It is true that I have a statue of the Virgin Mary, pictures of Saints, a couple of Crucifixes, a couple of pictures of Christ, a Roman Catholic Rosary and a Eastern Orthodox Rosary but I see nor reason to get rid of them since I do not pray to or bow down to them and thus I am not engaging in idolatry. And one of the Crucifixes is a family heirloom because it belonged to my Grandparents(Mother's parents) and I do not have hardly anything from my Grandparents. Also one of the pictures of Christ and the Eastern Orthodox Rosary are family heirlooms because they belonged to my Great Aunt(Mother's Aunt) and I do not have hardly anything from my Great Aunt.

Luther also got rid of the 2nd Commandment against idolatry and Luther also split the 10th Commandment into 2 Commandments and Luther had received Christ as his Savior and you have no problem believing that Luther was saved and went to Heaven after he passed away. But if a Roman Catholic states that they had received Christ as their Savior you seem to not believe that they really had received Christ as their Savior and that they will gain entrance into Heaven after they pass away. That seems a little irrational to believe that Luther was saved and went to Heaven after passing away and not believe that a Roman Catholic who has received Christ as their Savior like Luther did is saved and will gain entrance into Heaven after they pass away.

Historically, the reason for the use of this special gesture of veneration is probably because the rite of veneration of the cross originated in Jerusalem toward the end of the fourth century and in Rome in the seventh and were directed toward the principal relics of the True Cross kept in these cities.

The official title for this rite is "Veneration of the Cross” and the reply to the invocation "This is the wood of the cross on which hung the Savior of the World” is "Come let us worship" ("venite adoremus"). The word "worship" in modern English is usually, albeit not exclusively, reserved to the divine. It is true that the Church does not offer an act of adoration to a figure of wood but to Christ. If you want to tie the new birth in with anything like baptism, you will have to wrench this verse out of your Bible. I do not advise you to do this.

It would seem from its context that Micah 6:8 refers only to God's children. Observe Micah 6:3, "O my people". Thus, the only ones who can truthfully benefit from obeying God's command in Micah 6:8 are those sinners who have experienced a second birth, a spiritual birth, born from above, born again, born into God's family. Born, not only of the flesh, but also of the Spirit. Born, not only of water, but also of the Spirit.

Like the Jews and some Lutherans, the RCC will drop the inclusion of the injunction against 'idolatry' in public displays of the 10 cmds for brevities sake, only because the injuction against having other gods covers both situations. The original order remains as it always has in Catholic Bibles. The RCC has always and will always teach its children NOT to worship any idols of anykind and in any place.
