Steve Jobs's biological sister, Mona Simpson, wrote a moving and highly personal eulogy for a private funeral service for the fallen tech titan that took place a few days after his death in last month.
An acclaimed novelist, she delivered a beautifully written description of Jobs's life, illness and death. She said his last words before he slipped into unconsciousness for the last time were, "Oh wow. Oh wow. Oh wow."
Hmm, not the first thing I was going to post on this thread,
M.J. Stanford wrote: It is as Essential to Keep the Two Adams Apart as it is Israel & the Church.
from, The Journal this is from the site that, I believe, is the official repository of the M.J. Stanford papers. Is Mr. Stanford, or you, have made a perfect utterance every time you said something about Him? Probably not. Anyway, you'll find many non-flattering remarks about Mormonism in this issue of "The Journal" alone. Mr. Stanford was certainly right about, Dispensations (listen to this sermon to find out about Dispensations), and many other things as well. We are to become more like Jesus all the time, ergo, also more like God. The quotation that you say is Mr. Stanford's doesn't contradict,
Galatians 3 26 For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. 27 For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.---NASB
Mormonism Research Ministry wrote: Mormonism teaches that The Fall was a wonderful and fortunate event, empowering man with more liberty to choose (now "knowing good and evil"), with the ability to procreate, and with the opportunity to prove one's worthiness through a learning process unto personal exaltation and full potential (godhood).
M.J. Stanford taught and wrote: ā Now you can see that Satan didn't ruin or alter God's original plan, after all. As a matter of fact, God used him to bring about His purpose for you. By the fallen Adamā¦ What is God's eternal purpose for you? Remember? Hence, by means of your new birth you were re-created in the image of God.
Same liar, Same lie, different package. (Gen 3:5 ...and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.)
Repentance to these folks means admitting that being a god is better than being a human. So turn away from being human, that failing sinful race, and become god.
Those Stanfordites I know, refuse to admit thier sin against God. Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity. (2 Timothy 2:19)
Calvin and Luther would be false teachers from your definition WC, since they both preached some serious errors. They were all human, and make mistakes. Standford was right on about the Darby Version of the Bible and as far as I see about repentance. It is us to explore the Scriptures in the NASB or some other highly accurate Bible ESV, Darby, etc. to see what is correct. We at IHCC have had a series of sermons on false teachers, e.g., The Characteristics of False Teachers one of more than a dozen sermons on false teachers.
Jim Lincoln wrote: But of course no matter if he was entirely wrong...
That's really the problem, not caring if he or any false teacher is wrong or not. They are expert at feeding you just enough truth to tickle the ears...
That is very dangerous quicksand to sit in, and it feeds and breeds doubt in the true God.
They use misdirection to get you to build faith in them by offering to be the mediator between God and man.
false teacher after false teacher wrote: "the Bible is translated wrong here and there and I have the key, so what it really means is... [insert heresy and lie like: you can really save yourself without the indwelling of the Holy Spirit]". (the result of classic dispensationalism)
So just how is one saved Jim? What is the Gospel? Do you think you are going to go to heaven? Why or why not?
Jim, last time I listened to the two sermons, I never had my questions answered.....would you save me an hour or two and just post the verses from the bible that teach your pretribulation rapture? I mean, actually type them out and show where it says it? Thanks.
Miles J. Stanford wrote: The Lord Jesus did not pray that Peter might not sin, but, having fallen, that his faith would respond to His Lordās advocacy. His faithful intercession kept Peter from self-centered despair, giving him grace for true repentance, deep sorrow for his sin, purity of conscience, and restoration of fellowship.
But of course no matter if he was entirely wrong on repentance, which he wasn't, that still doesn't mean he wasn't entirely right about the Darby Bible which he was, and of course denying the Indisputable, universally recognized errors in the KJV is like saying the moon is made of green cheese.
Jim Lincoln wrote: Repentance -- Miles J. Stanford Since that's from the horse's mouth, you might point out where he is in error?
Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God. (Psalms 20:7) Neither shall ye profane my holy name...(Le 22:32) The M.J. Stanford horse has been taking the church for a ride with a subtle shift in the meaning of ārepentanceā, and who needs it. He refers to the Adamic nature as the only responsibility, ignoring the fact that our sin is personally committed against our Holy Creator God.
