Niagara Falls prophesied as site of Second Coming
The Second Coming of Christ will occur in Niagara Falls, Isaiah Robertson believes.

“The revival of Jesus Christ will start right here,” he said. “God said he would take his glory from one of the wonders of the world — and that wonder is Niagara Falls.”

Millions of Christians believe in the Second Coming of Christ, in which the Christian savior will return to earth for a final judgment of both the living and the dead.

Lance, you wrote:

Agreed in some respects. I have a partner than speaks 5 languages and as you know most Pope's speak more. The ability to use languages I've found to be very helpful, but I've also seen a substantial amount of misunderstanding from false translation.

I work in at least 4 countries with partners/customers that do not speak english, and everything requires translation. I can get auto translation from the internet, but the translations and meaning are very bad. Even when I hire two different translators to do the same document the meaning in english is sometimes very different. I have sermons translated as well into foreign languages, and the translations are different of the same sermon.

I'm not convinced with people like Jim that these bible translation giants have done any good, but I believe they have led many astray with their subtle translations and transliterations.

Walt, I think your quote from Darby's foreword illustrates what J.J. Bruce said about Darby's prose style.

If his Bible translation is like that, then it would be very hard to read.

Nevertheless, he seems to have translated the Bible into German, French and Italian. If he did all that unaided (or even if he did it aided), he must have been quite extraordinary.

Jim wrote:

"Yes, Lance, this why the Darby Bible is more accurate than the KJV."

Sure, if you are seeking a specific theology that endorses falty manuscripts based upon a textual critical mind.

The forward states:

"In my first edition my translation was formed on the concurrent voice of Griesbach, Lachmann, Scholz, and Tischendorf: the first of soberer judgment and critical acumen and discernment; the next with a narrower system of taking only the very earliest MSS., so that sometimes he might have only one or two; the third excessively carelessly printed, but taking the mass of Constantinopolitan MSS. as a rule; the last of first-rate competency and diligence of research, at first somewhat rash in changing, but in subsequent editions returning more soberly to what he had despised."

His editions beyond the first only got worse and worse to help fundamentally change a faithful translation from the majority text (textus receptus) to these critical transliterations.

You only have to look around the world and see these versions have done nothing but divide the church into the greatest schism the church has ever witnessed. To claim otherwise is being deceptive.

Interesting about Darby, Jim. I looked in J.J. Bruce's History of the Bible in English, and it mentions Darby's translation.

It doesn't say anything negative about it as a accurate translation, so I presume it was good; but Bruce says it falls short because of Darby's prose style. In other words, it's hard to read.

Yes, Lance, this why the Darby Bible is more accurate than the KJV. By the way, Darby did NOT believe in putting theology commentary intermixed with the Scripture. By the way, Dispensationalism,

http://www.sermonaudio.com/sermoninfo.asp?currSection=sermonssource&sermonID=5504173329

In the ASV preface you can see why they used Jehovah, in place of these other names, Walt. Nowadays, Yahweh, is preferred over Jehovah.

http://www.bible-researcher.com/asvpreface.html

Just look up "Jehovah" in the above and see why later versions of the bible use it or its variant, "Yahweh"

The KJV has quite a few problems, though I'm not an implacable foe of it, and I don't think the author of the following piece is either.

"Why I Do Not Think the King James Bible Is the Best Translation Available Today"

This is a another perfect example of an ordained minister of God in this generation who will do everything they can to make fun and provoke everyone to anger as they can. The whole purpose in the modern day minister is to reject most or all of history and make fun of people who see all history as God's fulfilled divine providence.

Basic orthodox Christianity has become a big joke by the vast majority of our minister today, and Yamil is an example of this type of minister. If it does not fit into his specific and define presupposition of fundamental Baptist, Arminian and Dispensational theology, it is all just a big joke.

Well folks, anyone can look around the television or read the news stories about these fundamental Baptist type ministers, and see for themselves. They might be able to reject history, but it is tough to reject the evening news.

This brand of theology is destroying orthodox Christianity, and our nation is an example of what these men are doing.

As you may know the word *fanciful* can mean unreal and imaginery. Bearing this in mind it is more appropriate in english usage, to apply it to the arminian/synergist, sinners free will salvation by works that your religion embodies.

Talking about hurricanes!!
The wind blowing through the non-Reformed churches is well described here.

Eph 4:14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

Yes, and no thanks to the Jesuits (Ribera), then J.N. Darby (Plymouth Brethren & Darby Bible) and JD's idol C.I. Scofield (Scofield Bible).

"The Darby Bible (DBY, formal title The Holy Scriptures: A New Translation from the Original Languages by J. N. Darby) refers to the Bible as translated from Hebrew and Greek by John Nelson Darby. The English version was first published in 1890. Darby also published translations of the Bible in French and German.

In his introduction to the 1890, German version, he wrote, "In the issue of this translation, the purpose is not to offer to the man of letters a learned work, but rather to provide the simple and unlearned reader with as exact a translation as possible."

In the Old Testament Darby translates the covenant name of God as "Jehovah" instead of rendering it "LORD" or "GOD" (in all capital letters) as most English translations do. Among other widely-used translations only the American Standard Version (1901) and the Jehovah's Witnesses New World Translation (1950) have followed this practice.

For some verses the Darby New Testament has detailed footnotes which make reference to his scholarly textual criticism comparisons."

Ah but Jim;
Whats the difference between one human "personal take" and another.

The PreTrib crowd are establishing their own personal take on these future events.

From the article,"Robertson has his own personal take on how things will unfold and has turned his city home, yard and church into symbols of his faith."

No, Walt, a literal interpreter of the Bible can't have his own personal "take" on what is going to happen.

Since Christians are going to be raptured, they aren't going to be gathered at Niagara, but in the air.

Gil Rugh said or, wrote:
A literal interpretation of prophecy in the Bible indicates believers can expect the rapture of the Church before the Tribulation begins.

This second part of a two-part discussion of the biblical evidence for the rapture, continues with five more reasons for anticipating a pre-tribulation rapture.

The article states:

"Robertson, a carpenter by trade, recently spent two years carving intricate designs on the wooden walls of Mount Erie Baptist Church on nearby Fairfield Avenue to illustrate stories from the Bible and symbolize Christian beliefs."

Why in the world does this not surprise me? Another Baptist premil who likely is seeing visions with literal interpretations of the bible!

The premils are waxing worse and worse!

How BLIND can people Be??? VERY BLIND
unless God opens one's eyes.

This is just more of the false teachers
and teachings of our day. Of course,
false teachers have always existed.

All one can do is read and study the
Word of God. God will reveal to us
what HE wants us to know; however, we
will never know the MIND of GOD. All
HE told us is that HE is coming back
and we believe that without trying to
figure anything out.

This guy is a genuine FALSE PROPHET

I've just been reading a book by David V. Barrett called The New Believers: A Survey of Sects, Cults and Alternative Religions.

A large part of the book is devoted to Christian-derived sects, and reading about the number that attempted to predict the Second Coming gets a bit depressing.

You'd think that, after so many wrong guesses, people would know better than to try.
