Tim Tebow’s 316 Passing Yards Evokes Biblical Number

It would have been more than enough for the polarizing Denver Broncos quarterback to simply lead his underdog team to victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday in the AFC wild-card game. And Tim Tebow did, thanks to his 80-yard touchdown pass on the first play of overtime that left the Steelers and the watching world simply stunned.

But then the facts and figures emerged, and the Internet verily exploded: Tebow threw for exactly 316 yards in the 29-23 upset win, presenting an eerie allusion to the Bible’s John 3: 16 passage — whose number Tebow famously wore in the black under his eyes when he led the Florida Gators to victory in the 2009 collegiate national championship game. What’s more, that event took place exactly three years ago on the same day as his latest miracle comeback. John Y., Except for your rather degrading remarks you are quite correct about Sunday not being the Sabbath, but it can be considered the Lord's Day, (but of course, all the days are the Lord's ). The Sabbath will always be on Saturday and it was established for the Jews. I would also add, if some Christians think that the Sabbath is Sunday they should take these verses into account:

Mark 2
27 And He was saying to them, "The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath.
28 "Consequently, the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath."---NASB

So, it is quite all right for them to play football, just as it's quite all right to go to church on Sunday or Wednesday for that matter. Legalism is Shadow, Christ is Substance. This is why you also fine for you to eat meat during Lent, John.

The Lords Day is the Christian Sabbath, the commonality in those that conform to a Saturday Sabbath do not understand the new order accomplished through our Redemption by the Blood of Christ. We enter Gods rest through Christ, through Christ alone we enter his rest.

Hebrews 4:1 Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it

SteveR, if you want to know what our position is on Sundays--which is not the Christian Sabbath--there is only one Sabbath and that is Saturday, I would suggest you listen to the sermon, Legalism is Shadow, Christ is Substance.

Oh, oh. I knew I shouldn't have the mentioned that happening in another thread about Mr. Tebow! SteveR, I wish you really had brought up the "magical" ideas this story will support. This is whyI used only the article about Mr. Tebow It's Tebow time: Denver quarterback inspires nation from USA Today and not this nonsense about, 3:16, the only place that it isn't nonsense is:

I wish to encourage a discussion of working on the Christian Sabbath and this Commandments status in contemporary culture. Because as yet, I have not found one religious leader comment on it despite the media attention to last Sundays ballgame between Pittsburgh and Denver.

What are the views of this Commandment in your Church?
