Christian Apologist Says Church 'Losing Battle' Against Hate Label for Homosexuality Stance

Nobody likes to be called a ‘hater’. Hate is such a loaded word. The dictionary defines it as ‘intense dislike’, ‘extreme aversion’ or ‘hostility’ towards someone or something. It’s the antithesis of Christianity’s core value – love. However, if you stand behind the traditional Biblical stance that homosexual behaviour is a sin, than expressing that view could land you on the wrong side of the law as a perpetrator of ‘Hate Speech’ in Canada. The precedent was set early this year in a ground-breaking case in Saskatchewan that calls into question our Constitutional right to ‘Freedom of Expression’. The Supreme Court ruled the distribution of anti-homosexual pamphlets was a violation of the hate speech provisions of the Human Rights Code.

World renowned apologist, Dr Williams Lane Craig, is widely regarded as one of the greatest defenders of the traditional Christian faith on the planet. Leading ...

I was recently was shown in scripture the concept of the curse of the law. It's somewhere I think in Leviticus. And that our sins ( post and ore Christian because we still sin) make us open to the curse. God curses sinners for generations ie the generations ( offspring ) will be cursed for many generations. So let's say ones ancestors were into sexual sin, then ones children will be more likely to succumb. There are devils ( I'll use the Kjv word) that then have legitimate right to torment and tempt.
The good news is that for true Christians, Christ took the curse of the law and hence our offspring are not affected by our sins. Could this explain biblically why homosexuals say they were born that way ?
I've come across teaching like this only in charismatic circles, Lisa. And I think they have it wrong, like they have most other things wrong. IMHO.

I don't think so, Lisa, not in the new covenant age....

Jer 31:29-30 In those days they shall say no more, The fathers have eaten a sour grape, and the children's teeth are set on edge. But every one shall die for his own iniquity: every man that eateth the sour grape, his teeth shall be set on edge.

Jer 31:31 ¶ Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:

32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day [that] I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD:

33 But this [shall be] the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.

I think you're misunderstanding what Dr. Craig is saying. Did you read the article? He is in no way saying that a homosexuality is right. What he is saying when he says, "What the Bible condemns is not a homosexual orientation" is that the Bible condemns our sin nature. We are ALL born with a sin nature...everyone of us. He clearly said, "What you shouldn’t be is a confessing Christian and a practicing homosexual." None of us who are confessing Christians should be practicing sinners. That most certainly DOES NOT mean that we don't all struggle daily with sin, daily. Matthew 5:28 is telling us that we are all sinners...all of us! It is a constant struggle, homosexuals or not!
Dr. Craig is right; have a little discernment.
Dear sister, TT.

What the good doctor argues for is being a Christian and retaining the orientation of a homosexual. What of the new creature, the new man?

2Cr 5:17 Therefore if any man [be] in Christ, [he is] a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Can a homosexual become a Christian? Absolutely. However, that's not what Craig said. If the old sin nature (orientation) of homosexuality hasn't passed away then I'd doubt the conversion was of the will of God.

Certainly you can, I don’t think there’s any doubt about that. What you shouldn’t be is a confessing Christian and a practicing homosexual. What the Bible condemns is not a homosexual orientation – that’s largely out of your control from what homosexuals tells us. Many of them would love to have a heterosexual orientation and they just find themselves with this orientation. So what the Bible proscribes is homosexual activity and that is proscribed regardless of whether it is carried out by a heterosexual or homosexual person. It’s not your orientation that matters, it’s your behaviour." (Dr Williams Lane Craig)
Logical conclusion, world renowned apologist, Dr Williams Lane Craig, one of the greatest defenders of the traditional Christian faith on the planet (attributed to the doctor by someone who obviously doesn't know beans about contending for the faith).

Now that that's settled, let's apply the same principal to adultry and rewrite the bible accordingly.

Mat 5:28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

Can we then say "its not your 'sin' direction/position - its your behaviour"???

Thus it is only the act which is the iniquity or transgression??

I think this term "orientation" is becoming a legal loophole in this debate. It seems to provide an excuse for the act/behaviour. The Bible teaches 'don't sin' whatever the sin is, because God abhors sin and sin will deliver you to hell. It calls men sinners but does not use that as an escape clause or excuse for what we are in relation to GOD.

One should also realize that God Hates Sin, Hates Sinners and the The Bible Says Homosexuality is Sin. Plus any atheist should realize that it is not utilitarian to encourage homosexuality, I think a strong dislike for the lifestyle is not uncalled for. No matter what queers or their supporters want to call it.

Thank you, jpw. Your comment restored the article into better context for me.

Acts 5:41-42 (KJV)
And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name. [42] And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ.

believers only "lose the battle" if they lose the truth and stand in deceptions. persecution is not failure. should we question God when the world hates the beauty and truth of Christ? perhaps God wants His people to testify Him before a dying world. this gets the attention of the wayword soul, because the message is backed by sacrifice and means its for real.
