Church billboard: was Jesus gay?

Jesus may have been progressive in more ways than one, according to a new billboard in Auckland.

The St Matthew in the City billboard, which is released each Christmas, this year depicts the baby Jesus in his crib surrounded by a halo of rainbow colours.

"It's Christmas," the billboard reads. "It's time for Jesus to come out."

Reverend Glynn Cardy said the sign was about trying to lift the humanity of Jesus.

THAT is NOT the same "struggle" as mortals/sinners have.
I am surprised at you John!!!
1John 3:5 And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.
How can you "struggle" with something which is not in you???
As I see it, you are preaching heresy.

Observe:

"...but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin".

Note particularly the words "like as we are".

That means "like as we are".

Very interesting John, that is why I was so careful to use the word struggle instead of being tempted. The Strong’s on verse 15 follows.

3985 peirazo pi-rad'-zo from 3984; to test (objectively), i.e. endeavor, scrutinize, entice, discipline:--assay, examine, go about, prove, tempt(-er), try. see GREEK for 3984

I’m not exactly sure that the Christian community could come together on what Christ’s temptations were and to what extent He was tempted. I have always thought that the term “in all ways” didn’t have to mean in all manner of sins. I tend to think that verse was referring to Satan’s temptations in the wilderness which pretty much encompassed anything that mankind can be tempted with in generalities, but not in specifics. Now to what extent Christ was tempted to succumb to Satan’s offers is unknown to us. Scripture simply says He rejected those temptations outright. In other words, He didn’t struggle and weigh what Satan was offering Him against doing the desires of His Father. But, you are very correct; in some manner our Savior was tempted like we are.

Obviously you are not a Christian.
Christ did not "struggle" with sin. To imply such is to suggest that Christ was a Sinner like mortals are. Jesus was God the Son of God and was entirely sinless.

God's Holy Word the Bible states.
22 Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:
23 Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously: 24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. 1Peter 2.

If you want to become a Christian then Pray to God in the name of Christ Jesus, the Son of God and study the Bible.

I would say that Christ never "struggled" with the temptation to commit sodomy. The same as He never struggled with Pedophilia or beastiality.

I'm sure there are many different thoughts about His temptations, but the only ones that I have ever heard that said He was tempted to commit sodomy are some of the Charismatics. But I'm sure there are others.

John UK - hello Brother. Yes, when the lost come face to face with Him and see His perfection and understand His sacrifice; I can't imagine their sense of worthlessness, along with the fear and anguish of what is certain to come.

I'll take a look at Revelation 4 later.

Luke 21:26 Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.
Matthew 16:27 For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.
Yea and amen! I have been reading Revelation 4 this week bro, and I found it very sobering, to imagine what the very and awesome presence of God is like. I am glad that John was given a glimpse into heaven to behold the awesomeness of it all. It is making me think twice about the singing in a church service. And about the chitter-chatter before and after a meeting.

"Reverend Glynn Cardy said the sign was about trying to lift the humanity of Jesus.
"The fact is we don't know what his sexual orientation was"

This so called "reverend" demonstrates that Liberalism comes directly from Satan.
May the Lord Rebuke them!

Lev 18:22 Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.
24 Defile not ye yourselves in any of these things: for in all these the nations are defiled which I cast out before you:
25 And the land is defiled: therefore I do visit the iniquity thereof upon it, and the land itself vomiteth out her inhabitants.

psalm 79:1 A Psalm of Asaph. O God, the heathen are come into thine inheritance; thy holy temple have they defiled; they have laid Jerusalem on heaps.
2 The dead bodies of thy servants have they given to be meat unto the fowls of the heaven, the flesh of thy saints unto the beasts of the earth.
3 Their blood have they shed like water round about Jerusalem; and there was none to bury them.
4 We are become a reproach to our neighbours, a scorn and derision to them that are round about us.
5 How long, LORD? wilt thou be angry for ever? shall thy jealousy burn like fire?
6 Pour out thy wrath upon the heathen that have not known thee, and upon the kingdoms that have not called upon thy name.

"The St Matthew in the City billboard, which is released each Christmas, this year depicts the baby Jesus in his crib surrounded by a halo of rainbow colours."

The homosexuals claimed the rainbow as their own in recent years and because of that Jesus' sexuality is questioned? By a church!

The rainbow symbolizes the glory of the Lord.

Eze 1:22 **And the likeness of the firmament upon the heads of the living creature was as the colour of the terrible crystal, stretched forth over their heads above.**

Eze 1:26 And above the firmament that was over their heads was the likeness of a throne, as the appearance of a sapphire stone: and upon the likeness of the throne was the likeness as the appearance of a man above upon it. 27 And I saw as the colour of amber, as the appearance of fire round about within it, from the appearance of his loins even upward, and from the appearance of his loins even downward, I saw as it were the appearance of fire,

**and it had brightness round about. 28 As the appearance of the bow that is in the cloud in the day of rain, so was the appearance of the brightness round about.** This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD.

What else will the perverts steal without so much as a peep from professing Christendom?

May they be rubuked and repentance granted to them for thier rebellion and evil, and if they harden their hearts may justice fall upon them for blapsheming the Holy Name of Christ.

Does not anyone fear almighty God anymore?? I can understand an athiest posting up something like this for a laugh, but a man of the cloth? A man who supposedly believes, and preaches from the Bible?? How can there be a any question in his churches mind when the Bible is explicit, throughout, about the practice of homosexuality and the eternal end of its practioners?
What denomination is this guy from and doesn't he have any fear of God?? I just can't believe the things that I'm reading and hearing these days. I just can't believe how unholy, dark, and even black the souls of mankind are becomming...the souls of those who say they believe in God, the Bible, etc. I just can't imagine...
