Guns: 'Packing heat in church' increasingly allowed in U.S.
As gun control takes high priority on Capitol Hill, state legislatures increasingly are allowing concealed guns in our most sacred place, the church, either for personal protection or for worshippers designated as church security personnel.
Arkansas, on Feb. 4, became the eighth state to pass legislation allowing concealed guns specifically in churches. In a lopsided bipartisan vote, state legislators voted to allow each church to decide whether individuals with concealed carry permits could take guns in church for personal protection....

Whats all the ruckus about 'b'? You upset because someone is telling you to put away the cowboy killing toys? People are being killed everyday - shot by weapons you don't need in a civilised society. Look at all the other countries, either because they have removed them from public access or because the country is poor and cannot afford their own personal assault rifle, - they get by without slaughtering kindergarten kids. Amazing the facts arn't they? Millions of people walking around with guns is not an alternative justice system. It is a potential killing field created by a bad law. FYI. Obama doesn't live in my country.
BWS wrote: "...and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one." -- Jesus Christ to disciples, Luke 22:36
If you actually believe Christ is telling you to put a gun shop in every mall and arm your nation with assault rifles with this verse then you cannot interpret Scripture. For one thing Jesus was sending His disciples out on the mission of evangelising. You going out evangelising with your assault rifle??
He's saying we are so called Christians because we like being free and enjoy the privilege of having a fire arm so we desire to kill people because of it. This guy is obviously delusional and how much more a killer is he cause he's making judgments? He probably voted obama who supports abortion, and abominable lifestyles and is anti Christ . So who's the killer? His arguments are facetious and swill.
Also if you are so anti gun try living in Australia where the criminals defy the gun ban and the crime rate is sky high, citizens are terrorized because criminals have weapons. Law abiding citizens can do anything. Do the research on Australia . See how you like living there. Yeah fire arms kill. In the wrong hands they do. Just because a law abiding citizen has one does not make him a killer. Christians don't "dish out justice out of a barrel of a gun" just because we own them. Stop looking for an argument , or is this website all you got?
Jim , having a rifle does not mean I'm not a Christian. Lots if Christians have firearms. It's got nothing to do with salvation. We don't walk around and impose our will on people. I myself skeet shoot. I enjoy it. I guess in your eyes I'm not a Christian because I do that. I guess the pastors that fought in the revolution aren't Christian either, I guess you are the only true Christian cause you don't have one.

Ah I see. You don't carry guns as a means to justice, - the punishment of criminals. (Because legislation doesn't work in America) You carry them as the means to solve the medical problem of the mentally disturbed.
And the reason why you have an arsenal on every street corner is because everybody is qualified to solve these justice and medical problems?
We use mental hospitals and treat them with medication.
Mike where does it say in the Bible Christians are suppose to being passing out judgment at the end of a gun. I think we need to start a movement to get rid of the 2nd Amendment in its present form! (or adjust the 14th actually) all I see are smug killers running around loose.
Guns are for one thing, to kill, they are to wound or maim, they are to kill, I think you also had better read the article, Five myths about gun control.
Apparently we need more Wyatt Earps on the streets to handle the gun toting smug "Christians." When I see so many inane remarks about gun-carrying, then one has a reason feel smug. It just as Christian as being a gunman.
Jim Lincoln wrote: --- I like to know when the U.S. has become northern Nigeria? We have some smug potential killers apparently running around calling themselves Christian. ---
Oh for sure, Jim. One is a smug potential killer if one owns a gun? How did you ever get so full of your own smug nonsense? Why do you so strongly object to the law of the land? You I.D. with the president to that degree?
An armed man is a Muhammadan, an unarmed man, is a Christian.
I like to know when the U.S. has become northern Nigeria? I would have to say Christians may have to be armed there, but that's because the country's police/military force don't do their duty.
We have some smug potential killers apparently running around calling themselves Christian. I don't blame if that Lutheran Church who had an abortion doctor murdered probably have some armed guards now, perhaps, closing the barn door after the horses are out?
As this article pointed out gun control is as American as Wyatt Earp who enforced the ban on guns in the city limits of Dodge City. Five myths about gun control
I hear you Kyle. I'm not against any one. If you have a conceal carry permit, if you choose to carry or not , if you have a rifle. I'm for it. To each his own. I support the right to bear arms. I strongly believe the government should leave law abiding citizens alone. I'm not the first to state this : " the gun isn't the issue, it's who's behind the trigger". All I'm saying is criminals , felons, and mentally ill should not have access, to obtain and have a firearm. I do not believe law abiding citizens should comply with the governments law because law abiding citizens are not committing these horrendous atrocities . If the law abiding citizen has to be disarmed so should the government too. That's fair. Who are they to say what we can and can't have. If they impose their will then this is not the land of the free. I'm sick of the anti gun propaganda and all the liberal overly sensitive politically correct leftist sissies. Let them go live in Australia where the crime rate skyrocketed and criminals have weapons. See how safe they feel. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
I used to live in Connecticut. I paid the bribe to the police so I could carry a gun, and I carried in church often. I don't feel the least bit bad about it. I'm sure that any "enlightened" person next to me would have been horrified if my concealment had briefly failed. It's pretty Orwellian.
An armed man is a citizen , an in armed man is a subject. I'm not a subject. Some of the things America stands for is freedom, liberty. And freedoms and. Liberties are being taken away slowly. I don't want to be like other countries, mike, I like freedom and liberty. I said before , the way this country is heading is not good . Stevie wonder can see that, and I'd rather die free than enslaved
I understand where your coming from mike. I myself don't carry a gun. I wouldn't want to carry one . Especially in church. But I do support rifle ownership. For family protection, hunting, recreational shooting. And I do support the 2nd amendment. I don't think we should be walking around like dodge city. There is a time and a place for fire arms . I do believe the Gestapo government should be doing what they can to keep guns out of mentally disturbed and convicted felons hands and leave law abiding citizens alone.
Mr b wrote: --- If it weren't for guns we wouldn't have the United States . There is absolutely nothing wrong with law abiding citizens having rifles.
Yes b, but remember there are those who wish to fundamentally transform the United States. Citizens with guns might not be seen as part of the post-transformation era. We need be more civilized so we can be like the peaceful rest of the world where only police and armies have weapons.
And yes , peace please , we learned something , criminals and mentally disturbed people should not have access or be allowed to have, obtain and possess a fire arm . Stop demonizing the gun and place the blame On the criminals and mentally ill who commit the crimes. The gun debate is stale and swill now . Bottom line if you want a gun or not its your perogative . Place blame on your government for not dealing with felons and loonies properly. If it weren't for guns we wouldn't have the United States . There is absolutely nothing wrong with law abiding citizens having rifles.
An yes , the mafia does pack heat in mass. I'm from ny . Raised Roman Catholic , from an Italian Sicilian American neighborhood. The mafia packed heat everywhere they went Jim. And Kyle from Tucson, I'm right there with you brother
Please drop the arrogance, Jim. Quit calling people who disagree with you "hill-billies", and engage your opponent on the argument.
Peace, something was learned. There is no "safe" place, and people are waking up to that and providing for their own security. The "I know better than you" mentality is fading, at least for the time being.
peace please wrote: The American obsession with guns is increasing rather than decreasing. Obviously the new 'justice' of America is self-applied by cowboy style action. Legislation, courts and police must be on the wane. Was nothing learned at the Sandy Hook school?
Of course not. Which is why the myriad of laws passed following the killings will do nothing to prevent mentally disturbed people from stealing weapons and doing more of the same. Politicians have to be seen doing SOMETHING, regardless.