Jesus points out our sin is so personal and offensive to God, that even our thoughts to sin, are against God. (Mt 5:25)
David didnāt say āforgive me for being in the Adamic raceā for his adultery (āeveryone else is doing itā¦ā). Psalms 51 Against thee, thee only, have I sinned,(God has every right to Judge him)Then acknowledges he is also a sinner from birth. Concludingā¦ Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom. (Psalms 51:6)
2 Peter 2 shows the fruit of following the false ideas of M.J. Stanford and Darby.
WCR, thank you for those kind words! I too rest in the blessed hope which is the finished work of Christ. My place with Christ is assured, because his atonement was complete. And yet he will return, and will conquer the final enemy, which is death itself (1 Cor 15). All of this understanding and wisdom (not intelligence) is a gift of the Holy Spirit, and so for me, knowing Christ is a present reality and the kingdom of God has begun, being born again into eternal life. Thank you asking questions that honor God. Can we be saved without the Holy Spirit? Is salvation just intellect? These are simple questions. No, we would say, no. Good day.
Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is. (Jeremiah 17:7)
JPWā¦ your comments and diligent study are extremely edifying and refreshing and I just want to thank you! You didn't have to share these discoveries but in doing so you bring the Light of the Living Word and Holy God to this place.
Jim Lincoln, Your hatred of God's word is so very saddening, and your continual subversion is blatant. You didn't answer my question. I have no further interest in reviewing another of your Idols; I've made that mistake numerous times. Game over.
Street Preacher, I'm afraid I don't understand what you write, which leads to misunderstanding.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, (Galatians 5:22)
Westcoastreader, yes, here is a summary of what Stanford said about Repentance -- Miles J. Stanford Since that's from the horse's mouth, you might point out where he is in error?
Gentlemen, remember the Anglican Version or KJV, is a corrupted text, which is partially explained in King James Onlyism. I'll have to look up in my Darby version of the Bible, but he did a very good job of eliminating or correcting the corruptions in the AV. I would suggest that you least get a copy of the New King James Version (NKJV Bible) has done a fairly good job of correcting most if not all the more blatant errors in the AV. I would suggest you hope on your unicorn and go down to your local bookstore and if that isn't your conveyance get off your *** and pop into that store and pick up a copy.
Compare: REV.11:12-14; REV. 14:15-20; REV.16:13-21 These seem to indicate the same time period, but also that there is more time to come after their fulfillment. Not a dispensationalist. For your consideration.
Proverbs 8:14 Of the Lord.... KJV I am understanding Darby I am intelligence
Most shocking to me was the verses where "going to pass" (KJV) were changed by adding the word "about to come to pass" or "shall be revealed" to "about to be revealed". And it makes the Word of God seem to be wrong, if Jesus said its "about" to happen and its been 2000 years, or the time of Darby, but it hasn't happened yet.....good to know that it is an issue of the translator not a problem with the Word of God.
1 Peter 5:1, Matthew 16:27, 2 Tim 4:1, Acts 24:25, Luke 21:36, Luke 24:21, Heb 10:27, 1 Thess 3:4, Rev 1:19, Rev 2:10, Rev 3:10, Rev 3:16, Rev 6:11, Rev 8:13, Rev 17:8, 1 Thess 1:10
Mr. Jim, Miles J. Stanford didn't even believe in Repentance, unless you are a Jew. Go ahead and read all of the "Green Letters" and verify that claim. ( false doctrine in there)
I know Stanford-ites who are at this moment writing books on why Repentance is a false doctrine for Gentiles. Others who visit Eastern Religion for healing (acupuncture and 2 of them died from cancer), some who refuse to turn from their sin because Jesus will take it from them if he wants them to quit.
So can you show me where the Bible teaches that a person can really save themselves, without the indwelling of the Holy Spirit?
Please... take some time to consider this before you just start quoting more men!
If folks are going to go off into the Dispy debate, can I bring up something equally tangential? Appleā¢ abandoned the IEEE-754 80-bit Extended data type with their introduction of PowerMacs, which were limited to 64-bit Doubles, then later reverted BACK to the Extended type with their Intel Macs, which still have the i80x87 coprocessor upon which the IEEE-754 standard was based!
Microsoftā¢ uses the same CPU in Windows, yet it is *impossible* to declare a long-double (80-bit Extended) variable in Visual Studio, because of a stupid executive decision Gates made years ago. So Microsoft is preventing its customers from using hardware they paid for! You have to install Cygwin instead to take advantage of it.
