BALTIMORE — Benedict XVI will make his first visit to the USA as pope next year, going to the 9/11 Ground Zero site, addressing the United Nations and saying Masses at baseball stadiums in Washington and New York.
Nearly 300 bishops stood to applaud after the pope's U.S. representative, Apostolic Nuncio Archbishop Pietro Sambi, announced the plans Monday at the opening session of the three-day fall meeting of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops.
The visit, set for April 15-20, will coincide with Benedict's 81st birthday and the third anniversary of his papal election. As a cardinal, he visited the USA twice....
In regards to God ALMIGHTY some things are understandable. Martin Luther grasped God's attribute of foreknowledge in his reply to Erasmus,"On the Enslaved Will". In reviewing Erasmus's preface, (iv)Of the necessitating foreknowledge of God (614-618)he brings forth a great truth.

In other words simply, if God looks into future events, they then happen exactly how He foresaw them or God would not be almighty but some lesser form of a deity made in man's imagination.

This is a very deep theological question. I think that, with the help of divine grace, it is possible to avoid all sin, even the smallest. However, human nature being fallen, it would require a life-long heroic effort, and I’m sure it has never happened. (I make exception in the case of Mary, but that’s another matter.)
God may withhold his grace from certain unrepentant sinners, but they still sin through their own free will. This I accept, but don’t understand. I think St Paul discusses it somewhere.
The RCC teaches that only the undefiled may enter heaven, which may mean that most of the saved have to undergo some sort of atonement between death and entering into the presence of God, yet much of the atonement can be made here on earth through prayer and penance. (Works, I’m afraid.)
And Wayne... I wouldn’t trust anything that Boettner says about the RCC. He is renowned for his inaccuracy. I’d double check with another source.

The extreme hypocrisy of the RC Church on the marriage/divorce subject is amazing if one looks into it a little.
While the Romish church does not recognize divorce even on biblical grounds, even in countries where the civil law recognizes it, "the RC church grants annulments on the basis of excuses so flimsy that they would not be given serious consideration in a civil court." While the RC church makes great pretenses of being pro-family and against divorce, the RC Canon Law says that a marriage can be declared "annuled" (as if it never existed) 'if one party joins a non-Catholic sect; or educates the offspring as non-Catholics.' Boettner says this rule is so sweeping that a Catholic parent, in some cases, can get a complete annulment, if the other parent sends a child to an American public school without the priest's permission.
The Popish church has such mind control over it's people that they believe anyone who is divorced and remarried is living in adultery regardless of the fact that the divorce was on biblical grounds (Matt.5:32; 19:9). Yet they gladly accept the unbiblical annulment of marriages, one excuse being that one party claims they never actually consented to full marriage. What an abomination! Rev.17

Lance I am sorry to say it hardly matters if your definition of election is right or wrong since at its core the Roman Catholic Religion has made God and Jesus Christ to be something less than and quite different from how God Himself in Scripture reveals Himself to be.
Being a Roman Catholic you should already know this because Catholics are not taught by your "church" to trust in the LORD with all their heart and to believe in Jesus Christ for the free gift of eternal life but to trust mainly in the Roman Catholic Mary, Sacraments, their own sufferings, indulgences, etc. etc. etc.
It might be safe to say if devote people could ever live so good as to merit heaven those sincere devote Catholic people would certainly be at the top of the list...and yet for all they've done it would still not merit a single drop of blood that Jesus willingly shed for them and if anything refusing to trust in Him for the free gift of eternal life trying to make themselves good enough would actually be an enormous insult to His grace.
