Theologians Tackle 'Should Christians Vote for a Mormon for President?'

Should Christians vote for a Mormon presidential candidate? That's the question many evangelicals are grappling with as the November election draws near.

While pondering the ramifications of a Mormon in the White House, some prominent Southern Baptist theologians have emphasized that whatever happens on Election Day will not affect the work of the Kingdom of God.

"The Kingdom is not riding on whatever happens on election day and the church's mission isn't going to change regardless of what happens ... on Election Day," said Dr. R. Albert Mohler, president of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, on Tuesday.

During a panel discussion at the Louisville seminary, Mohler recognized that the hardest issue for many "thoughtful" evangelicals is not merely political. The question on their minds is, "What does it mean worldwide for a Mormon, a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day ...

Hey Mark, I promised myself that I would not post anymore comments on SA with regards to abortion. I don't seem to explain myself very well. I am against abortion! That is plain and simple. Vote however you will, but it is a fallacy to think that :

Obama/Biden = More abortions
Romney/Ryan = Less abortions

There will always be abortions whether you like it or not until we change the hearts of the ones caring those precious gifts from God! I beleive we are attacking the wrong thing. If Romney/Ryan gets in office there will be no decrease in abortion. If that were the case then why wasn't there a decrease with Bush/Cheney, Bush/Quail, Reagan/Bush???
Again, let's vote our concious, but please don't expect results such as these!!!

Don't be deceived. Protect life? Voting for Romney won't stop a single abortion. It's been the law of the land since 73'. No administration, Republican or Democrat has changed that. You have to look at the other issues a candidate stands for as well, caring for the poor, etc when considering who you will vote for.

One thing is certain, when the Mormon calls for a day of pray, God to bless America, etc. will God hear him? Probably no more than he has when Obama does similarly, but know this, Mormonism is a direct attack on who God says he is and what he is not. God will not look past that sin.

Ultimately, God will be the one who determines who will sit on the throne and who will not!

Yes Mark you are quite right. No matter the other issues, we must choose to protect life. If there is any chance at all of saving some of the unborn, then we must act.

If someone is a conservative Republican and they want Obama out of the White House then they have to vote for Romney. Voting for an Independent candidate for president is just like making sure that Obama gets re elected since an Independent candidate does not stand a chance of winning the presidency. The most important thing for the United States is to get Obama out of the White House.
