FAU student says he was suspended for not 'stepping on Jesus'

A student at Florida Atlantic University's campus in Davie says he couldn't believe what he and his fellow students were asked to do by their instructor three weeks ago.

Ryan Rotela, a junior from Coral Springs at FAU, said what happened was an insult to his intelligence.

He said the instructor in his Intercultural Communications class at FAU told everyone in the class to take out a piece of paper, write the word JESUS on it in bold letters, and then put the paper on the floor and stomp on it. ...

John/UK,
I would love to read his posting history on those other forums. I'm sure he is hard at work telling fellow Catholics that the Mass itself, along with most of the churches doctrines and rituals are heresie. I'm sure he is an open book, letting them all know that he only takes part in the scriptural parts of the mass as well.
I too would be interested to hear from the man himself what sort of things he posts on the Catholic web forums, and what moniker he uses there.

How 'bout it, John?

No, I never read or post while driving...unlike some I see while driving. I have seen people eating with one handand reading a paper with the other. Yikes

BTW: Good to hear from you, John.

What a disgrace.
Just who do you and all the other Evangelical Protestants on here think you are to state that because I don't attend an Evangelical Protestant Church that I am not saved? Where in the Bible does it state that one who is Born Again must belong to an Evangelical Protestant Church or they are really not saved?

Scriptural Mass...oxymoron?
I am so angry that I have sat on the sides of roads typing out post after exhaustive post, only to find out that he has been playing this game for a long, long time. No more.
We surely hope you are not reading SermonAudio as you are driving down the road

My goodness, 10+ years of this without the slightest hint of progress; without even a question, etc.
Ha! It's true. But at least John is sticking to one moniker now; he used to keep changing it.

But he doesn't hang out here, he has Catholic forums as well, where he argues his case also.

Eh John?

Not a wise choice when he is already spiritually blind!

Look at me

John Yurich!

A head in a bag isn't wise!

Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.

Popery and ecumenism...the blind leading the blind

John Y problem seems to stem from a love for Catholic liturgy and ladies. But we would ask, what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his own soul, our prayers go that he may be truly born from above.

Maybe you would like to introduce yourself, Grace, and tell me your position on justification. This is the one key issue when we are considering eternal life or eternal death.

Perhaps the facts you present would be suitable for a person who is able to be reached intellectually, not everyone thinks as you do. Catholicism tends more toward feelings and emotions ....

Hi Grace, this quote from you is what I was responding to. If a Roman Catholic won't be reached with facts, how would I, or anyone, appeal to the emotional addiction? My question is whether or not there is another approach, aside from just laying out Biblical facts as we do.
To me, anyone who is truly born again cannot possibly remain within the Roman system. Neither can they avoid the unscriptural parts of the mass because everything is so intertwined.
Once in a great while, he will respond to someone with one of three repetitive sentences, but he never responds to me, never asks questions, never has anything for his own defense, etc...I don't know, if I had so many people telling me that I was wrong along with the danger I was in, I would open my Bible to begin an investigation. That's what's frustrating to me because I don't get it.

John Y - make yourself known to those around you - in your parish.

Christians don't hide their true beliefs from those around them.

But sometimes I don't think you are a Catholic John Y.

How do you know John Y John UK? It seems a rather odd thing to confide all of a sudden? If you know him then are you two just playing a funny game on a Christian website? Or are you JY and JUK?

There are only so many possibilities John's.

People can be addicted to religion just like people can be addicted to drugs or drink or food. People can be addicted to posting on forums.

Under know circumstances make yourself KNOWN to people on the internet John. Make yourself known to people who can see you and put in a context.

You can search here on SA for sermons on witnessing to Catholics. www.bereanbeacon.org has some good stuff too. Seek and you shall find...

However, there is no formula.

The Good Person Test (http://areyouagoodperson.org/, www.NeedGod.com) is a universal questionaire you can give to get people thinking.

Learn the Scriptures that teach man's utter lostness and that his righteous deeds are filthy rags. Then you can counter works-righteousness...which is everything outside of Biblical Christianity.
