A federal appeals court has given a Chicago street preacher permission to condinue his ministry.
Pastor Curt Teesdale and eight members of Garfield Ridge Baptist Church were handing out scripture and talking to the public about the gospel at a street festival in 2008 when police arrested Teesdale on a charge of trespassing, even though he and his church members were standing on a public street.
The charges were quickly dropped in criminal court, but the Chicago law firm of Mauck & Baker filed suit in federal court on behalf of Teesdale's constitutional rights. Attorney Noel Sterett tells OneNewsNow that when the pastor won in district court, that decision was appealed by the city....
Yes, and if witnessing and evangelism is not encouraged and promoted and engaged in, the greatest blessing on earth will never be experienced by God's people. Which is why so many are leading an unblessed life and their soul is so thin and wasted.
Proverbs 11:25 KJV 25 The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself.
One of the main reasons the Holy Ghost is in a believer's heart is so that he may witness to Christ, and declare with power what Christ has done for sinners.
1 Corinthians 2:2-5 KJV 2 For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified. 3 And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling. 4 And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: 5 That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.
Paul's example helps us, and shows that anyone can be a witness, no matter how weak, timid or fearful. Go witness and be blessed!
Lesson wrote: With the freedom that we have in this country to PROCLAIM CHRIST PUBLICLY in all of these forums, it is a shame and a disgrace that the BODY OF CHRIST is not teaching, training, supporting, and encouraging people to use this freedom. Virtually all churches, BIBLE colleges and seminaries have no instruction in how to do this. There are no books on how to be an open air preacher in your local Christian bookstore What exactly are you getting into in this ministry? BIBLICAL PREACHING in a public place unannounced, uninvited, to a crowd that might be hostile to the message, is the truest form of "front line work" that a soldier for JESUS CHRIST can engage in. This is not a pastime for those seeking popularity There is much in the metropolis to keep a street preacher busy: rock concerts, sporting events, cult gatherings, occult meetings, parades, awards shows, etc., etc.
Ok, sorry about that. Form what I know from a former missionary to England who is now taking up the voice as God's protect to the American churches about Islam, Dave Wood did get get their rights back, but liked you I uncertain about that.
I am a supporter of David Wood, e.g., The Two Faces of Islam . . . Still Smiling. If I was unclear what I mean by "corrected," the Wood's group had their rights returned to pass out the tracts. I might assume that they did -- but I'm not sure about the matter.

Amazing, such wooliness. Reminds me of anglicans - more tea, vicar? Cream cake?
Acts 17:6 KJV 6 And when they found them not, they drew Jason and certain brethren unto the rulers of the city, crying, These that have turned the world upside down are come hither also;
Sure, turn the world upside down, just so long as you don't disturb the peace of those who want to sin away their lives.
Charles Spurgeon wrote: ...If it be the gospel which is spoken, and if the spirit of the preacher be one of love and truth, the results cannot be doubted: the bread cast upon the waters must be found after many days. At the same time it must be the gospel, and be preached in a manner worth the hearing, for mere noise-making is:in evil rather than a benefit. I know a family almost driven out of their senses by the hideous shouting of monotonous exhortations, and the howling of" Safe in the arms of Jesus" near their door every Sabbath afternoon by the year together....
I assume this fellow who was pointed out is a contributor to SA, sermon-wise, not by unwise in all-caps comments, does not step over the line of disturbing the peace while street preaching.
As long as street-preachers are on on public property, not blocking it, they almost always do win their cases on constitutional grounds in this country. It is nothing unusual about that--except, City Corrals Christians at Weekend Arab Fest. I wonder if that has ever been corrected?

Thank you brother! I've just had a look, and listened to this inspirational short message about the church's witness and what it's about. Most excellent! And most encouraging, that here is a church who takes The Great Commission seriously, and who loves souls enough to get out there with gospel tracts and talk to the very people who need to hear about Jesus.
It's only 14 minutes long, but it may just inspire you to play some part in obeying the Lord Jesus Christ. God bless this church! I am no fundamentalist myself, but I would not hesitate to stand alongside this gospel ministry to the lost. Jesus is the only way back to God from the dark paths of sin.
Interestingly this pastor 'Curt Teesdale' is a member of sermonaudio as his sermons and church are listed. One would therefore think WE would be the first to care?

