The petition to let Texas secede from the U.S. to be reviewed by the White House

As of 3:40 p.m. ET, more than 25,000 Texans have already signed the petition on The White House website to let Texas peacefully secede from United States of America and ‚Äúcreate its own NEW government.‚ÄĚ

The petition, created on Nov. 9, argues for secession.

We should let them go. We will make up the numbers with Puerto Rico.

Indeed, preach the gospel to all nations (Gentiles). But Jesus also taught....

Jhn 3:36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

.... so entire nations (countries as you seem to interpret the word) will never become Christian because not all will believe.

By the criteria you answered Dietcan's post, you have described the commonwealth of Israel, and the better promises, which God has been building since the first century.

Again I ask, why attempt to duplicate what God has already established 2,000 years ago (the kingdom of God aka the commonwealth of Israel), not at the end of days as you seem to imply?

Gotta go. I'll check in tonight.

Lincoln didn't call for troops until SC commenced hostilities by firing on a Federal fort. If that wasn't a "casus belli" requiring a military response, I don't know what is. Presumably a new Republic of Texas would not be so stupid. If you want the moral high ground, let your opponent strike the 1st blow.

As I said before, being on the losing side of a Presidential election is not a reasonable ground for secession. It is the essence of anarchy, as Lincoln said. If Texas really cared about Federal tyranny, they should've seceded back in the '30s, or at least the '60s. But maybe they couldn't resist all those wonder transfer payments (welfare, subsidies).

Govt owns 30% of US land. Open it to farms & development. Means more revenue for govt, too.

But, govt is against independence, wants dependence, personal and State.

Texas is a producer State. Govt needs it to pay for non-procucer States like NY, so would not like secession. Would hear speeches about unity, fair sharing, etc. Would send troops to defend Union from "treason."

Such a commonwealth already exists (Eph 2:12), Angela. God is the builder and maker thereof (Heb 11:10). Why would you support an attempt to duplicate God's handiwork which can't possibly succeed?

This is a perfect example of what distinguishes Puritans from Pilgrims.

Dear Dietcan,
A Christian nation or commonwealth is going to explicitly acknowledge Jesus Christ as Lord and the Christian religion as the true religion in it's founding documents. It will then base it's laws on Biblical Principles and actual laws as found in Scripture which would be applicable to today's society. What does a nation do with unbelievers? I suppose the same as Israel did... One certainly doesn't persecute them, but if they don't have a Biblical Worldview, then they certainly couldn't be elected as leaders. Anyway, this is just my opinion and there are better minds out there who can work through these details. Sadly, I can't think of any present examples of truly Christian nations or I would be clamoring to move there.

I also support their efforts.

The reality is that it probably cannot happen.

I believe the current intention as seen from Lincoln movie coming is this scenario and infighting. while the stock market goes down, hyperinflation finally hits, the healthcare causing people to be fired small business to be destroyed, and the left and right so ignorant of how this happens -- will start to steal from each other to survive.

all the talking heads have openly stated their ultimate goal is eugenics and depopulation. georgia guidestones.

If people were living off their land, such as they did during the depression, they can get through transition.

people are on food stamps, forms of gov subsistence. cut off the state, they cannot survive.

its looking like that may happen anyway, (cut subs) and when the masses realize this, maybe they can sway to open up the land again, prob not.

people getting cited for growing gardens in the front yards, chicken ordinances that are prohibitive, high land taxes, arresting raw milk providers.

I'm telling you all, being able to feed your family is the beginning of independence.

the writers of the Cohn were farmers.

the middle class growth of america was built off of opening the land (which was stolen from the Indian Tribes).

Folks, if the separation is from tyranny and in order to serve God as in forming a Christian Commonwealth or Christian nation, then I'm all for it. But if these states want to secede in order to be mini versions of America with more conservative or libertarian values, then I advise extreme caution. In other words, if you are going to lay down your lives, make sure it is for something that will last and brings honor to Christ - not a temporary fix. Frankly, I don't think the people advocating secession are for the most part Christian and they'll not get my support.

As a liberal I believe that all power should be devolved to the lowest possible level so that people can run their own lives.

Good to see Texas go Liberal!

I have come around to support the secession of Texas from the union after reading the Satanic garbage about this story on the Facebook page for the Democratic Party. I will go even further and suggest that every other state that is tired of the liberals pushing their Satanic agendas of abortion and homosexuality to secede from the union.
