Father of U.S. slavery was a black man

February has been officially designated, recognized by many and even celebrated by some as Black History Month or National African-American History Month. While it is acknowledged in some other countries (most notably Canada and the U.K.), it is primarily devoted to the achievements of African-Americans in the U.S. It will, henceforth, include the historical fact that Barack Hussein Obama became the first African-American president of the United States.

However, early American history also reveals another dramatic first involving a black American. ...

Who is trying to justify anything?

Job 2:10 .... What? shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil?

"What good"???
Again why do you ask this?

Is it fulfilment of a prophecy?

And again, "Would they have moved to a desert if not pushed?

Lurker, why would you suppose that in the providence of God, if it had not been for the slave trade this lady might have lived in a grass hut or in a Muslim or Pagan land? God in his providence may do all sorts of things. Why would you not suppose that she may somehow have lived in a land which was comfortable and where the gospel was readily available?
She does.... by your reckoning apparently by some means other than God's providence.
Out of Lurk mode wrote:
To suppose that God's arm is straightened and that without slavery she would not be where she is is a perverted justification for the trade.
Now I'm justifying slavery? Will you also charge God with being pro-slavery because He led Israel into Egypt for 400 years?
Out of Lurk mode wrote:
Even accepting that this lady has not behaved well and has been ultra sensitive, I think your comment is offensive. Try the same approach with say the Holocaust and a converted Jew and see how he/she receives it.
My purpose was not to offend but to cause our dear over-sensitive sister to look to God and find something to be thankful for. If you find that offensive then perhaps you need to consider the same. Love of God is our victory.

Sure, and I have experienced that myself - and left! As I said before, if you are not happy in the church assembly because of hypocrisy - LEAVE! Otherwise you will become just as hypocritical as they are. And if you can't find a perfect church - because church is made up of imperfect people - form your own church, and see if you can lead your people down the right road. But when that fails because of your own imperfections, become a recluse if you have a mind to it.

Seriously though, it is a very difficult thing in these last days, and I empathise fully with your comment. But don't let it bother you too much, for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh.

And the only class distinction in heaven is where you see someone (maybe a former peasant) in charge of ten cities, and a former consultant psychiatrist in charge of drainage. It all comes down to what we do with our life and with what the Lord has furnished us.

stand for God, sister in Christ, I want nothing less than the truth as well. a response article with correct information would be an excellent way to refute the inaccurate information.

race baiting is a way to keep us all infighting while the country implodes from misuse and destruction of currency and immoral wores that lead to the persecution of our brethren of the ME and Africa....and the electronics mills of asia and the coverup of the child sex trade throughout those regions....

the black man and the white man of america are facing the same austerity, the same joblessness, the same gm foods/health decline. the white churches are losing many because (in my opinion) the pastors are afraid of 501 they just will not speak on what is happening to the american family.

it is those of all cultural backgrounds in america, that love Christ, which will be the remnant.

I am concerned, both black and white, that the church has been carried away by false doctrines to the point that it would rather infight than count the cost of being a disciple of Christ.

Slavery is today.

... so if this issue is sensitive to you, it is to me, and I hope that you understand this as well.

Welcome to the real world bro

But don't forget that had it not been for the class system, you might still have been dwelling in Dickensian conditions working up a chimney and might never have heard the gospel.

Anyways, I'm done. So back to Lurk mode. Bye y'all!

I refuse to go to a blacks only congregation because I do believe in Gal 3.28. But it seems no matter which church I attend, there is always some degree of discrimination. So I just have to live with it and be content with my lot in life. Isn't that what you good White folk expect from us colored people?
In the assembly I go to, we are very grateful that there is a black man and a Pakistani family, who all feel very much at home with us, and we are hopeful that many more people from different backgrounds will attend. As far as I am concerned there are only two types of people in this world, saints and sinners, and seeing as God is no respecter of persons, I do the same. I appreciate it might be different in America or South Africa, where apartheid has held sway, but in the UK we have only a few oddballs who racially discriminate, and these are not Christians.

Why would anyone stay in such a "church"? If there is discrimination based on color, it is hardly to be called a Christian church. Should we not come out of it? Or is staying needed to give vent to anger already held?

I did not say she was not a saint, I said methinks she knew not the Lord. At the time of her satanic outburst, in which she was encouraging Job to curse God and commit suicide, she was obviously out of fellowship with Jehovah, and being influenced (as Peter was when he tried to get Jesus to turn back) by the devil himself.

However, it is a marvellous thing to behold, that you should so make allowances for such a wicked wife, yet attack without ceasing the saints of God here who are seeking to be godly and without spot or any such thing. Once again, your flag flies high for all to see, and your subterfuge noted with interest.

Hebrews 5:12

Galatians 3:28

Then we're not permitted to decry the evils perpetrated in this world based on a persons skin, especially when we have well meaning WHITE Christians who seem to justify or half justify such evils?

Does the Bible have nothing to say on matters of social justice? What Bible do you read?

John UK,
God gave Job everything, and you think he gave Job a wicked wife? I guess this shouldnt surprise me, as you have a propensity to not understand who Saints are.

Know ye not the Scriptures? How God made them Male & Female? That the two shall become one flesh?

Job 2:5 But put forth thine hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will curse thee to thy face.

Job 2:6 And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, he is in thine hand; but save his life.

Notice how Satan received power over Jobs flesh? That includes his wife.

By the way, to all of the other black people on the board, please accept my sincere apology if I offended anyone. I honestly don't know what I said that was wrong so I just won't comment on these matters any longer because I guess I have unwittingly offended before.
Should I even say "black?"...is that offensive? Blacks say "whites", so I'm assuming that's proper?
Argh...ok, I'm done with all of this because I don't know what I'll start next if I don't stop typing.
Please understand that I wouldn't hesitate to adopt a black/African American baby today or marry a black /African American woman tomorrow. I'm not a hater...I guess I just get my thoughts out wrong at times.

The same can hold true for the different races. A white person may look at the phrase African-American and say, hey we are all Americans, you have a problem with my country? Whereas a black person would say, hey that is my heritage, you have a problem with my culture? We all need to be aware of those differences. Also, regardless of out race or gender, we are told to "...be you kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake has forgiven you." (Eph.4:32 KJV) May God grant us grace and wisdom to fulfill His Word.
It also adds a different perspective when you have family members who suffered, even if you never knew them!
