Rick Warren Uncertain if Homosexual Behavior is Sinful, Says ‘Gays’ Go to Heaven
Controversy is stirring over recent comments made by Rick Warren, author of the best-selling book The Purpose-Driven Life and megachurch leader of Saddleback Church in California, who stated that homosexual behavior “might be” sinful, and that he believes homosexuals go to Heaven.

During an interview this week with the Huffington Post, Warren was asked by Marc Lamont Hill if having romantic feelings for a member of the same sex is a sin. Leading up to the question, Warren was explaining that he does not hate homosexuals, and that people should disagree politely on the subject of homosexuality.

“I have many, many gay friends, and have worked around the world with them in gay organizations to try to stop AIDS,” he said. “We’re doing ‘World AIDS Day’ this weekend at Saddleback Church. My wife and I have given millions of dollars to help people with HIV/AIDS and have worked with gay organizations on ...

All Is Forgiven: The Secular Message in American Protestantism

"Marsha G.Witten [not a Christian] offers an in-depth analysis of preaching on an important New Testament text: the Parable of the Prodigal Son. She finds that the transcendent and awesome God of Luther and Calvin -- whose image informed early Protestant visions of the relationship between humans and the divine -- has been greatly softened in demeanor in American Protestant [PCUSA & SBC] churches, with only some resistance from "conservative" traditions." Princeton University Press (December 1993)

The evangelical message: God's nice, we're nice so let's all be nice. There's now no difference between Unitarians, the PCUSA and Southern Baptists. Grace is never a surprise, it's an 'Of course you're saved! We're all saved!'

Dr. Michael Horton on this MTD ...

Yes it is sin. It is wrong. Hey Rick warren, try struggling with it like I do , then you will without a doubt know it is wrong, it is sin, it is hell. The pain no one sees, crying by yourself wishing you could be straight. Id rather God to take my life than live one more day gay. I hate it. It's wrong. In my heart I know it's wrong. Somebody, anybody please pray for my deliverance, please.

The new normal. Perfectly named title.
I am aware of some of these TV sitcoms, Christopher, even though I can't be sucked into them.

The really disgusting part is that they air during prime time so the kids are indoctrinated into this filth. Fortunately, my kids are grown but my concern is for my grandchildren.

What a Godless age we live in.

I remember the time, as a kid, that you wouldn't even see a woman's belly button on the TV if she wore a bathing suit or a top that exposed a bit of midriff such as Mary Tyler Moore often wore on currently aired reruns of the old Dick Van Dyke show.

And now.... disgusting.

Good morning Mike.

Was that to assist me in posting the conclusion? I was out of space, and then I had to turn in.

Observe:

1 John 4:13-14 KJV
13 Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.
14 And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world.

It behoves us all to be involved in some small way, for if "the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world", and then Jesus commands to "go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature", there is something wrong if the gospel message is only ever preached in a building to which sinners will not resort.

Frank.

Yes we do have commercials in Wales, but we call them adverts. And there is much obvious insanity in those who make them. Yet they must be effective, for them to keep using them. The moral barriers are being broken down, bit by bit, and I shudder to think what they will be like in ten years time. The slippery slope started off at a small gradient, but now it is increasingly becoming vertical, a sheer drop, with no returning. And it affects people without them realising it, making it propaganda.

Yes, it is Greek! I don't own any of those things, but my wife does.

John UK. Boy are you ever a "wise" fellow. I have always said the media controls the mind and thinking of the naive. In fact, I have often thought that "worldly" life was like a commercial with someone simply trying to sell us something. I would call them sophists, whose only job is to convince us of something and it doesn't matter if they are correct or not. Whoever has the most widgets wins. Do they have commercials in Wales? My personal thoughts are that I am not reluctant to learn about someone, but not necessarily from someone. I even listen to the Catholic channel on occasion.

Aye, we'll take the blame for it. The English we use has hundreds of quaint expressions which I doubt the tuition books teach.

I'm enjoying reading the posts, and appreciating those from Frank and yourself, oh and my old pal Dopey, of course, and my aged brother Lurker. May God grant us all good health enough to serve him acceptably, in whatever way he chooses for us. And may he keep us from despondency in these ever increasing wicked times in which we live. I put it all down to the media, especially the TV set, which has been utilised by the devil to transform the minds of those who watch it. Little by little, here and there, increase the bad and release the good, desensitise the human, make him believe in evolution, and before you know it, folks think nothing of dying, coz "that's all there is, folks". How sad to see it happening all around us, with barely a chirp from the People of God.

Now I can understand the Frenchy not evangelising, coz God's gonna save all the elect. But where are the...

Christopher, Well, if you ever need more private interaction, that is why I include my email. But, for now ponder the following. Remember what God said about His Jewish remnant, is true for us. Christ only has one bride. We are now children of the most high; the God and creator of everything. Just think, He is now our Father! The below italics are mine.

John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the "sons of God", [even] to them that believe on his name: 13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

Romans 8:28 And we know that "all things" work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to [his] purpose.

Isaiah 41:10 Fear thou not; for "I [am] with thee: be not dismayed; for I [am] thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness."

Isaiah 43:4 Since thou wast "precious" in my sight, thou hast been honourable, and "I have loved thee": therefore will I give men for thee, and people for thy life.

Hi Frank & Dopey...thanks for your comments and reminding me that I'm not alone. Sometimes when people try to tell me how bad they were and what they had to overcome, I find out that their experience of overcoming has to deal with anything but the darker side of life so they really can't relate...sounds like you can.
I totally understand the "high" you mentioned that some experience, ride on for a while, and then they get their reality check. I'm not on that high, but just the opposite...major depression for the past almost year. Everything I did and everything I was about had to change and I was left not really knowing who I am and in a state of lethargy and depression. I had to go cold turkey emotionally, chemically, all my daily habits had to change, etc. Although I know exactly what it is, I never experienced that new, born again, I can take on the world, high....quite the opposite. Because of that, I know that my deliverance isn't temporary or a placebo effect...the drugs are gone, cold turkey, and the other thing, well, no desires whatsoever within the past year. I'm realistic though, and being a wretched, sinful, fallen man, I'm not fooling myself into thinking that I'll never be tempted again...I'm sure I will, but this is different. The two major problem areas i

That depends on how one looks at the matter. You became a new "I" 32 years ago
and I became a new "I" 39 years ago. 32 and 39 are not too old.

Anyway, thanks for your testimony. It is very similar to mine and my guess is very similar to many who were saved later in life (beyond childhood)
