IRS Warns Churches to Stay Neutral on Politics
The Internal Revenue Service is warning churches and nonprofits that improper campaigning in the upcoming political season could endanger their tax-exempt status.

The agency also launched a program to expedite investigations into claims of improper campaigning, prompting an advocacy group to charge this month that the program could restrict the free speech of nonprofit groups and churches.

Communism is an economic/political system whereby the state owns the means of production and renders the wealth of the nation from each according to their ability to each according to their need, regulating price and wage controls in order to stabilize the wealth of the nation to prevent either excessive wealth or poverty. Capitalism (it's counterpart) allows for private ownership of capital and advocates a system of government "hands off" allowing for the free market to find it's own level thus rewarding the industry of individuals and relying on private charity to care for the needs of the misfortunate, and creating a beneficial system whereby lack of ingenuity, and desire to work result in a lower standard of living for those unable or unwilling to take responsibility for themselves. Please explain how EITHER of these systems as defined by economists relates to a religious group being entitled to tax exempt status while engaging in political contests resulting in the election of individuals who are sworn to obey a constitution that forbids an endorsement of a particular religion or the free expression (worship) thereof. Could you be possibly leaving an additional "K" out of your Nomme de Plume?

It was L.B.J. that saw to it that this policy was implemented --- he had an agenda [years ago] and he FEARED the Pastors in their Pulpits and the Church as a POWERFUL Influential Body.
--- [The Church Today???] --- We The People Best WAKE UP!!!

Our Forefathers would have NEVER sat still for this stupidity!!! --- They would not have sat still for much of the insanity we have allowed today.

This policy is nothing short of "Communistic" and it has no place here in America!!! --- But what can you expect of a people that have forgotten where they have come from --- a people that are self-centered and lost in their own self-indulgences --- Yes, a people that say they LOVE GOD yet their Hearts are far from HIM in their willful denial of That Which Is Upright, Just and True In Accordance With HIS WORD... --- Just look at what we have done (accepting the unacceptable) --- (???).

WAKE UP America!!! WAKE UP Church!!!

Mike, I fully agree with you about Christians speaking out on moral issues etc, I just don't believe a church should be getting into political issues (as in urging people to 'vote for Mr X').

The two are different. Scripture tells us that God can "use the basest of men" so our concern is the moral side.

"The Internal Revenue Service is warning churches and nonprofits that improper campaigning in the upcoming political season could endanger their tax-exempt status."

I wonder by what authority a government agency can tell a church what can be spoken in the meeting house? Where is the ACLU? I would think they would be in there screaming about separation of church and state.

Oh well. One real problem is tax exemption, which allows government a foothold. Another is the church's insistence on being set up as a corporation, in order to obtain the first problem. 501c3, not good. Churches have asked for the interference.

It is less about the church staying out of politics, and more about being told not to speak out on evil in government, or on the moral issues of the day, or pointing out the candidates' stance on them. Not to speak out is an evil itself, and the love of money is the source of the silence.

A shame that the IRS should have to point out to the churches what should be obvious to them from the bible anyway - Christians are to have no part in this worlds politics.
