Cheating SC gov says God will make him better
South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford, still clinging to office after admitting to an extramarital affair, wrote in an opinion piece released Sunday that God will change him so he can emerge from the scandal a more humble and effective leader.

"(W)hile none of us has the chance to attend our own funeral, in many ways I feel like I was at my own in the past weeks, and surprisingly I am thankful for the perspective it has afforded," Sanford wrote in the opinion piece widely published online Sunday by South Carolina newspapers. ...

That's patent nonsense.

Paul, if you remember, argued that there would be a Great "falling away" (apostasy) before the 2nd Advent of Christ! Paul did NOT write that the Thessalonians didn't miss some pre-Great 7-Year Tribulation "rapture!"

Additionally, Paul's Thessalonican readers of his 1st & 2nd epistle to them did NOT have any Book of "The Revelation" (written decades later by John) to base any notion of a 7-year Great Tribulation upon! And they CERTAINLY didn't abuse Daniel 9:27 in order to fabricate some far off "peace treaty" between Israel & Antichrist and some specious "stoppage of the prophetic clock" (as far as the 70 Weeks was concerned)!

You conflate historic pre-millenialism with the bogus pre-Mill/Pre-Trib Dispensationalism of Darby-Scofield-Chafer which IS a totally different animal from what the early Christian Church believed. Afterall, that SAME early Christian Church had to go through the terrible percecutions which STARTED during Caesar Nero's reign and lasted (on and off) clear up to Constantine.

3. Satan is loosed and the final rebellion occurs;

4. The Lord creates a new heaven and new earth; Israel enjoys the Lord on the new earth, and the church enjoys the Lord in heaven.

So, while it may seem complicated,

# Yes very simple - therefore why do you guys have to invent all this Disney world to confuse the issue?

#1 Flying Christians??? Is this God using "means"??? - WHY does HE require them to fly???

#2 Jacob's "troubles" are being sorted out as we speak.

# "1000 years" - What a rip off Dispy!!! We the Elect are getting eternity.

#3 Satan's is doing his evil bit now!!

#4 You're not part JW by any chance are you Dispy???

Nuh!! It ain't complicated as long as you don't try to ruin the real plot as recorded in Scripture.

The book of Revelation uses figurative language. The millennium is figurative for now. The plan of God ceases when Christ returns and does Judgment day. Then eternal heaven or hell as the case may be. Simple eh!
This is the Promise!

And THAT, folks, is the Rube Goldberg ... uh, er ... the Pre-Mill/Pre-Trib Dizzy Spin Sational take on Christ's Second ... uh, er ... Third (or is it rather the 2nd [or 3rd?] PHASE of His Second) Coming?
BTW, ... All these eschatological contortions were unknown by the Church before ~1800. It took some "rapturous" vision by some entranced woman to solidify the foundation of Dizzy Spin Sationalism as preached by the (predominantly) American Evangelical church of recent vintage. The Reformers, Baptists, et al of 1500-1800 knew of no such nonsense. Guess they couldn't read Scripture!
You and Amill do argue the same way, via ad hominem attacks. Hardly worth responding to, I'm beginning to believe.

But one more time: although the Reformers recovered very important truth from the papists, they were not able to recover all the truth. In particular, they ignored eschatology and bungled ecclesiology, which is how we ended up with all the denominations.

The premillennial pre-tribulational view is as old as the first century A.D., else Paul would not have had to refute the claim made by some that the Lord had already returned and the Thessalonians had missed it.

So, while it may seem complicated, I'm sure anyone who can understand the doctrine of the trinity from scattered passages, let alone those who can somehow find the diagram of a tulip in nearly any passage of scripture will have no trouble putting together this picture of the end times, if they choose to put the effort into it.

It is certainly less complicated than the contortions the amills go through to explain away the relevant passages into complex mixtures of allegory and prophecy in A.D. 70.

Not sure who Jack van Impe and Rexella are, and don't feel like looking them up. I tend not to spend time on films.

And the Final Judgement WILL BE at His one (and only) Second Coming

... and NOT at the tail end of the "2nd phase" of His Second Coming (or rather, His THIRD Coming) as Pre-Mill/Pre-Trib Dispensationalists would have Christians believe!

(Or is it His 4th Coming? -- the "3rd phase" of His Second Coming? It gets confusing. Pre-Mill/Pre-Trib Dispensationalism has so sliced and diced and recompartmentalized so much of eschatology that it makes ones head spin ... but it makes for MUCH more exciting charts, diagrams, and endtime cartoons, whereas, amill eschatology is so BORING: when He comes again, the ballgame is OVER! Period.
No charts.
No diagrams.
No fancy cartoons.

No "good stuff" to make dramatic movies with -- nothing that Jack van Impe and Rexella could get their teeth into.)

AMills do not deny what is plain Scripture.

Whereas
"Dispy PreMills - ADD to Scripture what was invented from the 1830's onwards, by Darby and co.

Ignorant, murderous darbyists will, I notice, rarely relent their position because I think:
a) they would rather save face than admit they are seriously wrong, or
b) they spent soooooo much money on false end-times propaganda (Left Behind, Scofield reference Bible, and the like) and they don't want to feel like fools.
c) they love death.
That amills call for repentance is good. That they deny other parts of revealed truth is bad.

1. I will freely admit when I am wrong, when shown to be so from scripture. This you have not done.

2. I have not read Left Behind, do not own a Scofield (he was racist, by the way), nor have invested in much more than a few Bibles and several commentaries.

3. I really do not understand this charge. Acknowledging the truth that judgment and death is coming does not mean I love death. Reference your previous post, I find no reference to nuclear war in the Bible. We know the world will not be destroyed by nuclear war ; it will be destroyed by Jesus at the Final Judgment.

---
BTW, no pastor can tell you all the truth all the time. Only the Holy Spirit can do that for you. Ask yourself: Does God want me to side with deniers of scripture?

Why? It is more dangerous for a man to fall into the 'hands' of God than it is with other men. Amils call for repentance for all men.

Kind of like someone falling for a Ponzi/ pyramid/ MLM SCAM.

c) they love death.

For the rest of you with a conscious and a conscience, consider looking at your views very carefully. No more pastor to tell you what truth is, no more commentaries. Ask yourself: Does God want me to side with killers and murderers?

I pity you and fear for you if you don't know the answer to this!

Jim, you are consistent, even when making strained points. You still find "Catholic" in writings that don't even approach it.

I've noticed a lot of today's Christians like to throw stones. Short on forgiveness. Long on judgement. It also could be burn-out from all the politicians playing christian with the evangelical ticket.

WOW! He's equating the consequence of 'stolen waters' with a funeral. Interesting. I wonder what he would equate murder with? You know, like Dispy's who want nuclear war.
