Interview: 'God's Smuggler' on Megachurches, Persecuted Christians, and Friendship With Taliban and Hamas Leaders

Brother Andrew has a natural kindness to him that makes those around him – even people meeting him for the first time – feel at ease and as if they've known him for years. Perhaps this gift is part of the reason why the Open Doors founder has been so successful in befriending Hamas, Taliban, and other Muslim extremist leaders, while openly sharing his Christian faith with them. Open Doors is an international ministry that assists persecuted Christians around the world.

The Christian Post recently sat down with Brother Andrew to look back at the beginning of his ministry as a Bible smuggler behind the Iron Curtain, to get his take on how American megachurch pastors are doing on advocating for persecuted Christians, to hear about his friendship with the "Father of the Taliban," and to see if this 84-year-old man has plans to slow down. ...

I see your reading comprehension is as weak as your theology.

Luke 16:29 Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.

Luke 16:30 And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent.

Luke 16:31 And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.

This text points to the books of Moses and the Prophets. Without understanding the OT, you have turned to an idol that you call god.

Jeremiah 5:23 But this people hath a revolting and a rebellious heart; they are revolted and gone. ... Jeremiah 5:25 Your iniquities have turned away these things, and your sins have withholden good things from you.

That Scripture points us to Christ, not Brother Andrew. Brother Andrew has not come back from the dead, but I do believe on the one who did.

But at least your latest comment not so outrageously blasphemous. However, there is no point pointing to the Bible if it is not authoritative for you.

It is the word of God that we must obey, not specifically the example of Brother Andrew. This was your fallacious appeal to authority.

UN Millenium Goals to be more specific. Listed out they look the same. what he speaks of, in his own words, is nothing less than a global second reformation. but back to the article on Brother Andrew......

Whatever love they thought to have for Christ would have been the sort that Mother Teresa possessed viz. a delusional love! I'm sure you think that she was truly saved too, eh?

Them pointing him to the bible does by no stretch of the imagination fit your decription of them "bringing him to faith".

Your devilish tactics are plain for all to see on this board. You should be ashamed of yourself. May the Lord rebuke you!

One nun was instrumental right at the start of what brother Andrew himself called an, "incredible journey of discovery". And all she did was encourage him to read the bible!
BUT, and this is the point, none of the nuns explained anything to him. He understood the gospel from his own reading of the Bible! So much for the nuns bringing him to faith!!

How encouraging is this! Thank You SA with such a well received article about a true hero of the faith. I will just remark he should be known for his great work distributing Bibles, not the needed admonishment of Saddlebacks Church & their worldly goods.

From their website

"He has also broken down denominational barriers by preaching in Catholic and Coptic Orthodox churches.

Currently in his 80s, Brother Andrew and his wife, Corrie, live in Holland and have 5 children and 4 grandchildren.

Today Open Doors has many co-workers in over 50 high-risk countries. "

Quote;
"I have been at Rick Warren's church. They gave me a special award for being old and still following Jesus. Can you think of that? So I got up for the big thank you,....

You don't have to reward him in the world. Instead of rewarding an old man who still follows Christ ...

...don't reward an man who is near eternity because he still follows Jesus, it is the calling of all of us." unquote.

The reason you don't reward an old man for 'still' following Christ is = the 'P' in T.U.L.I.P.

"And I have been at Rick Warren's church. They gave me a special award for being old and still following Jesus. Can you think of that? So I got up for the big thank you, and I said something like you Americans are crazy, how can you reward an old man for still following Jesus? All he wants to do is go to heaven and make it. You don't have to reward him in the world. Instead of rewarding an old man who still follows Christ, you should punish all the rich people in your church who spend all their money on the bigger boat, and bigger this, that and the other. That should be the system, but don't reward an old man who is near eternity because he still follows Jesus, it is the calling of all of us. What's your problem? Well, frankly, they've never invited me back."

I've always liked this brother.
