Washington Cathedral: 'Church Of Anything Goes'

At the Washington National Cathedral, Rev. Gary Hall announced last Sunday that he had discovered a sin unknown to hundreds of churchmen before him. ‘We must now have the courage to … call homophobia and heterosexism what they are,’ he said. ‘They are sins. Homophobia is a sin. Heterosexism is a sin. Shaming people for whom they love is a sin.’

“Mr. Hall, dean of Washington’s most prominent Episcopal church, criticized the role that some churches have played in oppressing young lesbians, gays, bisexual and transgendered youth. ‘It is not only just OK to be gay, straight, bisexual or transgendered,’ he said. ‘It is good to be that way, because that is the way God has made you.’”

That absolutely astounding theological and biological conjecture surely raises the question: Why has Dean Hall limited God’s (alleged) alternative sexual creationism to homosexual, bisexual and transsexual? ...

The remarks to John Yurich from Thomas D
are totally rude and do not belong on a Christian forum.

C, never been RCC, but thanks for your concern. I don't believe I was giving the gospel there. go right ahead.... (certainly better than hurling unacceptable insults at JY)

Penny, you need to read again, Christian Zionists: The Real Terrorists? Ah, no. Or read it the first time.

Again of course I would point out to John Y.

Mike Gendron wrote:
1. Its worship is idolatrous
2. Its dogmas condemn Christians
3. Its rituals are rooted in paganism
4. Its authority is not divine
5. Its doctrines are demonic
6. Its teachings deny Christ
excerpt from, Come Out Of The Catholic Church. Still something for you to read, John Y., or any other Catholic who has the desire to become a Christian. Are We Really Catholic Bashing? ---No.

Here's strait from the Vatican it's self:

DEVOTION TO THE BLESSED VIRGIN

971 "All generations will call me blessed": "The Church's devotion to the Blessed Virgin is intrinsic to Christian worship." 515 The Church rightly honors "the Blessed Virgin with special devotion. From the most ancient times the Blessed Virgin has been honored with the title of 'Mother of God,' to whose protection the faithful fly in all their dangers and needs. . . . This very special devotion . . . differs essentially from the adoration which is given to the incarnate Word and equally to the Father and the Holy Spirit, and greatly fosters this adoration." 516 The liturgical feasts dedicated to the Mother of God and Marian prayer, such as the rosary, an "epitome of the whole Gospel," express this devotion to the Virgin Mary. 517

John Y, do you not concede that is blasphemy, and has no basis in Scripture?

John Y, Catholics pray to Mary, which would make her a deity. Grace is an attribute of God, not Mary. She was simply a vessel to give birth to Christ. If Catholics don't worship her as a God, why do they bow down to her, pray to her? Catholics refer to her as Mary, queen of heaven. That's blasphemy.

Penny...we're you ever RC? It's much more than "even good things can become an idol".
They are taught a works salvation gospel that saves no one.they need to hear the true gospel of grace not that as long as they
remember Christ is King they are fine. Some on this forum are deliberately misleading people concerning the religion of Rome.
People in that system need to hear truth not sugar coated spiritual lies.

No, as a RC I went to church school. That part of Jesus who was a human child was born of Mary. The eternal God who came to Earth and became man had no mother.

Boy, oh boy. The Roman machine had indeed diefied Mary; making Christ subservient to her. I can very easily prove this, John, as I have so many other times during my time here. I can and have proven it many times over using Romes own words, along with those of past Popes to try and convict them. I really wish you, one day, would simply entertain the idea that maybe we're not off our rockers and insane and just do a little research. You refuse to do it because you're afraid that your comfort level may be disrupted.
Mary, according to Rome, co-redeemed mankind...say what? Mediates alongside Christ. ..say what? Possesses powers that are reserved for God alone...say what? Is everywhere at once...say what? Is worthy to be actually prayed to...say what? Is in charge because Christ cannot resist her pleas...say what? Is all powerful because, again, according to Rome, there can be no salvation without Mary...say what?...and I could go on. Mary is undeed the diefied Queen of Heaven. Christ has become her subservient puppet, who must do her bidding, and God, well, God, "her son" is just hanging out watching it all go down, I guess, since His mother Mary has been given charge of all things on Earth.and in Heaven.

How is the notion that the RCC has deified Mary, stupid? That is what Catholicism teaches. I've seen catholic paintings of Christ on one side of the cross, and Mary on other. They believe Mary is the Co redemtrix. Its all in their Catholic catechisms. "Hail Mary mother of grace." You don't think that's blasphemy or idolatry? I've seen multiple pictures of someone carrying a statute of Mary down a crowded street and the masses along the side of the street bowing down and worshipping the image. Don't tell me your so blind as to believe that Catholics don't deify Mary. If Catholics worshipped the real Jesus, they wouldn't be part of a diabolical system of belief that bladphemes our Lord Jesus Christ.
The RCC does not teach anywhere in the Catechism that the Virgin Mary and the Saints are gods. And it is not "Hail Mary mother of grace". It is "Hail Mary full of grace" which is scriptural because that phrase comes directly from the Gospel of Saint Luke. Luther and none of the Protestant Reformers believed that the RCC believes the Virgin Mary and the Saints are gods. I have a Baptist friend and he does not even believe that the RCC believes the Virgin Mary and the Saints are gods.
