Washington Cathedral: 'Church Of Anything Goes'

At the Washington National Cathedral, Rev. Gary Hall announced last Sunday that he had discovered a sin unknown to hundreds of churchmen before him. ‘We must now have the courage to … call homophobia and heterosexism what they are,’ he said. ‘They are sins. Homophobia is a sin. Heterosexism is a sin. Shaming people for whom they love is a sin.’

“Mr. Hall, dean of Washington’s most prominent Episcopal church, criticized the role that some churches have played in oppressing young lesbians, gays, bisexual and transgendered youth. ‘It is not only just OK to be gay, straight, bisexual or transgendered,’ he said. ‘It is good to be that way, because that is the way God has made you.’”

That absolutely astounding theological and biological conjecture surely raises the question: Why has Dean Hall limited God’s (alleged) alternative sexual creationism to homosexual, bisexual and transsexual? ...

I'm not questioning your standing before God but it is clear to me that you have not fully crucified your old nature; something we all must do daily.
I'll pray for you and ask others on this forum to do the same.
May the peace of God reign in your body, soul and spirit.
My old nature would gladly gobble up your pretentiousness, my new one find its as useless as any narcissistic prayers of the lost.

We could fill many pages with the record of the martyrs of the Covenant - men, women and children, for the last to die for his faith, George Boyd, was only 16 when he was shot in the summer of 1688, but these will suffice.

James II, who succeeded to the throne in 1685 and, as an avowed Catholic, continued and intensified the persecution, was deposed in the Great Revolution of 1688.

Once again peace and liberty of conscience came to the blood-stained hills of Scotland. It is noteworthy that the persecuted saints of eastern Europe show great interest in the Covenanters of three hundred years ago.

Both groups call to our minds the words of Samuel Rutherford: "They are not worthy of Jesus, who will not take a blow for their Master."

from John Legg - "The Footsteps of God"

If Lurkers pretentious pity is acceptable, why not your nonsense? True Christians have no shame in the Gospel

As for anyone being a moron, etc, I have to remind myself each and every day not to judge which is a difficult thing for me. I have to constantly remind myself that I was liliterally one of the worst of the worst, and probably still am. Not one of us, especially me, has come remotely close to conquering sin...we all have our issues, thoughts, and actions that keep us from being any better than the next.
One might judge another for drinking alcohol, while they cheat on their taxes. One might judge another for getting a tatoo, while they gossip about others. One might judge another because they watch an R rated movie, while they are impatient and prone to road rage. One might judge another because they smoke, while they lust after a co-worker every day...and the list goes on. When I catch myself judging anyone, I look within; quickly seeing all that is wrong with me, which is usually much, much more, and I realize how hypocritical and pathetic I am that I would ever be judge and jury for anyone elses faults. I still have to work on this all day, every day.

Steve, I wish I lived close and could get to know you. You've always been very angry and I think it goes way beyond any comments, discussions, or views on this forum. I think somebody has done something to you; something that you might think you've buried, and/or have under control that leeches out in other ways. I suppose I could be dead wrong, but this is a feeling I've always had. Maybe it's something you've buried deep enough that you're not even aware you've been effected by it or molded by the bad memories, etc.
This thread disappears from the SA app after today, so if you feel like posting in a more recent thread...
Maybe I'm wrong, I guess, but I just don't believe the incessant anger was born on or is limited to this forum.

I'm so embarrassed for you, Steve!

It must be a terrible burden for you to bear to have so little control over the old nature.

Hope you're feeling better real soon.

John, great breakdown.I guess anyone could go just about anywhere and "pretend" that what is happening, isn't. No church that is blatantly and proudly riddled with so many false doctrines can possibly worship Christ and hold Him in high esteem...doesn't make sense, no matter what they happen to claim. If I claim to love and worship Christ; believing that the Bible is the true and inerrant word of God, can I at the same time work directly against Him in so many provable ways, pray to the dead for favors, etc? I can't seem to get that to work in my mind.

When I go to mass, I use a visualisation technique so that I imagine myself to be in a Lutheran church and I take the wafer and wine in a Lutheran way. If the priest asks me why I have a glazed look in my eyes, owing to the visualisation technique, I don't have to do anything except embrace Jesus as my savior, and seeing as I did that many years ago, I don't really need to do anything else, so why don't you crazy protestants leave off with your insane and psychotic drivel.
What a guy!
1 Corinthians 1:18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.

You have a problem... blah.
That would be the Nestorian heresy you are fumbling for.

How is it you claim to be a by the book Calvinist but deny Augustine's view on the two natures of Jesus?

"According as He was God, He had not a mother; according as He was man, He had. She was the mother, then, of His flesh, of His humanity, of the weakness which for our sakes He took upon Him. But the miracle which He was about to do, He was about to do according to His divine nature, not according to His weakness; according to that wherein He was God not according to that wherein He was born weak."

"How then was He both David’s son and David’s Lord? David’s son according to the flesh, David’s Lord according to His divinity; so also Mary’s son after the flesh, and Mary’s Lord after His majesty." Tract. in Ioannem (VIII,9)

Mat 22:41-46
While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them, Saying, What think ye of Christ? whose son is he? They say unto him, The Son of David. He saith unto them, How then doth David in spirit call him Lord, saying, The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool? If David then call him Lord, how is he his son?

What say you?