KJVO, what you have to realise, sadly, is that the Calvinism of today is, in most instances, nothing like the Calvinism of 1740, when The Great Commission burnt holes in the hearts of godly men and women, and compelled them (as Paul) to proclaim the gospel out in the world rather than in the comfort of the local preaching centre.
But why the Arminists are not out in force, I cannot fathom. Maybe it is for the same reason.
But whatever the reason, the church militant ought to hang its head in shame, for refusing to obey the Lord that bought them. It surprises me not that so few are interested in the outcome of this court case, simply because they are not interested in the brethren and sisters who fly a decent flag in the name of the Lord, and put their lives on the line for the Lord, that SOME might be saved.
Paul the Apostle would have some stronger words to say to the current church, so if any will think of responding with censure to this gracious post, think carefully before you vent your wrath on one who seeks your blessing through obedience.

Man, in a court of law, they'd scream with laughter at such speculation.
Now just to inform you Jim, seeing as you have such ignorance on this issue. The human voice is capable of huge decibel figures, enough to frighten off any bystanders by sheer volume. How else do you think Whitefield was able to preach to 10,000 sinners without a microphone?
And a weakly-voiced or gentle man, can use a small amplifier, say 10W or less RMS, to make his gentle voice heard, and control the volume of it, so that it comes across much less intimidating than a haranguing preacher bellowing at the top of his voice.
1. Here another church that also wins by this case; Mission Independent Baptist Church 2. http://www.streetpreaching.com/delandvictory.htm How Bible Baptist Church pastored by James Knox won in being use of God to pocect the public ministry in De Land 3.http://www.streetpreaching.com/benefits_of_public_ministry.htm Other message by James Knox about what the street ministry should do in your town. 4. I ask all people you are glad of this vitroy for the street ministry to post a comment supporting this church, or maybe sent them a email, their church website is their site there in sermon audio 5. I will be with people from Bible Baptist Church tonight so I ask you all to pray for God's blessing on that 6. And Jim get on the street and preach and see how much the world will like you 7. And there is 2 Cor 2:17 in English For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ
It looks like he's blaring out with the equivalent of a megaphone. Some what reminds you of the peddlers we have at state and county fairs.
2 Corinthians 2 17 For we are not like many, peddling the word of God, but as from sincerity, but as from God, we speak in Christ in the sight of God.---NASB
And surprising, it may to you, apparent use of the KJV is a secondary issue, though of course as have been pointed out people could very well think these are Mormons, We're Christians just like you! You've had the problem with this cult almost as long as the U.S.
But, Spurgeon's advice looks like very good advice to me.
Jim Lincoln wrote: Spurgeon attacked obnoxious street preachers, who turn people away from Christ. I ask you, what do you find wrong with, Street Preaching - C. H. Spurgeon?
Nothing wrong with Spurgeon's teaching on street evangelism; that was all part of my training before I went out on the streets preaching the gospel. Have YOU read it all, Jim? And put it into practise!
Any reason why you say that this particular Baptist preacher is "an obnoxious presenter"?
One should never condone obnoxious presenters, as the person "with a million check-in names," who was also infamous for using all capital letters on this site, was the best example of.
Even demons acknowledged Jesus, something that both Jesus and Paul silenced.
Acts 16 17 Following after Paul and us, she kept crying out, saying, "These men are bond-servants of the Most High God, who are proclaiming to you the way of salvation." 18 And she continued doing this for many days. But Paul was greatly annoyed, and turned and said to the spirit, "I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her!" And it came out at that very moment.---NASB
Spurgeon attacked obnoxious street preachers, who turn people away from Christ. I ask you, what do you find wrong with, Street Preaching -- C. H. Spurgeon?
By the way, Spurgeon preached from the AV. So, that shouldn't make you hostile to him.
