FAU student says he was suspended for not 'stepping on Jesus'

A student at Florida Atlantic University's campus in Davie says he couldn't believe what he and his fellow students were asked to do by their instructor three weeks ago.

Ryan Rotela, a junior from Coral Springs at FAU, said what happened was an insult to his intelligence.

He said the instructor in his Intercultural Communications class at FAU told everyone in the class to take out a piece of paper, write the word JESUS on it in bold letters, and then put the paper on the floor and stomp on it. ...

Since you only believe in fellowshipping with unbelievers it is a reasonable assumption that you are one yourself, John Y.
I don't fellowship with anybody at the local Catholic Church that I attend. Where did you get the idea Jim Lincoln that I fellowship with individuals at the local Catholic Church?

Say the Mormon church taught the Bible as it is; creation, Christ, and everything from A-Z was right on target. However, in addition to the Bible, they still taught every filthy thing that they do today, adding many extra-Biblical doctrines and rituals. Would it be okay for me, a born again Christian, to remain within the Mormon church? Would it be okay for me to just listen to the scriptural parts but cover my ears and go, "la-la-la", everytime they do or speak other abominable things that they consider necessary or doctrinal? Would it be okay for me to take a Morman woman as my wife? Would it be ok for me to put on my magic underwear, make a promise to Moroni, throw magic angel dust up into the air, and then just ask Christ for forgiveness after?

I don't understand how this scenario is any different.

Sorry, SteveR...I thought the poster had some inside, secret info, since he seemed to out you so matter of factly.

Anyway, those quotes somewhere below. That mention born again Christians being able to remain within any church as long as the church preaches Christ...I don't get that. I'm not saying that anyone needs to move to any particular denominational church, but I am saying that they must leave to join a church that preaches and teaches the Bible as it is, without adding to or taking away from it. The Roman Catholic church, for example, is provably filled with every abominable thing. How does a truly born again, regenerated Christian reconcile and rationalize remaining within a system that is so filled with bonafide, provable heresies? How can they attend, week after week, probably supporting them financially, when God Himself condemns most of their doctrines, dogmas, and rituals? When God calls his people to come out of her? When their eternal city, the Vatican, is prophesied about by God Himself?
Since God calls His people to come out of her, I believe that there are born again Christians within the system, but I believe that they must be new, immature Christians who just don't know any better yet? No mature Christian who cares what God has to say could possib

Very poorly, as Im not the poster 'grace.'

While you might enjoy using multiple names, normal people here dont. Even the most abominable pagans in cyberspace frown on that form of message board deception, not to mention your loathesome propensity for false accusation. I havent even read this thread, but will guess your narcissistic personality disorder & perverted sense of 'Christian love' was the catalyst for this latest conflict.

I remember him well and fondly, John. I recall the good times you and he had here in the final months of his life. You were a blessing to him in his time of need.

When he quit posting I searched for him elsewhere on the web and found that he had registered at "The Highway" discussion forum but never posted. I suspect that was about the time he went on to his long home. But alas, we shall meet again.

Thanks for mentioning Norman, Mike. Ah.... can't remember his dear wife's name. (Searching the grey matter......) Naomi (That's a real victory for me because for the past couple years recalling names from the past is proving more and more difficult. )

Walt, Yamil and JD. Indeed, they kept things interesting. I still miss JD. He was very well studied, biblically, and never backed down from a discussion.

"Personally". Since you knew Walt, Yamil & JD.... did you post back then with a name/moniker we may remember?

I knew that John but wanted to know from "dustinthewind" what biblical grounds he felt he had to say those harsh things.

Appreciate you quoting the verse in context and demonstrating that there is no mention of grace or mercy.

Mike/New York - excellent post.

If a Catholic receives..
Actually that quote and the other from 2004 do not advise that one has to be a member of Protestant church to be saved. The problem with using the Martin-Llyod Jones quote is that there is no way it can be said of John Y that he is not theologically proficient enough to not see the errors of Rome, they have pointed out for years. God says in His Word, that if say we know Him and walk in darkness, we lie and do not the truth. A truly born again person would realize that two cannot walk together except they be agree. We are not called to follow the deceitfulness of our own heart but to walk in truth. John Y has chosen to love those who have persecuted to the death those who have been redeemed. They know not God and are unbelievers. Yet that is who he wants to teach him the truth of God???? And really, how gracious are we if we do not warn someone to flee the wrath to come but advise them they can continue in error. Catholics do NOT worship the God of the Bible, they worship a god of their own making. A truly born again person would come out and be separate and not touch the unclean thing. We should love what God loves and hate what He hates.

Dustinthewind, sometimes we have to shake the dust off the Word.

The Word conveys this:

Grace: God giving someone that which he does not deserve.

Mercy: God withholding from someone that which he does deserve.

So what is the grace that you do not deserve that you are complaining about not receiving? And what is the mercy that you deserve that you are complaining about not receiving?
