Student Body President at Northwest Christian University Denounces Christian Faith, Declares Himself Atheist

The president of the student body at Northwest Christian University publicly announced that he has been a longtime atheist despite his enrollment at the Oregon-based college and is now urging Christians to practice what they preach by becoming accepting of those who do not fit their same "pattern."

Eric Fromm, 21, published an article last week in his school's news website as his way of denouncing his former Christian beliefs. He says he was an atheist before enrolling as a student but decided to attend the 600-student university because of his interest in its communication program.

"I was baptized Lutheran, and raised Methodist, but as time went on I slowly came to the conclusion that God wasn't real," Fromm wrote in his article. "I knew that the school catered to Christian thinking, so before I enrolled, I visited the campus to make sure that the chapel services were comfortable enough that I ...

Okay, SteveR. here are some scriptures that if you read them together, then you will see how they all are sort of intertwined. I have more if you need them.

Oh and Islam came about hundreds of years after Christianity; therefore the bible couldn't have originated from Islam??? The pope accepts the god of Islam, but Christians do not.

1 Timothy 2:9-15
1 Corinthian 11:3
1 Timothy 5:14
Ephesians 5:22
Genesis 1:28
Titus 2:3-5
Isaiah 3:8-12

If you have any questions as to how they relate to the topic of women and their roles, please let me know and I'll try to explain.

Also remember, I have written a meditation on the cult of catholicism if you ever want it. It is 50 plus pages, but remember you can simply delete it if you don't like it.

Mrs. S. such a nice comment.

Thanks for the well wishes Christopher, John and Penelope.
And you are right about some sketchy science being out there Penelope. The world is rife with it, and good science has recently become an interest of mine thanks to creation ministries international. Because if you can get ppl to believe "scientific" (it's origins science, not observable or testable) reasons to disbelieve Genesis, then the rest of the bible is folly and useless. Either it's true on the historical level from page one, or it is completely wrong and cannot be trusted for spiritual matters.

Oh and John uk, you realize that if someone is working in a building full of unsaved people, then he has quite the battleground to glorify the Lord in daily, not just his home.
Just some "in not of" semantics.

Good, that means you are smart enough not to believe the anti college kristian taliban that post here. There was one nugget of truth on this thread, the DNC doesnt mind uneducated Hispanics. Mike rightfully understands that ignorance is the tool of our enemy

Find a good Christian group at your University. If you cant find one, start one and meet often, hold each other accountable, and trust in the LORD

Hi Folks...just wanted to let you all know how much I enjoy this forum.I have been reading it for almost a year and have gleaned much from some of you(Anne,Penny,JohnUk,Christopher,Unprovitable Servant,Lurker,Frank, and one who no longer posts Watchman).
Have also been blessed by GsTexas and SF and the gentle soul Dolores all though I disagree with her on some matters.
All of this to say I am challenged in my own walk by the comments from you and I do check all of what you say concerning doctrine and scripture by being a Berean!
I have more fellowship here on SA than any of the dead church meeting houses we have attended.
Also as an exRC ...beware of those on this forum that sympathize with the Romish false doctrines and works salvation gospel!
Lovingly in the Saviour,
Mrs.S

Not to worry about that, Steve. Hispanics will be discouraged from education. The Democrats need the votes.

In Spurgeon's day, you would go to his church, the Met Tab, and he would teach you all sorts of subjects in a godly environment.

Have you never wondered why so many Christians are now homeschooling their children? Why stop there? If you really must have a degree, work from home; you don't have to attend a building full of reprobates.

Good on yer, Frank. If Steve can be shown why his arguments are so poor, there is hope yet for him. We must never give up on people, even when they might be papists, trolls, or warlocks. The fact that he cannot understand scripture in its context, and therefore uses it willy-nilly, shows him as an unregenerate who has no respect for God or his word.

No SteveR, I didn't say these women "would have" unholy expectations. What I said was it would serve them no spiritual purpose and is likely to be counterproductive. Now if they recognize that fact or not, is sort of irrelevant to my argument.

You are once again mixing apples and oranges like in one of your earlier posts that said that I didn't know or acknowledge that women were more intelligent then men. But, the same would hold true for Hispanic women who are in the faith.

Do you have any scriptures that are in context that you can provide that say a woman needs a college degree to be a wife and a mother or that a degree makes them a better wife and mother? Or are you saying that a Christian woman's primary goal is not to serve the Lord by being a wife and a mother?

You do know SteveR that women show their obedience to the Lord by doing what He says to do?

I can provide lots of scriptures if you need me to.

Will, you have some exciting opportunities, some thoughts.... many will want you to compromise your morality. (that's why evolution is the philosophy) so much of research today, the big money stuff, is highly questionable. an example off the top of my head is basing vaccines off of aborted fetal cell lines. whatever industry you become a part of will want you to be willing to delve into things... I'm sure there are still good opportunities out there. The moral man is not always the socially distinguished one. He is not necessarily rewarded in this life, I pray for your wisdom. I encourage you to test all spirits, and put all ideas at the foot of Christ when you make decisions. Many folks really don't know what goes on behind the scenes, I hope you have elders that you can share your experiences with, but at the same time, if you love Christ, serving Him should be the priority. As someone old enough to be your mom, that's what I have to share. Biology is a very exciting field of study, I can see why you would want to choose it.

Prov 9:9 Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: teach a just man, and he will increase in learning.

If this is the case then where do the "wise" and "just" go to receive instruction if not college/university?

If they go to many churches they will get boring sermons stemming from simplistic convictions, such as basic relational themes.

Prov 27:17 Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.

In educational surroundings doctrines can be challenged and iron will sharpen iron.

Perhaps some of you out there have found that iron sharpens iron here on Semonaudio comments board? Simply because we may be forced to think and use our little brain cells!

Well, what does GOD say about a college education?
Eccl 7:12 For wisdom is a defence, and money is a defence: but the excellency of knowledge is, that wisdom giveth life to them that have it.

Rom 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Prov 16:16 How much better is it to get wisdom than gold! and to get understanding rather to be chosen than silver!

Prov 9:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.
Prov 10:14.

2Tim 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

Isaiah 28:9 Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts.
10 For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little.

Dan 1:17 As for these four children, God gave them knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom: and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.

And much more ...

Steve r, John Y, nobody on here has demonized educated women, that's a perversion of the truth. All we are saying is that it doesn't fit with the Biblical role of a mother/ wife who is to be a keeper of the home. However since others don't agree with your position you demonize them with juvenile insults. Quite hypocritical if you ask me. If you don't agree that's fine, but maybe you should use Scripture to back up your position, instead of immaturity.

Hey Pilgrim, I see you are hanging in there with our resident trolls. I think perhaps I started this dissent, and if i did I am not sorry for it. All I originally said was that women going to college would likely be counterproductive because it would make it harder for them to be satisfied and content as wives and mothers; therefore they should avoid it because it gave them unhealthy choices. A degree doesn't make nor can it make a woman a better Christian wife and mother; scripture and her husband will do just fine. And since she is not to be the provider, then why do it; why spend the time and money to be faced with so much antichristian material when they don’t have the discerning spirits to fight off satan's attacks? So, my comments were geared mostly towards Christian women and not feminists or evangelical feminists. What percentage of women graduating from college, Christian or secular, would say their goals were to be wives and mothers and to serve the Lord in that way? The destruction of the family led by the feminist egalitarian movements that have infiltrated our churches and are encouraged by carnal men, like our trolls, is a horrible thing.
