Preacher Zola Levitt dies

Zola Levitt

Jewish Christian preacher Zola Levitt died today after battling cancer, according to his ministry website.

Levitt, known for the tagline, "Pray for the peace of Jerusalem," had a television program seen on several Christian networks, "Zola Levitt Presents."

He died at home in Dallas, where he led the non-profit Zola Levitt Ministries, Inc.

Levitt was diagnosed with cancer Feb. 10, which had spread from his left lung to his liver and brain, according to his son, Mark Levitt, who posted updates on the ministry website. ...

William of Houston assumes that anyone with an 'open mind' and a 'teachable spirit' will automatically agree with him. Futher, he goes on to say that reading Hebrews will 'prove it'. Alas Brother William, many people have read Hebrews, John, etc, but nothing has ended the discussion...and still there is...NO PROOF! Does the Bible say the Old Convenant is resended...for the Jews...or is there simply a New Covenant? If the Mass is heresy then Jesus' words ("This is my blood...this is my body"), spoken during the creation of the New Covenant, are heresy too. Look who's call God a liar now?

May God's Grace comfort Zola's family and friends!

But, since we've gotten off the subject of Mr. Levitt's passing, a reading of the Book of Hebrews will prove to anyone with an open mind and teachable spirit that the Old covenant mode of worship is done away with in Christ and the Mass is not in agreement with the teaching of Holy Scripture and is therefore man-made superstitious will-worship.

The Mass with its doctrine of transubstantiation is heresy.

Christ's death was ONE TIME ONLY and can not be repeated or continued in the Mass, regardless of what the Roman Catholic Church teaches. As The LORD Jesus Christ Himself said, "It is FINISHED."

Will you dare to call God a liar with your traditions?

GG,

I agree that it boils down to how one interprets the Scripture on form of worship, or for that matter, any doctrine, discipline, or form of government.

You bring an exclusive RCC presupposition to the Scriptures, and allow her traditions to trump the true meaning of Scripture.

The only method to interpret Scripture is to use the Scripture itself, and not allow tradition to be the final authority. This is what I try to explain to my parents, and tried to explain to my former priest. The Scripture must be used to interpret the Scripture, and when tradition is declared equal with the Scripture, it makes the Scripture of non-effect.

The regulative principle of worship is not a man made tradition, but rather it is a subordinate standard to the Scriptures. It is not considered to be equal with the Scripture, like Rome makes her sacred tradition, but is subordinate to the Scripture. The Scripture is the primary standard of faith and practice, and the regulative principle of worship is subordinate.

Once it is proven using the Scripture with Scripture to be in error, then it no longer becomes a subordinate standard agreeable to the Scripture and founded upon the Scripture.

Comparing a subordinate standard with Romish sacred tradition is like comparing apples and oranges.

Walt...If I were a Puritan then I might feel more compelled to follow man made traditions like the 'Regulative principle of worship'. Since I believe that Christ commanded Catholics to re-experience his sacrifice every day in the Mass along with all the other Catholic things that he taught, your point is wasted. Once again it all comes down to how you interpret the Bible. The only charitable comment I can make is that you and I interpret it differently. Since Catholics have never practiced child immolation your Bible references don't fit.

Michael Endicott: See Malachi 1:10-12. God reprimands the Jews for sickly offerings, but predicts that one day his name will be "great among the Nations" (read-Gentiles). "From the rising of the sun, even to its setting...and everywhere they bring sacrifice to my name, and A PURE OFFERING". Only the Orthodox, sacramental Churches (ie-Catholic rites, Eastern Orthodox, etc) offer the Lord Jesus to his Father as a sacrifice and this is a re-experiencing of the original death of the Lord...once for all time. Hence, he is the "pure offering' mentioned in Malachi. Since Catholics have never practiced 'Child Immolation' your quotes are false. If God is offended by Catholic worship let him stop us, but in America we do have the right to worship.

The light of nature showeth that there is a God, who hath lordship and sovereignty over all, is good, and doth good unto all, and is therefore to be feared, loved, praised, called upon, trusted in, and served, with all the heart, and with all the soul, and with all the might.[1] But the acceptable way of worshiping the true God is instituted by himself, and so limited by his own revealed will, that he may not be worshiped according to the imaginations and devices of men, or the suggestions of Satan, under any visible representation, or any other way not prescribed in the Holy Scripture.[2]

1. Rom. 1:20; Psa. 19:1-4a; 50:6; 86:8-10; 89:5-7; 95:1-6; 97:6; 104:1-35; 145:9-12; Acts 14:17; Deut. 6:4-5
2. Deut. 4:15-20; 12:32; Matt. 4:9-10; 15:9; Acts 17:23-25; Exod. 20:4-6, John 4:23-24; Col. 2:18-23

Simply the Regulative Principle States this: True worship is only commanded by God; false worship is anything not commanded. This was the Puritan’s view of worship.

