Canadian News Anchor Issues Ominous Warning to America: Gun Registration Will Lead to ‘Confiscation’
Living in Canada, Sun News Network anchor Brian Lilley has already seen where seemingly innocent gun control measures can lead. During a news broadcast this week, Lilley warned Americans that gun registration led to gun confiscation in Canada, and the same thing will happen in the U.S. if citizens don’t defend their Second Amendment rights.

Lilley also told the story of Ian Thompson, who was charged for defending himself with a firearm against four men firebombing his home in Canada.

“We are at a state in Canada where they don’t want you using firearms for anything. Ever,” Lilley said. “That’s the push. And as we look at what’s happening in the United States, that’s what’s happening.” ...

Ah so it is to shoot the politicians that the "right to bear" was established. So I was right saying that arming y'all with assault rifles is about American justice.

Thankyou for your honesty Lurker.
But I don't expect to change America's Constitution, nor do I think America will, it's only a debate for me. I have actually never owned a gun of any description in my life, nor saw the need for it. We do not have gun stores here except for shotguns for those who need them such as farmers, gamekeepers etc.

As for personal protection from all these gun-toting criminals, well I've been all over the world, even to the USA, and never held or used a gun. Amazin eh?

Of course gun control can lead to confiscation.

That's the whole point of it. Something that proponents and critics of gun control can agree on.

Time to move on.

The way there is hope is responding , sounds like a "crazed lunatic" and shouldn't have access to a knife never the less a gun. I hate to say that but I read their is hopes comments are judgemental , and sounds like they are accusing all Americans of being potential "mass murderers" who hand out " justice out of a barrel of a gun". I want yo ask why there is hope is so hostile and judgemental. But I don't want to know. Like lurker wrote , get over it. I question your sanity too. You don't live here do who are you to judge America like you do ? This debate is stale now , get over it.

2. So the mass slaughter of those children is a sign of the quote, withdrawl of His blessings? And assault rifles are meant for good?
3. And Sandy Hook was the Lord doing His bit for evangelising the parents? I guess you also teach that God no longer uses the Bible as the sword(assault rifle)??
So you don't believe God is sovereign nor do you believe all things work together for the good of those who love God? (Actually, I'm just giving you a taste of your own medicine of false caricatures and intellectual dishonesty.) Taste good?

But, honestly, you are wasting your oxygen arguing against the right to bear arms in the USA. It is a right which will never be given up by the majority of the people nor taken away by the government.

Get over it.

---
Machine guns now is it? Your propensity to proclaim nonsense increases, yet you get offended when it is called rubbish? My my.

History has to be brought up when it is ignored. Here's another bit to help you understand your position on gun "control" better. You brought up the gangsters of the early 20th century. You write about the slaughter, but fail to mention the prohibition that preceded it, and created it. The attempt to "control" drinking by outlawing booze led naturally to criminal gangs being the only ones having it, and killing to maintain the monopoly. Perhaps it was guns led to the gangsters existence in your history books?

FORGET GUN RIGISTRATION & CONFISCATION FOR NOW & LOOK AT THE ELECTRIC-METER-REGISTRATION & CONFISCATION--& CITIZEN RESISTANCE--GOING ON IN THE CITY OF NAPERVILLE, ILLINOIS, U.S.A. TODAY !:

"NAPERVILLE WOMAN FACES DOWN SMART POWER METERS

Activist Group Raises Concerns About Privacy, Security And Health...

A mother of three who buys organic food and worries about the dangers of 'dirty electricity' has become the face of resistance in Naperville.

Led away in handcuffs after trying to prevent the installation of a 'smart meter' on her home, Jennifer Stahl vows to continue the protest movement that has made this suburban community ground zero in a battle over privacy rights versus modern technology.

'This is unreasonable search and seizure,' said Stahl, 40, who believes the devices designed to monitor power use are intrusive and pose a health risk. 'It definitely is not OK for my utility...to know when I'm home and not home.'

The arrests of Stahl and another prominent opponent, Malia 'Kim' Bendis, 40, only heightened tensions between city officials and members of Naperville Smart Meter Awareness, a group of residents who started to organize nearly two years ago. The group now numbers about 75 volunteers, Stahl said.

Let me just say one thing please if I may. As much as it is horrific to hear of gun violence in any form any gun control legislation will not solve the problem. It may prevent some but certainly not much.
But in this nation the right to own guns is a right. A right that was put there from the beginning in order to protect the people from an oppressive government. Europe and russia and china and north korea are all examples in the last century of what strict gun laws bring to a society...i for one think keeping guns in the hands of the people is worth the risk. No matter how depraved this nation continues to get

2. Gun control does work, it works to give an advantage to the criminals

3. So, I am respectfully dropping out of any further responses on this story

1. As for Washington - All the folks have to do is drive to the nearest gun store in another state. Since there are hundreds of thousands of arsenals to choose from then getting your own personal assault rifle is no prob!!!
# As for answers. You have no answer to the fact that in my country we don't have local arsenals all over the nation. And we don't display the same regular "Sandy Hook" which your country does.

