Guns: 'Packing heat in church' increasingly allowed in U.S.

As gun control takes high priority on Capitol Hill, state legislatures increasingly are allowing concealed guns in our most sacred place, the church, either for personal protection or for worshippers designated as church security personnel.

Arkansas, on Feb. 4, became the eighth state to pass legislation allowing concealed guns specifically in churches. In a lopsided bipartisan vote, state legislators voted to allow each church to decide whether individuals with concealed carry permits could take guns in church for personal protection. ...

For the sake of a future possible "20kids" it is realitic, logical, moral and just to do something about the easy availability of military style arsenals in your shopping malls.
Reality is, you have no clue what you're talking about.

Again no answer to the reality that law abiding citizens owning guns is a deterrent. No answer to the reality that the state in which this happened has the 5th toughest gun laws in the nation, including a ban on assault weapons which were NOT used in the commission of the crime. No answer to the reality that the shooter WAS stopped from buying a gun (kinda does in the argument that everybody can carry guns). He STOLE the gun from his mother (after he killed her) the reality is if you out law guns then only CRIMINALS who use the guns for ILLEGAL purposes will have guns. The problem is not the gun. You don't restrict the driving license of those who obey the law because drunk drivers kill people while driving drunk.
You don't ground all flights because one crashed and killed a number of people. You don't stop people from being killed by guns by taking them out the hands of those who use them lawfully. I really don't expect anything I just said to make a difference in your thinking.

You may not have realized that Jim from Lincoln has expressed several times his support for Obamacare and his disdain for the excuses that John Y uses for staying in the Catholic church. If you are implying that Mike is being smug or giving a pass to those who pay privately for their abortions, I must say I strongly disagree with your assumption. He is doing neither.

Actually, smugness does come a little more easily for those who pretend to be Christian, yet support abortion, which definitely is killing people.

Look at it this way, Jim. You claim no real Christian would own particular guns, because that makes them vigilantes, which is false. I say no real Christian would support Obamacare because it supports abortion, which is true.

If I own a .22, that endangers no one. If you support Obamacare, you approve of that which kills the unborn and makes you pay for it. Now go ahead and say you are opposed to abortion while you support a perverse program that is all for it, if you wish. That has about as much credibility as John Y saying he doesn't hold to the unscriptural parts of the Mass. Your self-justification is as meaningless as his.

Luke 14:31-33 Or what king, going to make war against another king, does not sit down first and consider whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him who comes against him with twenty thousand? 32 Or else, while the other is still a great way off, he sends a delegation and asks conditions of peace. 33 So likewise, whoever of you does not forsake all that he has cannot be My disciple.(NKJV) Law abiding citizen's who are armed act as a deterrent to crime. I still have yet to see anyone of the anti gun people who post refute that in Kennesaw GA they passed a law over 30 years ago requiring heads of household to own a gun. The law was passed as a reaction to Morton Grove, IL which passed a law banning gun ownership (what anti gun posts are saying we should do) In 30 years they have less than a handful of murders in Kennesaw and saw the crime rate go down by nearly 90%. Crime rate in Morton Grove, yup you guessed it, it went UP! As stated in previous posts on this article, if you ban guns you give the advantage to the criminals who are called that because they DON'T OBEY the law. I drive over 30 miles to work in a heavily populated metropolitan area of the South (where most people own guns), I don't believe I have ever seen a gun shop.

You know you should look at what a fellow gun owner in Arizona is trying to do, Giffords Eases Steadily Into New Life, and Cause.

By the way, the Israelis aren't particularly happy being used as example by the arm of American gun manufacturers, the NRA as an example, Israel miscast as gun-toting society.

John U.K., I wouldn't be surprised Methodist circuit riders carried rifles for protection from wild animals and hunting. Most circuit riding was done before there were effective revolvers out there. Methodists and other Protestants had very little problems. I would say even the Shakers, a weird group, didn't suffer persecution. Only the "White Muslims," q.v., A Look at Fundamentalist Mormonism suffered physical violence -- for obvious reasons.

Reminds me of the very first book I read as a new Christian, called "The Backwoodsmen" which was all about the days in America when Methodists were to the fore, and held evangelistic camp meetings all over. Persecution was so fierce that the evangelists often had to fight for their lives, that the gospel might go out. I don't remember if guns were used, but the violence was quite scary.

Jim/Peace, if it violates your conscience to carry a gun, don't carry a gun. The paternalistic smugness apparent in your posts is really annoying. There's nothing un-Christian about being armed.

Again, if you repeal the second amendment, it does nothing to the right to bear arms. It only makes that right harder to protect. That's like saying abolishing the foot as a unit of measurement makes one's height variable. It doesn't. It just makes it harder to quantify.

If "most law abiding citizens don't" kill people, you must have some very strange laws that allow for the remainder of your law abiding citizens to go round killing people.

You are arguing with ignorance, Mr. b. There is not even a comprehensive definition of "assault rifle." The media is as likely as any to not understand the difference between full auto and semi auto. As long as people "reason" with their emotions instead of their minds, you will hear this drivel repeated. Notice their willingness to make stuff up, just to argue against it? Drivel.

I'm not killing people with my rifle . Sorry to disappoint you. Most law abiding citizens don't . It's not my fault your country tells you what to do and what you can have. That's not my fault. I don't care if you don't like guns . That's your perogative . All you anti gun zealots think everyone with a rifle is a killer. And it's not so. And I will enjoy mine regardless if you or anyone else likes it or not. I will enjoy my toy!! Thank you.
