Pope launches 3 toward sainthood
LORETO, Italy -- A frail Pope John Paul II put three more Roman Catholics on the road to sainthood during a visit to a hilltop shrine Sunday, struggling at times but cheered on by 200,000 pilgrims.

He seemed drained, seated in a wheeled throne in glittering green vestments, at the end of the three-hour ceremony in 86 degree heat. The large crowd broke into applause when he told them: ''The pope greets you, supports you and blesses you from the heart.''

The 84-year-old pontiff, who has Parkinson's disease and crippling knee and hip ailments, read his homily with difficulty.

He left one portion to be read by an aide. ...

Lance, I agree with Albert, this material came from other sources. I don't know if the person took some of it from several Dave Hunt's articles, but it says much of the same thing, and we do not have to go to Dave's site to look them up.

Unfortunately, it displays a truth about an apparent Catholic belief, that contributing money to the Catholic Church absolves sin no matter how the money was obtained by the giver. The most glaring examples come from members of criminal organizations that basically contained Catholics. It seems to be, though, a common idea among Catholics. If "Mother" Teresa was an honest woman, she would have never taken the money, or have given the back to the rightful owners. The information about the savings and loan president, name of Keating in California, was taken from a newspaper article.

I looking up something else, and there was a website ran by Catholics who were pleading was the Pope not to make the Spanish Bishop a saint. It was interesting to note that, they were saying much of the same thing, that the followers of Hitler said, "if he only knew, he wouldn't allow it to happen." I guess I couldn't say I found this idea amusing but I did find it, ironical, this same statement being applied to a religious leader.

i think if you read the artical again you will see that it is mostly quotes from an othere source.
maybe you should serch out the truth about m.t,but like most of romes made up saints, when you look under the veneer, you find they are rotten to the core.
the r.c system of patron saints developed out of the earlier beliefs in gods devoted to days, occupations, and the various needs of human life.
lance how can someone brought up in the system of the r.c.c,then say they are born again/converted,and there life has not changed as to the scriptures 2 cor 5-17,but are still attending and doing the same old things,is this not being hypocritical.
bible believing church?....i wonder why they used to burn bibles and those who read them,(and couldn't find any romish dogams in them).
could you tell us what church this linguistic calvanist belongs to, i would like to know what he will say to you when use come to matt 23-9 (old papa dont like this one).
rome is like the LORD says in matt 23-27=33

Jim, I took your advice and did a search on Mother Teresa at ianpaisley.org, and I didn't like what I saw.

I found the article Hell's Puppet, by Dr Clive Gillis, and as I read his words of hatred and powerless rage, I felt as though I were reading something written by Satan himself.

Far be it from me to ask what has made Dr Gillis feel like that.

Albert, In my view, I already belong to a Bible-believing church.

Mike, every week I meet with a friend, a Calvinist minister, to read the Bible. It's basically a linguistic rather than a religious exercise, since we are not reading it in English, but it brings up many interesting points for discussion.

Jim, a lot of liberal Catholics loathe Opus Dei and its founder, so naturally they weren't happy when the Pope canonised him. He taught prayer and self-denial, things that liberals hate.

i think the best thing that lance can do is to visit a good bible believing church,or even to listen to many of the good sound doctrinal sermons on this web site. :
like all those who cant refer to scripture they will try to assassinate the charactor of otheres to prove a point.

Lance,
I ask this question in all sincerity and desire to know. Do you read your Bible? I realize that with many of the references that people give on this site, if you aren't familiar with your Bible it may seem a little overwhelming. If it is, maybe you could just take your own Bible and ask the Lord to reveal His truth to you without any of our help. Sincerely,
Mike

Lance, I would suggest you look up, "Mother Teresa" in the search function of the website of:

www.ianpaisley.org

While the making of saints, have been an effective gimmick for the Catholic Church, it and relics, are not a Christian practice. Anyway, Ian has a very good commentary on Mother Teresa. You know there was a website pleading with the Pope not to make the founder of Opus Dei a saint, but Pope John Paul II went ahead and did it, anyway.

Miracles were only done during The Apostolic Age, to prove the validity of the apostles. They were neither needed or done after that Age. Anything that looks supernatural though not come from God after that era.