2. "Gun control???" In other words a little bureaucracy - BUT still the same access to military hardware. You are kidding arn't you?
Remove the stores and remove the guns! That will save lives whether by the act of a criminal; - or by noncriminals who become criminals by virtue of the crime of shooting people because of the easy access of guns and the weapons mind set of America.

3. Bye for now. Thanks for the discussion.

Remember guns do not provide an alternative to justice in a society.

It appears you did not follow the link I provided. You would see that that the story you are quoting from is distorting the facts. You have no answer to the fact that Washington D.C. has the toughest gun control laws in our country and always one the leading areas of murders by firearms, same goes for the city of Chicago. You have no answer to the fact that Kennesaw GA requires heads of households to own guns and their crime rate went down nearly 90% and they have had less than a handful of murders in 30 years since the law was passed despite a large shopping mall and the states 3rd largest University(no small rural town). Gun control does work, it works to give an advantage to the criminals (you know the ones who murder with the weapon)over the law abiding citizen (the one who do not murder yet own a weapon) . (see 2/14/13 7:26 PM ...law enforcement officer NYC) I suspect you will not let the truth influence your position. So, I am respectfully dropping out of any further responses on this story. Have at it gentleman.

You're not keeping up with the facts on this debate. Here is a repeat of information I already provided to educate you on the murderous nature of the puruit of America to legalize military style hardware for everybody there.
Quote;
"19.5/1 = Ratio of people killed by guns in the U.S. compared to other developed countries in the OECD. For 15-to-20-year-olds, firearm homicide rates in the U.S. are 42.7 times higher than in other OECD countries, according to a 2011 UCLA School of Public Health study." [businessinsider.com]
You get the gist UpS??? nearly 20 to 1 ratio with the other developed (mainly European) countries.
America is culpable and badly needs to stop the slaughter of kids and others by mass murder.
Remove the problem is the obvious solution.
That problem is hundreds of thousands of retail outlets full to the brim with military style assault rifles and other hardware.
Don't ignore the facts - Six year old kids are being slaughtered becaue of America's "right to bear arms."
maybe I did not make myself clear in a previous post, I believe the OECD stats are manipulated stats in the story you are quoting.

If too many guns is the problem, then logically you are saying LESS guns is safer. This does not match the reality.
Inner cities where guns are highly regulated and "gun safe zones" like schools are where murders happen all the time, so WHY DIDN'T LESS GUNS WORK??

If you like less guns, try living where guns have been removed before and see how you like it. Mexico for starters and we could go on from there.
Your gun free utopia cannot exist while sinners live on this earth.

More rubbish. Pointing to Europe as model to follow is a joke, as the history of Europe is one written in blood throughout centuries of wars, broken up by an occasional respite. When did your gun controls on the people ever keep mass killings from happening? Or are your mass killings the more "acceptable" kind? Even now you move toward war, but are blind to it, yet preach self-righteous uninformed claptrap.

Shallow thinking.

Consider the possibility that God has withdrawn His blessings from this once great nation and allowing that which was meant for our good to be used for evil.

Also, consider the possibility that through all the unbearable grief the loved ones of the 26 teachers and children killed at Sandy Hook are burdened with, one may eventually call upon the name of Jesus begging for mercy and consolation. The OT bible (especially Judges) is filled with stories of God allowing bad things to happen so a remnant would turn back to Him.

But that's assuming you are a Christian who believes God is sovereign and all thinks work together for the good of those who love Him.

I wasn't Gonna get into the debate because I'm done with it , but unprofitable servant is 100% right. The first initial reports about newton was the nut used handguns and the ar15 was in the trunk. Now it quickly changed to the nut using the ar. The media lied obviously. There is hope is beyond mis informed and shows a extreme lack of knowledge. It's amazing to be that ignorant and harsh and argumentive towards people who have no intention if committing crimes with guns. But if that's the basis of his or her argument and he or she keeps bringing up mass murder than maybe that's deep in his or her heart or maybe they just have nothing better to do than complain about people they don't know and a country they probably don't live in. Everyone is entitled to. Their opinion and their is hopes comments is doing nothing to deter the felon or criminal from doing what they do. Maybe they should ride patrol with the cop then God willing he or she won't be as ignorant. This poster lives being combatant. And the only way to counter that is to shut them down .instead of crying in here go take a flight to Washington, D.C. . I think you'd fit right on with the rest of the frauds.

First thanks to the law enforcement officer for your post and your service. Will pray for your safety. To there is hope, do you really think that those who commit crimes buy the weapons they use legally? As pointed out previously there is a reason we call them criminals. Also, seeing most of this discussion is due to the shooting in Connecticut let us remember no assault weapon was used in the commission of that crime. You characterize our society as a bunch of vigilantes and don't even live here. Only the naive, sorry to say, thinks that if guns were outlawed society would be safer. Not only is there NO proof of such a thing, history indicates just the opposite.
