the bottom line: God is not going to go where he is not wanted.” ...

Yes, this does have to brought down to a more personal level. I will expand on an earlier message with this sermon,
Marriage & Divorce
. What they really need to do is to get rid of no-fault divorce even before they go to gun control. A divorce is always a fault of one or both parents. The father just throwing money at his ex-wife is not what is called for in the Bible, Instructions to Husbands, Fathers and Their Wives.

Disappointed as I am in my parents' generation I know I must try to understand how incredibly tempting it must have been to live in a time when so many institutions, government and otherwise, were coming on the scene to "help" them by allowing them to delegate significant amounts of responsibility in order to "ease" their own lives and allow them greater freedom to pursue their own individual interests.

"Government" this and "government" that may sound good in the short run, but my experience is that over time such practice promotes social and spiritual atrophy in a society and its people.

Do you think that those in government schools are bigger sinners than in private schools or homeschool or you?

Whenever I read a headline like this it immediately reminds me of the faulty cause-and-effect spiritual reasoning of Job's friends, or when the disciples asked Jesus if the blind man's blindness (in the book of John) was caused by his sin or his parents' sin.

People who say stuff like this are effectively declaring their own ignorance of the Bible, or at least a woeful lack of understanding of God and all his ways.

Not just his idea; consider the Great Flood, or the final plague of Egypt (Ex. 12). Much larger bodycount, too.

I do not agree with this fellow. It has nothing to do with prayer. All of those children believed in God. Some of them were from Christians who probably prayed for them that day. School is not church or family. The death of the innocent and out of control violence rather is a sympton of the near coming of Christ like it was in the "days of Noah" violence filled the earth. The avoidance of Gods Wrath could well mean we are distracted by deception. The problem in our society is that we cannot see past the temporal, sufferings in fact produce a Godly character that ultimately results in Hope.

Our pastor read this passage this morning from Matthew 2:16-18... In part. " then Herod became furious and killed all the male children in Bethlehem and in all that region who were two years old or under." The total depravity of man was inherited by every every human being on the planet. Our Father is Light and Life. Satan is darkness and death.

I think that putting Divorce on Trial would be a good idea, but putting prayers etc., in a heathen school would have done nothing. You made good points when we consider what is in store for the world.

James 4
13 Come now, you who say, "Today or tomorrow, we shall go to such and such a city, and spend a year there and engage in business and make a profit."
14 Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away.
15 Instead, you ought to say, "If the Lord wills, we shall live and also do this or that."
16 But as it is, you boast in your arrogance; all such boasting is evil.---NASB

But, Meg, Toward What is God Moving the World?

Winter: you hit the nail squarely on the head. In fact there are very few followers of christ that submit to the word of god in every aspect of their lives. Too many feel THEY have the right to choose which commands and principles to obey as if Christ offered them as a suggestion or made them optional and one still be called a follower of Jesus The Christ.

"“Where was God when all of this went down?” Fischer began. “Here’s the bottom line: God is not going to go where he is not wanted.”"

You always get one don't you after such events.

Fischer here in effect is blaming God, by His absence, for the event. I guess his god is not omnipresent.

God is NOT 'wanted' anywhere on earth thats why Jesus taught... John 3:19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved."

As for 'reason' for this evil event, this is a fallen world and under the dominion of sin. But 99 percent of the human race do not comprehend nor understand just how evil sin is and their hearts are. So they ask where is God after an event like this and invariably come up with the wrong answer.

Jesus said;
7 Woe unto the world because of offences! for it must needs be that offences come; but woe to that man by whom the offence cometh!
and
14 Even so it is not the will of your Father which is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish. Matt 18.

I agree with the comments and will add that the little children had no part in the systematic removal of God in the school system. I don't know why things like this are allowed to happen, but I do know that God would not hold those little children responsible for the increasingly godless decisions of adult society.
I have been praying every day that as a result of this atrocity, many parents and extended family members will be reconciled to Him and that He will draw unto Himself all who will respond to His call.
I don't know why this was allowed, but while they are at their weakest, I'm praying that God will call to them and they will listen. I'm praying that their loss will result in His (and their) gain.
Contrary to some popular opinions, I believe that every one of those children are happy and more alive than ever at this very moment.

I admit to not reading all of this... but America's problems are much bigger than the removal of prayer from the government schools. Let's try repenting of the slaughter of millions of innocent babies in their mother's wombs for the last 40 years and our continual slap in the face of Jesus Christ by ignoring His Word and sending our children to the gov't schools for instruction in evolution and comprehensive sex ed., for starters.
