Bill O'Reilly: The Bible contradicts itself

Fox News anchor Bill O’Reilly, who is writing an upcoming book titled “Killing Jesus,” proclaimed on his program Wednesday night that “a lot of the Bible is allegorical,” and the New Testament Gospels contradict themselves.

O’Reilly made the remarks during an interview with “Touched by an Angel” star Roma Downey and her husband Mark Burnett, executive producers of “The Bible” TV miniseries which begins this Sunday night on the History Channel.

Downey, who portrays Jesus’ mother Mary in the series, opened the interview by declaring her solid faith in Holy Scripture.

“Bringing the Bible to the screen came with a huge responsibility and one we took very seriously,” Downey said. “We had a great team of scholars and theologians helping us, making sure that we told these stories accurately and truthfully. I’ve been a believer my whole life, and that was very, very important to us. Something else ...

If you want to know why Christ died then read the Bible. Don't waste your time and money buying the man's book.

I agree, and taking his position that the Bible is nothing more that a book filled with fanciful stories into account, his new book may have just earned him a new level of condemnation. I say this because his book will be read by tens of thousands who may be swayed, in the end, to his line of reasoning, logic, and unbelief.
I always find it so interesting that the liberals, the criminals, and every other sort of obviously unregenerate people almost always claim to be Roman Catholic when asked.
For example, take La Cosanaostra throughout history, take the Spanish and Irish gangs and death squads, take the Santa Ria practioners, etc, and I could go on for another page...they all claim to be Roman Catholics, practicing or not. Roman Catholocism has always been convenient for these crowds, and the criminal in general, because they can so easily just have their sins absolved and forgiven as often as is necessary. Convenient.

O’Reilly followed up by asking, “Are you telling people that they should believe in Adam and Eve?"

If there was no Adam, as Mr. O'Reilly is implying, then there would be no need for Christ.

1Cor 15:45 And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.

If there was no Adam, how did sin and death enter into the world?

Rom 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

I forgot, doesn't O'Reilly also hold to evolution?

Maybe the news caster should stick to trying to report the news instead of writng a book called "Killing Jesus" based upon a source O'Reilly holds to as fictitious.

If you want to know why Christ died then read the Bible. Don't waste your time and money buying the man's book.

1 John isnt a Gospel

The synoptic Gospels are Matthew, Luke and Mark. I would argue all 4 are , but for this purpose keep the 3. These Gospels often describe the exact same events, but sometimes with glaring material 'contradictions.' Some contradictions are reconciled, some remain a mystery.

I feel OReilly probably meant the above. The contradiction Bill should answer for(imo) is paling around w/Dennis Miller

Serving the papal antichrist obviously means more "anti" than "Christ." Thats been the way of it for centuries.
Roman Catholics do not have the indwelling Holy Spirit who guides the sinner into the Word of God. Thus they cannot receive the truth that is Sola Scriptura as real Christians do.
Such people make up their own religion a works based religion with gods of their own invention. Relics such as bits of flesh, bits of old clothes and other useless junk, graven images in contravention to the Law of God and rewrite the Gospel regarding Mary.
The real contradiction here is between the Bible and the RCC believing itself to be "Christian."
If you havent been confronted with material specific 'contradictions' in the synoptic Gospels while witnessing, I would say you arent evangelizing enough.

America, John Y., thinks it is perfectly okay to aid and abet an apostate church, The Church of Rome Steps Into Apostasy (PDF) and Should Roman Catholicism really be classified as a Christian religion? -- No. (PDF)

John Y., can point out if he has others reasons to hold onto this false religion, Exchanging Religion for a Relationship (PDF) and your encouragement, America, is "No!" Are We Really Catholic Bashing? (PDF)

John Y., your brother had the right idea of Com(ing) Out Of The Catholic Church (PDF), so you should follow his example.

Mr. Yurich,
It has never been popular to follow the Lord
Jesus Christ.many of the first believers in Christ were martyred for their faith, and hundreds of thousands of believers during the Reformation, paid with their lives for refusing to submit to Rome. The Lord Himself was rejected by His own family and nation, being crucified outside of Jerusalem in the company of criminals. He did this for us.God now exhorts us to go forth unto Him without the camp, bearing His reproach.(Hebrews 13:13)

O'Reilly has the erroneous viewpoint of the Romish Church, that only it has the correct view of the Bible, and it of course is quite wrong. They follow the heretic Origen in interpretation.
G. H. Schodde on Interpretation (See ISBE) wrote:
It is one of the characteristic and instructive features of the New Testament writers that they absolutely refrain from the allegorical method of interpretation current in those times, particularly in the writings of Philo. Not even Ga 4:22, correctly understood, is an exception, since this, if an allegorical interpretation at all, is an argumentum ad hominem. The sober and grammatical method of interpretation in the New Testament writers stands out, too, in bold and creditable contrast to that of the early Christian exegetes, even of Origen. Only the Syrian fathers seemed to be an exception to the fantasies of the allegorical methods. The Middle Ages produced nothing new in this sphere; but the Reformation, with its formal principle that the Bible and the Bible alone is the rule of faith and life, made the correct grammatical interpretation of the Scriptures practically a matter of necessity.
John, your bro. did right, out the RCC[/

America's stand is a right and noble one. I went to a Catholic funeral/mass once. One of the spookiest things I had ever witnessed and I likewise intend to never do so again.

America, this post was outstanding. My Christian walk has also destroyed any close walk I could have had with my family. I also wouldn't attend any funeral that was held by the Catholic church or a Unitarian church, etc.

First. It's not a " story".. its history, and truth. When people use the word.. " story" most equate a fairy tail. 2. Bill O'Reilly is a Romanist. He believes a different gospel.. He follows the created, rather then the creator. He follows a false gospel.

By the way, America...good for you. I am always encouraged to hear from those who have made it out of that system.
Let me ask you a question: knowing what you know now, Biblically, and after being born again, would you feel comfortable attending Mass each week as opposed to attending a fundamental, Bible based church? After breaking free from that system, and now knowing that the one true church is actually anti-Christ, anti-Bible, and anti-God in every way, could you comfortably remain and
attend Mass each week?
I have a reason for asking...

I should have mentioned that the quotes below belong to Pope John Paul II and Benedict. There are several more that I could source from the both of them as well as Vatican II itself.
The Muslim Allah derives from the pagan moon god, Al-elah (sp?), which they vehemently deny but this can be easily proven with a little historical investigative work.

A'hem, well, Bob...of course it is. After all, according to Vatican II, and Pope John II, we serve and worship the same god, answers Bill O'Reilly.

"This year is also the 40th anniversary of the conciliar Declaration Nostra Aetate, which has ushered in a new season of dialogue and spiritual solidarity between Jews and Christians, as well as esteem for the other great religious traditions. Islam occupies a special place among them. Its followers worship the same God and willingly refer to the Patriarch Abraham."

"As I have often said in other meetings with Muslims, your God and ours is one and the same, and we are brothers and sisters in the faith of Abraham."
