FAU student says he was suspended for not 'stepping on Jesus'

A student at Florida Atlantic University's campus in Davie says he couldn't believe what he and his fellow students were asked to do by their instructor three weeks ago.

Ryan Rotela, a junior from Coral Springs at FAU, said what happened was an insult to his intelligence.

He said the instructor in his Intercultural Communications class at FAU told everyone in the class to take out a piece of paper, write the word JESUS on it in bold letters, and then put the paper on the floor and stomp on it. ...

Thanks Unprofiterable, very profitable.

John? Do you have friends in the RC church - or are you one of those who come in late and sit at the back, suspicious and wary, and leave early?
Thats what I miss most. The peace of the Mass. Just me and God.
The 'Protestant' experience is so hyper active and intrusive of ones personal space. However, once you begin to see things amiss it will only get worse for you. I shall mention you specifically in my requests that Our Father make life more and more uncomfortable for you.

John, I watched passive faced women processing to kiss the feet of a huge plaster Jesus eternally nailed on a cross. I kept saying to God: Why are they wearing red lipstick? It was awful. They left imprints of their lips on his feet. I knew in that moment it was offensive to Jesus, and it was so very very deceitful in its abuse of Him - these souless women kissing 'Jesus' feet - and they had remembered to put on their lipstick! I still shudder at the symbolism John.
It is the fear of God and His Son who is sitting at His right hand in GLORY that I now have developed in me, causing me to voluntarily appeal to RC's at this time. Not from regard of law do I appeal but from regard of free pardon and freedom from dead works,in regard of Mercy and Grace.

No reason to be frustrated. Two issues: tradition is very powerful, and dead people cannot believe the truth (Ephesians 2, Romans 8:7, John 3). We preach the Gospel, sow the seeds and only God does the work. Our wisdom and eloquence cannot and does not convert people (most American Evangelicals would disagree---Paul Washer points this out in his crusade against decisional regeneration). Google "How to botch an altar call" and view the video by livingwaters/way of the master. Funny, but sad.

Now I am confused. More than once (latest one I found on 12-16)you have said, "If I refrain from participating in the unscriptural parts to the Mass then I am not supporting the unscriptural parts of the Mass."
If you REFRAIN from participating how could the RCC NOT be aware of what you believe?

I am actually a little bit angry that after so much time spent speaking the truth concerning the many heresies of the Roman Catholic church, and posting fact, after fact, after fact, it all continues to fall upon deaf ears. Never a question, never more than a sentence in response to the 100's of concerned posts, never a spark of concern or glimmer of hope...nothing, nothing, nothing. Incredibly frustraing and I just don't get it...the closed mindedness, that is.

I am absolutely stunned by a couple of the posts that I read below. I am really beginning to lose hope as my eyes open wider, but still realize that God can do anything. Unfortunately though, He will only work within us if we invite Him to with an open mind, heart, etc; seeking the truth, wanting to change. Boy, very sad to see anyone with such a hard heart and closed, locked up tight, mind.

Mary's Roman Catholic title, "Mother of God", although I get their thought, is so misleading and is one of the things that has helped to diefy her within the world of Roman Catholocism. Mary has been elevated to a goddess who is in charge of all, Jesus, being subservient to her, must do whatever she tells him (RCC's own statement), and God, well, He is just floating around somewhere in the ether watching it all go down because Mary has it all under control.
My hope is that someday, before it's too late, a spark will ignite within the Roman Catholic body, and they will begin to see
how they have, and are being deceived.
This can only happen when they begin to read and study the word of God, comparing what He says to what they have been taught, and through prayer.
I guess it all begins with their actually wanting to know the truth though, and that begins with an open mind.

Frank, False, the Catholic Church is not a Cult since it worships Jesus as God. A Cult does not worship Jesus as God.
I would say RCC worship another Jesus, than the Jesus of the Bible. They worship a Jesus you can't approach because he's too busy (i.e. go to Mary). They worship a Jesus whose work and atonement was insufficient for salvation for those who believe (i.e. purgatory, penance, treasury of merit, works of supererogation, last rites, etc). The worship a Jesus whom they can call down from heavy to their altar (i.e. the Mass). They worship a Jesus who appears to still hang on a cross. I'd almost say they worship another God (idolatry) since they saw fit to remove the second commandment about graven images. Apparently their God is ok with graven images.

In any event there have been heresies that deny Jesus came in the flesh and only had a spirit (Gnostics, see John's epistles)-- Christian Science anybody?

Your definition of Cult is too narrow. Or maybe Cult is the wrong word...how about false religion. I believe John MacArthur said RCC was a pagan religion with a sprinkling of Jesus.

Thou shall not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain.

What does the third commandment teach us? To revere God's name, word, and works.

....the Lord saith, It shall not be so: for them that honour me, I will honour, and they that despise me, shall be despised. 1 Sam 2:30 Geneva Bible

9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: 10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of [things] in heaven, and [things] in earth, and [things] under the earth; 11 And [that] every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ [is] Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Phil 2:9-11

Regardless of the professor or the deceived, they will bow down before the Lord Jesus. Let us pray for them that they receive the Gospel of Jesus (the one and only Son of God) and repent. Pray that God the Father may grant them grace and not pour the cup of wrath upon them. If still unrepentant, may God pour his wrath upon them as written in the book of Revelation. Sola Gratia, Sola Fide, Solus Christus, Sola Scriptura, Soli Deo Gloria

"He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him." 1John 2:4.

Roman catholics do not keep the commandments of God. The second commandment is don't practice idolatry. Roman Catholics practice idolatry, iconolatry and maryolatry.
This being so the Roman Catholics are quote "liars" and the truth is not in them.

Yes, along with Frank, I am right glad to be anathematised by the RCC, as it don't count a dollar what they think of me, only the Lord.
