'The Voice': New Bible translation focuses on dialogue

The name Jesus Christ doesn't appear in The Voice, a new translation of the Bible.

Nor do words such as angel or apostle. Instead, angel is rendered as messenger and apostle as emissary. Jesus Christ is Jesus the Anointed One or the liberating king.

That's a more accurate translation for modern American readers, says David Capes, lead scholar for The Voice, a complete edition released this month by publishing company Thomas Nelson. Capes says that many people, even those who've gone to church for years, don't realize that the word "Christ" is a title.

"They think that Jesus is his first name and Christ is his last name," says Capes, who teaches the New Testament at Houston Baptist University in Texas. ...

As a Baptist, Baptists were obviously around by 33AD. But the fact remains that James VI and I had never come across any by 1604.

You would look smarter if you did not link to Trail of Blood fictitious nonsense. Suggest you go silent.

Baptists had been around for almost 1,400 years before the commissioning of the KJV.

The King James Bible, God's translation of the Hebrew OT and the Greek NT into english, has been used and indeed continues to be used by God today to build His Church and to teach sound doctrine to His believers.

History and true faith demonstrates to the true Church that God has maintained His real witness throughout the millennia even when the idolatrous and blasphemous Roman Castholic heresy was rife amongst the nations in Pre~Reformation times.

Therefore statements about Erasmus being RC or any others for that matter are irrelevant to the facts and the purpose and plan of God.

As we now know in modern times the Roman Catholic religious fallacy is simply a social and political 'diversion' used by Satan and sin to emasculate the reprobate in similar style to the Liberal 'churches' do.

The true Christian believer knows better.

vul·gate
n.
1. The common speech of a people; the vernacular.
2. A widely accepted text or version of a work.
3. Vulgate The Latin edition or translation of the Bible made by Saint Jerome at the end of the fourth century a.d., now used in a revised form as the Roman Catholic authorized version.

The KJV translators knew this:
...About the need for Scripture in vulgar (common), everyday language, not some archaic language or dialect
"Indeed without translation into the vulgar tongue, the unlearned are but like children at Jacob's well (which is deep) [John 4:11] without a bucket or something to draw with; or as that person mentioned by Isaiah, to whom when a sealed book was delivered, with this motion, "Read this, I pray thee," he was fain to make this answer, "I cannot, for it is sealed." [Isa 29:11]"
"But we desire that the Scripture may speak like itself, as in the language of Canaan, that it may be understood even of the very vulgar."

And don't forget this was all part of the plan of the papal antichrist and his evil Vatican. To keep the ordinary people in the dark and under the control of the Vatican. This demonstrates the satanic influence which they fabricated to undermine the Bible and the Lord. The Vatican sought to control the nations and thus rake in power, prestige, gold and wealth, illustrating how worldly they really are.
The Roman Catholic enterprise in modern times maintains this mind set and by idolatrous pseudo religious practices continues to reign in the gullible and control them just for the power and prestige. This is how they get the ignorant to worship dead body relics, dumb alabaster statuettes and other graven images.
Absolutely right on.

Very few seem to understand that it was not merely a false church called the RCC which persecuted the early translators into english, even up to the KJV, but Satan himself, the enemy of God and Christians.

Ask most believers, "In what way is Satan attacking God's word today?" and they will have no answer to it. But that devil will never give up his role as destroyer until he himself is destroyed by the Lord.

KJV's TR: Compiled by a long line of Roman Catholic papists, especially a liberal 16th c. priest using a handful of manuscripts, translated by Episcopalians including a separate Apocrypha committee and commissioned by an English king who hated baptists.

NASB's W-H: Compiled by two liberal 19th c. Episcopalians (a priest and a "theologian") who hated baptists, primarily using Romish and eastern "orthodox"-owned manuscripts by a slew of modern liberal translators, all slaves to anti-Christian publishing industry moguls such as Rupert Murdoch.

"The Voice" translation further lubricates this liberal slippery-slope.

(quote article)
So in Matthew 15, when Jesus walks on the water, scaring his followers, their reaction is immediate:

Disciple: "It's a ghost!"
Another Disciple: "A ghost? What will we do?"
Jesus: "Be still. It is I; you have nothing to fear."

"I hope we get people to see the Bible — not as an ancient text that's worn out — but as a story that they participate in and find their lives in," Capes says.

The title for The Voice came from the New Testament book of John and from the Greek word logos. It's usually translated as "word" in verses such as John 1:1, which reads: "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God," in the New International Version, one of the most popular English translations.

In The Voice, that passage reads: "Before time itself was measured, the Voice was speaking. The Voice was and is God." Frank Couch, the executive editor and publisher of The Voice, says that translation better captures what logos means.

Mike Norris of Franklin Road Baptist Church in Murfreesboro disagrees. His congregation follows the belief that the King James Bible is the most accurate translation in English.

Frank Couch, he speak tripe!

As I've pointed out in another thread, about Erasmus and his Novum Instrumentum omne by Erasmus The Textus Receptus, was a very Catholic document.

A Canadian church, as already pointed out the unwise nature of King James onlyism, Canada says "NO!" to KJV only. Why Americans should fall into the foolishness of having a substandard foreign version of the Bible instead of the better American ones still amazes me.

Dr. Robert A. Joyner wrote:
…I believe it is misguided for fundamental Baptists to defend a version of the Bible based on a Greek text, prepared by a liberal Roman Catholic, translated by Episcopalians and authorized by a king who hated Baptists. While they reject translations based on a Greek text approved by all the great scholars and early fundamental leaders and translated by good Bible believing scholars from all groups, including Baptists.... This irony is strange indeed when fundamental Baptists take sides with Episcopalians and Catholics and reject their own.

It is interesting that both the Roman Catholics and the modern versionist in this debate seem to assume that God pre-Reformation did not maintain and sustain "HIS" followers in the nations even when the only denomination in town was the RCC!

Thank God these people DO NOT think like God!!

And your answer is?

And while you are at it, please explain why Jesus called Judas Iscariot as one of the apostles.

And while you are thinking on that, please explain why the Lord made use of an evil spirit when it suited his purpose.

Also Back then God rejected the Roman Catholic Greek Texts which were around at that time, - and which Westcott and Hort favoured and which subsequently support the modern versions today.
Very noticeably is the fact that the Roman Catholic church did not use the TR/KJV. Perhaps thats why they are a bunch of idolatrous blasphemous heretics. Which begs the question where are the modern version users heading???
1. Correct.
2. Correct.
3. Rome? Or apostasy? Or both?

The TR and thus the KJV are derived from a long line of Roman Catholic Priests including the following:

Fr. Jerome (347-420).
Fr. John Colet (1467-1519): "Never dreaming of a formal breach with Roman Catholicism, was a keen reformer." (Wiki)

Fr. Thomas Linacre (1460-1524).
Fr. Desiderius Erasmus Roterodamus (1466 – 1536).
