Could Pope Benedict XVI Be Put on Trial?

While the vast majority of discussion surrounding Pope Benedict XVI’s historic voluntary exit from the Catholic Church has focused upon his next steps, some critics have spent their time pushing for the faith leader to be put on trial following his departure. With Benedict preparing to vacate the papacy in just days, victims rights advocates are open about their desire for his prosecution over the abuse scandal that continues to rock the Catholic Church.

Of course, the image of the pope sitting in a courtroom is relatively outlandish — and an unlikely development. But that hasn’t stopped some from trying to legally pin the crimes of select priests on the head of the Catholic Church. The potential scenario was apparently so troublesome that it was reportedly a factor in Benedict’s decision to continue taking up residence at the Vatican.

One Vatican official told Reuters that Benedict’s decision ...

I believe that JY is getting his definition from a straightforward rendering of
1 John 4:2 and
2 John 1:7
and very narrowly applying the scriptures' teaching regarding the deity of Christ (and by implication the necessity of holding to the Trinity) to the exclusion of all else in the Scriptural record.

Ez 8-20 relates to Jerusalem being eyebrow deep in idolatry. If then you are suggesting that the "Christian" in the RCC is put there by God to teach the truth and against the evils of idolatry. - Then my question remains unanswered.

Ezekiel is sent to reveal the truth to Jerusalem.
Ez 14:4 Therefore speak unto them, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Every man of the house of Israel that setteth up his idols in his heart, and putteth the stumblingblock of his iniquity before his face, and cometh to the prophet; I the LORD will answer him that cometh according to the multitude of his idols;
5 That I may take the house of Israel in their own heart, because they are all estranged from me through their idols.
6 Therefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Repent, and turn yourselves from your idols; and turn away your faces from all your abominations."

These COVERT Christians of yours are failing miserably in their task - and keeping very quiet about the evil of idolatry, heresy etc etc. They are not teaching the truth!

Where is your evidence that REAL Christians are teaching the truth in and as part of the RCC???

Also, some saints' relics are known for their extraordinary incorruptibility Parts of the saint that were significant to that saint's life are more prized relics. For instance, King St. Stephen of Hungary's right forearm is especially important because of his status A famous theologian's head may be his most important relic. (The head of St. Thomas Aquinas) If a saint did a lot of travelling then the bones of his feet may be prized.
2nd-Class Relics: An item that the saint wore (shirt, glove, etc) Also included is an item that the saint owned or frequently used, for example, a crucifix, rosary, book etc. Sometimes a second class relic is a part of an item that the saint wore
3rd-Class Relics: Any object that is touched to a first- or second-class relic. Most third-class relics are small pieces of cloth, though in the first millennium oil was popular..." wikipedia.org/wiki/relic

Could the Pope be put on trial? What for? The crimes of some of his priests? If that's ok, why don't we put Obama on trial for the crimes of some of his citizens, or Queen Elizabeth for the crimes of some of her subjects?

Nothing to do with the bogeyman. Everything to do with the very essence of antichrist.

He never needed to wait centuries for microchips to deceive the minds of the poor, lost, souls that you believe have already found Christ.

More than that his deception is alive and well in the minds of others who think they know better.

If - as you assert - there are Christians in the Roman Catholic organisation, why then does God allow His people to remain in and under an idolatrous and blasphemous system which works against Him on earth?

Do you believe that God assists Satan in his evil work among humanity?

Do you think that God works against His Holy Word in this, eg: ~ "He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him." 1John 2:4.

It clear that Rome does not keep the Commandments.

A good point John U.K., that no, Are We Really Catholic Bashing? (PDF).

Of course this Pope won't be put on any trial, no matter how much SNAP---Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests will howl, there's no legal entity that the Vatican is subject to, Also at least one candidate for the new Unholiness has already blamed the Jews for the Romish Church's, q.v., Should Roman Catholicism really be classified as a Christian religion? -- No. (PDF), as is pointed out in this short article, Dershowitz: Contender for papacy is anti-Semite.

This aspect of the antichrist RCC is not well known, and needs to be aired more often. Thanks for mentioning it. There is far too much kept under wraps which, if made known to all Christians, would put them off the slightest friendship with the RCC and help them to see their enemy in better light.

In the meantime, we must continue to EVANGELISE Roman Catholics, no matter what the ecumenical councils say to the contrary. If we love people, whether Catholic or not, we must proclaim Christ to them all, and the sovereign Lord will do as he will do, and he will have mercy on whom he will have mercy.

Looks like we agree that the Vatican shouldnt be a state. No, not because you are afraid that the bogeyman pope is going to try to implant a microchip in your forehead, but rather it would be better for Christians in the RCC. Their current worldly system only encourages crime & deception cloaked with the unaccountability of diplomatic immunity.
