Opinion: Surprise! We voted for God's judgment

“Like all the other nations …” – i.e., we’re no longer exceptional, let us be like all the other nations. Sound familiar?

Old Samuel knew this desire was wrong and would lead the people even farther from God, into servitude, injustice and moral darkness. So he went to the Lord for guidance. But what did He say? “Do everything they say to you,” the Lord replied, “for it is Me they are rejecting, not you. They don’t want me to be their king any longer.”

From then on, for hundreds of years, the people suffered under foolish kings, many worse than the one before, still wanting their own way and forsaking the way of God who had made them great in their beginning. They ended in abject slavery, in Babylon captivity.

Don’t think that can happen to our America? Friend, our people have rejected the very same God and His way, and clamored after a king who has promised to provide, protect and lead them ...

"if anyone brings another Gospel, let him be accursed"

When I first read this, I thought, Finally! Someone showed me, using the Bible, why I should not have voted.
But now, I think this would apply to a spiritual leader or anyone, for that matter, who teaches anything which contradicts the Bible in any way.

Can this be applied to voting for a secular leader as well?

Hebrews 11:13 KJV
13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.

1 Peter 2:11-12 KJV
11 Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;
12 Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.

God bless all pilgrims everywhere.

I have been reading it and it is fascinating because I never knew the early history of the Puritans and the Pilgrim movements and it is helping me to explain my thoughts and also to properly identify the different mindsets today. I am definitely a Pilgrim and not a Puritan! You don't have to respond to this, so you can save your post. But I can't thank you enough.
Fellow ember!
I'm glad the article has been profitable for you, bro.

Btw, there are 17 titles on the left side.... each one a related article. I've read a few but need to read them all as time permits. Just thought I'd make you aware as I overlooked them for some time.

God bless.

Here I thought after your opening paragraph that you were above the "blame game".

Since you have effectively blamed nearly every professing Christian in the U.S., who cast a vote, of direct disobedience to God's revealed will (your exact words: "To vote for either was in direct violation of God's Word.); perhaps you should give us your biblical proofs to make such a sweeping accusation. If you can't, a retraction and an apology is in order and the Christian thing to do.

Well, now let me say. I am just about finished with the film and it was very good. The only thing that I object to is the false "implied" notion that Christianity is associated with those on the right, or the conservative or constitutional movements. My Lord was not a liberal, a moderate, or a conservative. He is the Son of the living God and He condemned the Saducees as well as the Pharisees. So the film identifies the works of Satan only as the wolf and not the wolf in sheep's clothing. My guess is they see more evil in MSNBC than Fox news. NO, NO, NO. The wolf in sheep's clothing is always more dangerous than a wolf we recognize.

Nothing will change the course of America and since I am a stranger and an alien, then I simply want the Lord to return and set up His kingdom. How this film could say God's hand set up our government/const. is beyond reason.

As I suspected, there would be flame throwers, after the election. The blame game has begun. This is apparent by some of the comments aimed at Angela Wittman(whom I do not know).

I'm not sure which news sources Christian's and "conservatives" are deriving their information, but some are sadly misinformed about who the real Mitt Romney is. GOOGLE:The Mitt Romney Report.

Mitt has not been nor been pro-life. He was the "father" of sodomite "marriage" in Massachusetts. He is a globalist. And above all, he is a Christ hating Mormon.

Christian's had two choices this year ( or do a write-in). We could vote for a Christ hating, Muslim, or a Christ hating Mormon. To vote for either was in direct violation of God's Word. According to Galatians 1, if anyone brings another gospel, let him be accursed.

Why in heaven's name would a Christian who revere's God's Word, want an accursed man, to lead their country?

Maybe we will now run to the throne, fall at the feet of Christ, and proclaim: There is no King but Jesus!

Cohn'l supporters participated more in the process than Rom supporters.

Hugely more.

they continue to try to inform conservatives on their own participation in the demise of the rep.

refusing to give public support to a man who married gay couples and brought forced gov abortion funding through healthcare intitiatives is not "not participating".

and this kind of banter is where we are at as a church family. quibbling is not my favorite thing, and I'd rather ignore, but there seems to be a long list of talking points and diversions that keep us from dealing head on with what has occured.

it was a bipartisan effort.

there are a remnant of conservatives in leadership, but almost all now are globalists.

I couldn't disagree with observationpoint more.

it is a spiritual issue, but politics is an outpouring of the spiritual. watching someone lie, which causes harm to the brethren and ignoring it for some kind of awakening, is basically, just being lazy.

the Christian will apply their faith and perspective in all areas of their lives.

to say hands off, just means that we believe in unrestrained evil.

Miss Angela, after much thought, I would like to ask your forgiveness for judging you. I can't say that I'm right or wrong but I can say that I could be mistaking my perception of you for extreme passion. I've been wrong before and I should not have approached you in the shocking manner that I did. Either way, taking into consideration that I'm probably more sinful than most of you combined, I have no right to be judging anyone. I hope that you can forgive me for doing so and that I didn't make you cry or effect your evening in a negative way.

Well, Jess, I am the same in "real life" as I am on the internet. Anyway, the reformed world really is small, especially in the St. Louis area and perhaps we will make acquaintance in the future. If you are looking for a good reformed church, I recommend Gateway OPC in West County. May the good Lord bless you this Lord's Day.

Still getting over the shock of the election loss...but I'm just about over it. When we paint voters in the States with a broad brush we can say that America is in a moral free fall. In reality the vote was more or less 50/50.

Some Christians voted third party or abstained because they just couldn't support Romney as he is a Mormon. I disagree with that line of thinking. I believe that Romney would have been a better choice simply because he and the party are against abortion. However, I respect these voters. They had a principle and they stood for it.

The net result is another Obama term. What I'm more disappointed about is the number of Christians that directly voted Obama in to keep the Morman and/or Republican out. The policies that Obama and his party supports and promotes are anything but Christian. The pro-choice, pro-gay, anti-gun, big tax and spend economy comes from the left side of the aisle. It isn't a seceret. They flaunt it. A real Christian should know better.

Just love how almost no one here has read or commented on what the gentleman from
Nova scotia said. So people chose to remain blind to what the true kernels of Christian faith. Judgment starts with the house of faith. Worry first about ur own judgement and those in ur church, family, etc. who did Christ call to change their ways? It wasnt the "pagan, unholy, gentile" Roman govt!! It was Jews, especially hypocritical Pharasees