What does our Lord say about the traditions of man...
Mark 7:1-10 Then came together unto him the Pharisees, and certain of the scribes, which came from Jerusalem.
And when they saw some of his disciples eat bread with defiled, that is to say, with unwashen, hands, they found fault.
For the Pharisees, and all the Jews, except they wash their hands oft, eat not, holding the tradition of the elders. And when they come from the market, except they wash, they eat not. And many other things there be, which they have received to hold, as the washing of cups, and pots, brasen vessels, and of tables. Then the Pharisees and scribes asked him, Why walk not thy disciples according to the tradition, but eat bread with unwashen hands? He answered and said unto them, Well hath Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me.
Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do. And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.
I think I will obey Jesus and forget traditions.

the r.c.c bible will say the same thing as my bible regurads doctrine and trdition.
pope benedict xv,leo x11,and pius x said this "we shall never desist from urging the faithful to read the gosples,so as to gather food for their souls". (acts 17 11) it was the common people and not the priests who serched the scriptures, for it is not mans interpretation that is authoritative,it is what the bible says itself (isaiah 8-20)

Thanks for the advice, everyone. But I think I'll stick with the RCC's Bible+Tradition.

However, Albert, I've bookmarked the Lock Free Presbyterian site so I can see what they offer.

Lance, it sounds like Albert has some good information for you, I hope you will follow it.

You're quite right about the Roman Catholic Church owning their "saints." The present Pope is shelling them out like peas out of a pod.

"Mother Teresa," I didn't know she was a mother! To money from criminals who thought that they were buying some salvation by using stolen money to give to her organization. Even when this was pointed out to her, she did not return the stolen money. The so-called "miracle" that she did was highly suspect. Any miracle, after the apostolic age, is highly suspect for that matter, but the one attributed to her even more so. The Pope makes saints as dead salesmen for the Catholic Church. It is an effective technique, apparently.

if you want i can put you in touch with a church in lock south australia, or have a pastor visit you that can show you the truth of the bible without going into traditions,or you can log unto www.lockfpc.org and ask some questions yourself, the man has a very interesting testimony of how the LORD saved him,but then again you might just want to stick to the r.c.c and its pagon priests for their traditional man made truths. matt 15-19

still no scripture lance.
you cant commune with the dead saints.christ is the only mediator.so praying to them for a miracle is no good.
if the pope has read the bible, why does he teach for doctrines the traditons of men,and live in the opulance he dose ,while the poor starve and are coned to pay for masses btw can you tell me when the first pope got out of purgatory.
as for charitale works, how can a man who has more trust in idols and mary, instead of THE LORD JESUS CHRIST think charitable works will ever get him into heaven, read james 2 you might learn a thing or two.
its GODS view that counts not the reformed.
the only thing we have had from rome is the murder of millions of the saints, lies and fables, and to day it is awash with those who abouse children matt 18 -6

Albert,
I think your comments are insightful. The catholic process of canonization is rather a dubious one. The fact that after a deceased person is considered venerable, do these "miracles" take place is like putting the "cart before the horse". That is, the RCC decision to beautify the deceased appears to be the cause or the initiating step for heavenly mircles to occur. I guess the RCC dictates to the heavenly hosts.
The RCC also believes that these "miracles" are considered proof that the person is in heaven and can intercede for us. Where they get this notion from is beyond me and definately beyond the Bible.
I agree with the economic benefit that the "sainthood" practice affords to the RCC. I wonder how much money these "saints" collect for the church. What I don't wonder about is that the emphasis given to these "saints" and thier supposed intercession for believers does take away the time that should be devoted to Jesus Christ.

Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

-- "no dout there will be some miracle attributed to these three soon"

If there are no miracles, they won't be canonised.

-- "sometimes you wonder if this pope has ever read the bible"

I imagine he has. And no doubt, many times. He probably understands it even better than the Rev. I.P.

-- "as all born again believers are saints in GODS eyes"

The RCC regards the faithful on earth as part of the Communion of Saints. Those who are "sainted" (canonised) by the RCC are being held up as models to imitate.

-- "this must be an othere money making scam for the r.c.c so they can keep up the rent payments on his palaces and country retreats."

No need for rent. The RCC owns them. Perhaps you think they should be sold off to American or Japanese millionaires.

-- "while the poor sit at his gates and starve"

I guess centuries and centuries of charitable works count for nothing. But then, these are "works", so perhaps in the Reformed view of things they count for nothing anyway.
