Where did all the Protestants go?
For the first time in its history, the United States does not have a Protestant majority, according to a new study. One reason: The number of Americans with no religious affiliation is on the rise.

The percentage of Protestant adults in the U.S. has reached a low of 48 percent, the first time that Pew Forum on Religion & Public Life has reported with certainty that the number has fallen below 50 percent. The drop has long been anticipated and comes at a time when no Protestants are on the U.S. Supreme Court and the Republicans have their first presidential ticket with no Protestant nominees.

Among the reasons for the change are the growth in nondenominational Christians who can no longer be categorized as Protestant, and a spike in the number of American adults who say they have no religion. The Pew study, released Tuesday, found that about 20 percent of Americans say they have no religious ...

I protest the Nicene assertion that baptism is for the remission of sins.

But John, if you were a Protestant, you would be protesting the Catholic Church and trying for Reformation. Did you not hear of the Protestant Reformation which sought to reform the Catholic Church. Now God looks on the heart, not on where you worship him. You can worship God halfway up a mountain and if your heart is right with God, and you worship in spirit and in truth, he accepts it. God does not see you as a labelled man (Catholic or Protestant or Orthodox) but as a man who is washed in the blood of Christ or who is still in his sins. These are pictured by Christ as "sheep" or "goats".
Mike....
I do protest the unscriptural Catholic doctrines on discussion forums. I stated that I am a Protestant in my heart but that legally I am a Catholic. When I attend Mass I only participate in the scriptural parts to the Mass and thus I worship Jesus in spirit and in truth since the scriptural parts to the Mass are biblical.

I believe that I can receive Jesus as Savior and Lord without the Mass. I believe that salvation is by faith alone in Jesus alone. I suppose then that in my heart I am a Protestant. But legally I am a Catholic as I attend and am enshrined on the membership roll of the local Catholic Church. The Catholic Church will never become cognizant that I do not subscribe to all Catholic doctrine as I have no intention of making them cognizant of that because it is none of their business what my beliefs are.

Ah but John, I was responding to your statement which did NOT say "I attend a Catholic Church" but "I AM A CATHOLIC".
Now then, if you believe you can receive Christ as Saviour and Lord WITHOUT the (blasphemous) mass, you CANNOT be a Catholic, and you are anathematised by the pope, with no hope of salvation (according to him).
If you believe that salvation is by faith alone in Christ alone, then you are NOT a Catholic; indeed the pope would anathematise you and excommunicate you, with no hope of salvation (according to him).
So which is it?

Your logic then says Mormons are Protestant non-Christians. But you are a Catholic non-Catholic. That is also your logic.

The only reason why I don't call myself a Protestant is that I do not attend and belong to any Protestant Church but instead attend the Catholic Church. Just because I attend the Catholic Church does not automatically mean that I am not a Christian. That is stupid thinking to state that because one who has embraced Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior attends the Catholic Church that they are not a Christian. The Bible states that one becomes a Christian when one embraces Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior without any other requirement such as church membership which you Evangelical Protestants on here state is a requirement for salvation.

I don't call myself a Protestant because I am Catholic. It is illogical for a denomination that is not Catholic or Eastern Orthodox to state that they are not Protestant. And it is illogical for Non Denominational Churches to state that they are not Protestant because they are not Catholic or Eastern Orthodox. The definition of the word Protestant is any believer in Christianity who is not Catholic or Eastern Orthodox.

I always thought that Mormons are Protestant. And how come Non Denominational Christians can no longer be categorized as Protestant? I consider Non Denominational Christians to be Protestant because they are not Catholic or Eastern Orthodox. Anybody who claims to be a Christian and is not Catholic or Eastern Orthodox is Protestant.

What is really said is the people who are Republicans first, then it follows they will join the right-wing Protestant, Mormon or Right-wing Catholic Churches. Politics and Christianity second. This really not Christian. You didn't find the apostle Paul arguing about politics, you might say he wasn't a liberal in social reform,

1 Corinthians 7
20 Let each man remain in that condition in which he was called.
21 Were you called while a slave? Do not worry about it; but if you are able also to become free, rather do that.
22 For he who was called in the Lord while a slave, is the Lord's freedman; likewise he who was called while free, is Christ's slave.
23 You were bought with a price; do not become slaves of men.---NASB

Since we have three candidates who belong to two of these three groups, Roman Catholics, Mormons and Jehovah Witnesses being in slavish support of any of them is not Christian.

Romanizing America Through Illegal Immigration is a problem to all including those who have become Christian.
