JY How do you know it's the vergin mary, does it speak and say her name like my grandaughters barbie doll? Or did some Idol worshipper in the papish church tell you it was her? SO COME ON TELL US HOW YOU KNOW IT'S MARY Read this verse JY and tell us if you think your Idols and pictures of CHRIST should be had by one who says he is christian. "Forasmuch then as we are the ofspring of GOD,WE OUGHT NOT TO THINK THAT THE GODHEAD is like unto gold or silver,or stone,Graven by ART and man's device".ACTS 17-29
JY, Strange I don't seem to recall ever defending nor defaming Luther??? John, please don't put words into my mouth. Okay?
But I will point out to you it is clearly stated in the 10 Commandments Exodus 20:7 Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.
John, could that just possibly include those who profess Jesus as their personal Savior and continue to live a life of disobedience?
Matthew 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
John, you or I may never have put on a blasphemous show like Madonna but givng empty lip service to Him as a Savior we rebel against obeying would make us every bit as much guilty just in a more subtle religous way.
By the way a heart that longs to obey Him because one loves Him who died for them is quite different than the one who professes Him as 'personal Savior' just so they can supposedly escape the hell and go to a wonderful place when they die.
gay guy Those relics of the "true" cross most have been found with all those heads of john the baptist and the bones of all those "saints" you worship. boy you make me fall about holding may sides .hear the one about the pope being infallible you should be on stage gg,are you sure you didn't write for a paper we used to have over here,it's called Billy's weekly liar
BOY IT'S A GOOD JOB THATS WHY "YE MUST BE BORN AGAIN"
What a load of lies she has been told gay guy. Let us look at what a papish council says, what the pontifical says, and what your "saint"aqunas says. Second council of nice,"and give them(the images)the salutation and honorary worship,NOT indeed the true LATERA,according to our faith, which belongs to the divine nature ONLY"-Labbe's councils,paris,1672. The pontifical,"the cross of the legate, because LATERA IS DUE TO IT,shall be on the right hand".Roman Pontifical. Aquinas,"since, therefore,CHRIST is to be adored with the worship of LATERA,it follows that His IMAGE IS to be adored with the worship of LATERA".-Question 25,art 3,3rd part,Sum.Theol. The council of trent in Sess 25 says "due honour and veneration should be rendered to IMAGES,but when you Inquire what honour is,you recieve no definate answer. So when your "born again"you don't listen to the lies and traditions of a church you are lead by the SPIRIT OF GOD AND TO HIS WORD ALONE FOR TRUTH. Worship either, latera or dulia, superior or inferior, given to IMAGES,is IDOLATORY according to my bible
BUT HEY THATS WHY "YE MUST BE BORN AGAIN" CAUSE YOU BECOME A CHILD OF GODS,and not as the bible says, your father the devil, cause he was a liar and a muderer from the beggining.JN 8-44=45
It is true that I have a statue of the Virgin Mary, pictures of Saints, a couple of Crucifixes, a couple of pictures of Christ, a Roman Catholic Rosary and a Eastern Orthodox Rosary but I see nor reason to get rid of them since I do not pray to or bow down to them and thus I am not engaging in idolatry. And one of the Crucifixes is a family heirloom because it belonged to my Grandparents(Mother's parents) and I do not have hardly anything from my Grandparents. Also one of the pictures of Christ and the Eastern Orthodox Rosary are family heirlooms because they belonged to my Great Aunt(Mother's Aunt) and I do not have hardly anything from my Great Aunt.
Just who do you think you are anyway moron to state that I am a pagan? And learn how to spell you moron because you make all kinds of grammatical spelling errors. I am not a pagan because a pagan does not believe in any aspect of Christianity and I definitly believe in every aspect of Christianity.
Luther also got rid of the 2nd Commandment against idolatry and Luther also split the 10th Commandment into 2 Commandments and Luther had received Christ as his Savior and you have no problem believing that Luther was saved and went to Heaven after he passed away. But if a Roman Catholic states that they had received Christ as their Savior you seem to not believe that they really had received Christ as their Savior and that they will gain entrance into Heaven after they pass away. That seems a little irrational to believe that Luther was saved and went to Heaven after passing away and not believe that a Roman Catholic who has received Christ as their Savior like Luther did is saved and will gain entrance into Heaven after they pass away.
(Part II) until the Easter Vigil, one genuflects before the crucifix used in the celebration.
Historically, the reason for the use of this special gesture of veneration is probably because the rite of veneration of the cross originated in Jerusalem toward the end of the fourth century and in Rome in the seventh and were directed toward the principal relics of the True Cross kept in these cities.
Only later, when the rite became common, was the sign of veneration usually reserved to the True Cross extended to the crucifix used in the celebration.
While the object of adoration or worship IS ALWAYS CHRIST, the special veneration of the cross on these days seems to say that although the tabernacle is empty, all other images covered, and the Church silently awaits the resurrection, his divine presence is symbolized by the image of the cross through which he saved us from our sins.
Finally, a question came from an Indiana reader about a particular expression.
She writes: "I have a concern about the wording or action that takes place on Good Friday, that is, the 'Adoration of the Cross.' I was taught that we may only adore or worship the Trinity, not any other saint or angel, and certainly not an inanimate object. Is this, then, the proper term to be used for such a rite? I have also heard it referred to as 'Veneration of the Cross,' yet the song we sing states, 'Come let us adore.' Could you please clarify for me?"
The official title for this rite is "Veneration of the Cross” and the reply to the invocation "This is the wood of the cross on which hung the Savior of the World” is "Come let us worship" ("venite adoremus"). The word "worship" in modern English is usually, albeit not exclusively, reserved to the divine. It is true that the Church does not offer an act of adoration to a figure of wood but to Christ. All the same, the veneration of the crucifix on Good Friday is vested with a special intensity that is different from the respect shown toward the crucifix during the rest of the year. For example, from the celebration of the Passion and on Holy Saturday until the Easter Vigil (Cont'd)
Typical papist tries to make the bible fit his pagon religion. Just for his(gay guys) education, the rubric for good friday says"come let us worship the wood of the cross"OH we papist's don't worship IDOLS Why even that pagon heretic JY has them in his own home,so he tells us THANK THE LORD IT'S BY FAITH,AND NOT OF WORKS OF BAPTISM AND THE MASS EPH 2-8=10
GG, you're the one pushing Mother Church on us, so no fallacious distractions please. Admit it - there's more than just Micah 6:8 involved, there's infused righteousness & Sacraments, and the boatload of traditions that accompany your "gospel."
It would seem from its context that Micah 6:8 refers only to God's children. Observe Micah 6:3, "O my people". Thus, the only ones who can truthfully benefit from obeying God's command in Micah 6:8 are those sinners who have experienced a second birth, a spiritual birth, born from above, born again, born into God's family. Born, not only of the flesh, but also of the Spirit. Born, not only of water, but also of the Spirit.
"what the LORD requires" You can only do those things WHEN YOUR,AS THE LORD SAYS "BORN AGAIN" HE also says"there is none righteous""there is none that doeth good""there is none that seeketh after GOD". You should try reading all the bible not just the bits you try to make fit your religion
BUT HEY THATS WHY "YE MUST BE BORN AGAIN" then you believe all what GODS WORD (JESUS)SAYS
Like the Jews and some Lutherans, the RCC will drop the inclusion of the injunction against 'idolatry' in public displays of the 10 cmds for brevities sake, only because the injuction against having other gods covers both situations. The original order remains as it always has in Catholic Bibles. The RCC has always and will always teach its children NOT to worship any idols of anykind and in any place. This straw-man is always raised by Prots because they aren't very orginal thinkers.
