John McArthur vs. The Charismatic Church

Michael Brown, writer and journalist for Charisma News and Charisma Magazine, has penned a piece asking John MacArthur, world renown bible teacher, Pastor and author, to recant his strong stand against the Charismatic Church and reign in the harsh words that he uses to describe their doctrine, dogma and philosophy.

As always my desire is for you to know the truth and many of you are already aware that I am NOT a fan of the Charismatic Church or their doctrines. Of course theirs is not the only doctrine gone astray from scripture, but since this is the topic at hand, I will stick to the Charismatic Church vs. the ultra-Conservative John MacArthur. According to Michael Brown, it is now an all out war.

John MacArthur points out in his book Charismatic Chaos and in his upcoming book Strange Fire that the Apostolic gifts of the Holy Spirit are no longer in operation or are a part of the modern day ...

Praise the Lord!

And praise the Lord that through education or translators you and your wife have managed to overcome the language barrier between Nepalese and Elizabethan English.... biblically known as speaking in other tongues.

Thank you for your service to God's kingdom in Nepal and may He continue to bless the work of your hands.

My wife and I are Authorized (KJV) Bible, Pentecostal missionaries in Nepal. John McArhur obviously doesn't read/teach from he Authorized (KJV) Bible. He wouldn't be teaching such unbiblical nonsense if he did. The nine gifts of the Holy Ghost are for the Body of Christ today. The entire life of Jesus in the four Gospels, the entire Book of Acts, I Corinthians 12 - 14, etc. prove that. Jesus demonstrated the supernatural power of God through the HOLY GHOST. He expects us to take His lead and do the same. WARNING: Jesus warned of committing the unpardonable sin - blasphemy of the Holy Ghost. He said that when the Jews said He casted out demons through Beelzebub.

Thousands upon thousands have come to Jesus here in Nepal, leaving behind Hinduism and Buddhism, because Bible-believers here demonstrate God's great power through the gifts of the Holy Ghost. Hallelujah! You'll never find one scripture in which God says He's taken away any of the gifts. He's the same yesterday, today and forver.

We need more people like John MacArthur to speak out against the charismatic movement. I came out of this movement after about 8 years under its teaching and I've had to relearn so much theology.

"GCC is totally purpose driven"

I live close enough to Sun Valley to have visited GCC a couple times over the years...but anyone that even listen's to JM's strictly expository sermons know's he's not purpose driven and he's critiqued S-Back Church as much as any pastor.

Mike, you're overstating your conviction a bit. Even if reformed Baptists believe covenantal baptism is error...you suggest Baptists (like yourself) think paedobaptists aren't real Christian??

"These " Baptist reformed" hold calvin, in high esteem, but would not considered him a true Christian. Because he was a Padobaptist,"

It's strange......, they were addressing the neo Calvinist and there practices of toungs, gifts, etc.. But. The same men, like Piper, Driscoll , Mahanney, and others, all stand at these big shows together, with the men at this conference...... Why now? Why are they just coming out? And what is a Calvinist Baptist reformed anyway.? These " Baptist reformed" hold calvin, in high esteem, but would not considered him a true Christian. Because he was a Padobaptist.. Since all believe in a believers baptism.
Hmm. I think, that's another conference.

yes Charmismania is false but it is easy to spot them. If you have the words of GOD.
However, if you want to also point out gainsayers and deadly wolves, you cannot do it here. Bible perverters, doctrine perverters because they have hirelings hanging on every word a false pastor says; (like a dog with a litter of puppies)well you are silenced at least here on SermonAudio news.

John MacArthur has about 12 areas that the Charismatic area is false, you can look at them for free at, Charismatic Chaos My church's bookstore would be happy to sell you his book, Charismatic Chaos, though they don't seem to have his latest book.

My church is a big fan of John's, but if you want to see some material from a site that isn't then, take a look at, The Charismatic Movement--35 DOCTRINAL ISSUES. So, Penny, there are a lot of reasons to be Combating Charismatic Theology, and John MacArthur is just one of many, who know the nonsense of the Charismatic/Pentecostal theology.

At the moment were in the good times, in spite of the suffering of many Christians around the world, e.g., China Relentless in Persecution of House Churches. But, Events Preceding the Prophesied Kingdom

the evangelical prophet telling us that it was God's will to begin the great wars against Christianity in the Middle East, who then teaches that Christ is not King and that the gifts of the Spirit have ceased (making prophecy dead, while concurrently acting in the role of prophet) against the false prosperity gospel that claims spiritual gifts as a power to be excercised for self gain.

He's put himself in position to diminish the power of Christ for this generation.
well, this should be interesting.

because Christians are going through tribulation, they need the comfort, conviction, understanding, and discernment of the Holy Spirit and to be people of faith, human psychology and humanism (same thing) have generally taken over and replaced the spiritual gifts, as we are trying to be "conservative", basically ending up in the very place we thought we were leaving!

There is such a broad range of people who identify themselves as Charismatic, it is hard to lump them all together. I have friends call themselves as "Charismatic Reformed" Christians. In practice, it seems to me their theology differs little from that of Martin Lloyd-Jones, since they never have any distinctively Charismatic features in the worship service of their church-- no tongues, prophecies, healings, etc. Their position is basically that God may give miraculous gifts in the present day, but that it is left to His sovereign will. On the other hand, there are those who believe Christians should actively 'seek' the extraordinary gifts mentioned in 1 Corinthians, and if these are lacking in a church, something is wrong-- the church is quenching the Holy Spirit. It is this latter group I consider the most extreme, for they make no distinction at between what was normative in the apostolic era and what is normative today. Calvin speaks of 'traces or shades' of the apostolic gifts remaining in the church, though he clearly believes that revelatory gifts have ceased to be normative, now that the canon of Scripture is closed. We surely must guard against lumping together in the same box all who regard themselves as in some sense 'non-cessationist.' There are various views.

I don't feel most, or any, are possessed, but rather, they have been convinced, hook, line, and sinker...beyond any reasonable doubt, that what they do is of God, straight from God, and for God. They are simply being deceived by a misrepresentation, misinterpretation, and misunderstanding of the gifts of the spirit along with the verse that speaks about the Apostles going on to do even greater things and casting out demons, etc, etc. I see them as being passionate and filled with faith, but misdirected faith in powers that were most likely reserved for the Apostles; powers that they feel they can use at any moment they choose, like a magic wand. Charismatics believe that all I ther churches are basically dead because they "suppress the gifts of the spirit", and they are among the most difficult to remove the blinders from.
I should add that when the extremists begin barking and flailing about, my first thought is possession as well. Who knows...sometimes maybe.

More people need to take a stand against the charismatic church. Their mishandling of tongues is just downright absurd, and freaky. Personally, I think most of them are demon possessed. In Scripture, we don't see people who have received the Holy Ghost rolling around on the floor, behaving like animals, laughing uncontrolablt, or having convulsions. However these behavior traits do correlate with Biblical accounts of demon possession.
