Huckabee: Schools ‘A Place Of Carnage’ Because We ‘Systematically Removed God’

Former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee attributed the mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in part to restrictions on school prayer and religious materials in the classroom.

"We ask why there is violence in our schools, but we have systematically removed God from our schools," Huckabee said on Fox News, discussing the murder spree that took the lives of 20 children and 6 adults in Newtown, CT that morning. "Should we be so surprised that schools would become a place of carnage?"

Law enforcement has released few details on the alleged gunman, but Huckabee suggested that the separation of church and state may have spurred his rampage. ...

Thanks Hope...I'm surprised. I guess I'd be curious to know what they mean by "Christian" since it can mean so many things these days. Either way, it's beyond me how someone who believes in life after life, judgement, etc, could be capable of killing.

Google the SA Kevin Swanson show. A guest has inerviewed 200 young killers. He said they come from Christian, non-Christian, public school and homechool families. He said being Christian didn't seem to matter.

US...I felt the same. Even more difficult when it happens so close to home. I appreciate those who commented.
I heard mental health issues mentioned, but when I hear about things like this, I can't help to blame the government, the public school system, the athiests, agnostics, and the parents. I think the teaching of the ridiculous theory of evolution combined with an increasingly Godless society are the reasons why, especially the younger generation, have become so callous, cold, and lack any empathy. We evolved from apes, and there is no God, so what is there to fear? We can do whatever we want without any repercussions since we just turn into dust and fade into oblivion. I don't know, this is just the way I see it. I blame the parents because it is their responsibility to bring up their children in Christ and the ways of Christian living.
US: what's the comment about Westboro Baptist about?

A massacre by definition is the killing of many, not one as in the instance of Cain murdering Abel. It's interesting to me that the perpetrators of these type of massacres all seem to be godless. I never hear of any of them being a devout Christian. Yet the media will never cry out to ban atheism in schools.

The first massacre happened in a homeschool environment. Able didn't know what hit him. All of that was long before evolution, public schools and Elvis.

Mr. Huckabee should consider his own spiritual roots before blaming others'.

Huckabee is going to catch Hell for this and will probably be retracting the statement within the week. That he happens to be telling the hard truth won't be taken into consideration. The tragedy happened because of the actions of one deranged man, but why is he deranged? He is the product of this society. For too long the schools have taught us that there is no God and that man is no better than an animal. We've embraced evolution and rejected God. The government allows unborn babies to be killed by the thousand on a daily basis--life is life. If the life of an unborn child means nothing, what difference does 5, 10 or 60 years make?