Jeremiah 32:33-35
33 And they have turned unto me the back, and not the face: though I taught them, rising up early and teaching them, yet they have not hearkened to receive instruction. 34 But they set their abominations in the house, which is called by my name, to defile it. 35 And they built the high places of Baal, which are in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to cause their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire unto Molech; which I commanded them not, neither came it into my mind, that they should do this abomination, to cause Judah to sin.

If you notice things, 'which God commanded them not, neither came into My mind.'

Apparently no one has any right to 'worship' God according to what they feel like, even if it is the Catholic Mass.

Leviticus 10:1,2
And Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, took either of them his censer, and put fire therein, and put incense thereon, and offered strange fire before the LORD, which he commanded them not. 2 And there went out fire from the LORD, and devoured them, and they died before the LORD.

Jeremiah 7:30-34
30 For the children of Judah have done evil in my sight, saith the LORD: they have set their abominations in the house which is called by my name, to pollute it. 31 And they have built the high places of Tophet, which is in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to burn their sons and their daughters in the fire; which I commanded them not, neither came it into my heart. 32 Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that it shall no more be called Tophet, nor the valley of the son of Hinnom, but the valley of slaughter: for they shall bury in Tophet, till there be no place. 33 And the carcases of this people shall be meat for the fowls of the heaven, and for the beasts of the earth; and none shall fray them away. 34 Then will I cause to cease from the cities of Judah, and from the streets of Jerusalem, the voice of mirth, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride: for the land shall be desolate.

GG,

It is not possible to convince you of any error in the Roman Catholic church as you are a hardened follower. Growing up Catholic I never become a true sole follower like my father and mother. We all admitted the RCC was not perfect, but in their opinion it was the best option God gave the world.

Fortunately, after reading the Scriptures over and over I could see that the RCC was likely not the best option God gave the world, but she was indeed the Antichrist religion.

It starts with the Roman Catholic worship that people need to question, and learn the Regulative Principle of Worship. Apply the principle to the Protestant church and especially to Rome and one will begin to see why the reformers left Rome in droves.

Incorporating into the true worship of God the old testament ordinances is perhaps the greatest testimony that the RCC is Antichrist. There simply is no other option when you look at her worship.

Walt...we rarely agree, so lets cut to the chase. Most people not just Catholics are allergic to change and would rather stick with what they know. Once again your words betray a lack of understanding of Catholicism. It is not a 'either or' choice between the Mass and scripture, for the mass is full of scripture references. Three different areas of the Bible are read from each day at Mass. Many of the responses and songs are lifted from psalms. The OT tells of animal sacrifices to make reparations for sin, the Mass is the NT version of the OT sacrifices. Only this time the sacrifice is perfect. The traditions of the Mass are therefore very scriptural. You said, "...The proper method of faithful and true worship, where man worships and praises God in Spirit and in Truth, comes from the Regulative Principle of Worship and no other...". Find that in Scripture for me and I'll buy you a new hat. Find also the Biblical definition of 'Will-worship' and its rejection in scripture. Let each man worship God as he or she feels lead to, for only God can judge the heart.

John wrote:

"msc,
I am not going to leave the Roman Catholic Church ever because I was raised Roman Catholic and I am more comfortable with the Mass then Protestant services."

This is unfortunately a statement that seems to fill most Roman Catholic followers who love the traditions of the mass more than they love the Scripture.

The protestants are the same way as they too have rejected much of the mass, but they have chosen then to bring anything into their worship...being totally unregulated and open to all sorts of error and false worship...promoting a free for all.

The proper method of faithful and true worship, where man worships and praises God in Spirit and in Truth, comes from the Regulative Principle of Worship and no other, in my opinion.

Why? Because worshipping the Lord in Spirit and in Truth by using the Scripture as our foundation, and not bringing into worship those items that do not have biblical warrant is called will-worship, and forbidden by God.

I hope we will pray for the peace of
Jerusalem as Zola so often reminded us.
(Ps. 122:6) He did not get to see that
peace which he always prayed for, yet
he is now, and forevermore will be with the Prince of Peace.
Shalom to you Zola and to your family .

Actually the title should have been Zola Levitt Evangelist, not preacher, but preacher is a pretty good reference. Tom McCall who was Zola's first mentor, I think is quite sound in his theology, and has ThD from Dallas Seminary, before it went to only a semi-dispensational stance. The worse thing I saw about Zola he wasn't a Calvinist.
From the site I do reference quite a bit, part of the article just mentioned,
"t is difficult to tell whether Zola has increased his charismatic tendencies, or whether Zola's increased charismatic associations are merely a part of his general fondness for ecumenism." If he was charismatic he didn't show it, and he did attack sacramental churches such as the Catholic Churches regularily, and of course, the PCUSA. So, the above statement is wrong, and put out the message where he could. Like many evangelists, he had sloppy theology. Oh, that reference on the RCC,
http://www.rapidnet.com/~jbeard/bdm/Cults/Catholicism/general.htm
take note John.
