Leon Panetta, in one of his last acts as President Obama's defense secretary, is preparing to announce the policy change, which would open hundreds of thousands of front-line positions and potentially elite commando jobs after more than a decade at war, the Pentagon confirmed Wednesday.
The groundbreaking move recommended by the Joint Chiefs of Staff overturns a 1994 rule banning women from being assigned to smaller ground combat units. Panetta's decision gives the military services until January 2016 to seek special exceptions if they believe any positions must remain closed to women.
"This policy change will initiate a process whereby the services will develop plans to implement this decision, which was made by the secretary of defense upon the recommendation of the Joint Chiefs of Staff," a senior defense official told reporters on condition of anonymity....
How bout putting obama. In combat. Then again with that build he might not pass basic. Or maybe on the battlefield he will put a flower in the enemies barrel or pin the communist hammer and sickle on their uniform and offer them obamacare.

Actually Jim, I agree that the GOP isn't going to do things right. They think they need be more like Democrats, which of course is as wrong a way to do things as is possible. Dem vs Rep= Corrupt vs Dumb
As for the BBB version of the (Tea Party types) they're still stewing over the original Tea Party. Poor losers, what can you expect? And they have it wrong, the stupid ones nowadays vote Democrat, not that BBC opinion of what goes on here should be taken seriously. Government news is what it is
Mike of N.Y., --I said-- the Constitution can be changed in ways --I-- won't like either! Rights are defined by law and many times they were ignored, President Andrew Jackson ignored the laws and treaties concerning the Cherokee Indians. I can't predict the future, though God does, and it sure isn't going to be pretty for anyone who isn't raptured! I'm an not even hostile to idea to make things fairer, better, and protecting rights in this country, even though it's like sticking a finger in a failing dike. In other words a delaying action.

Jim Lincoln wrote: Oh, yes, it does, Mike N.Y.! For example Jews don't support the Appalachian idea on abortion, (even though I'm friendly to it), but as I said the Jewish thought on abortion, Is abortion in Christianity a mistranslation of Bible?. Gun control is popular with most of the population, but the NRA and their whore politicians will probably block even the simplest of controls. Oh, well, the Constitution can be changed, and it very well might be in ways that you, and yes even I won't like.
Which of the Bill of Rights is a right granted by government, Jim?

In a republic, the majority rules but does not rule out the minorities rights. The "Appalachian culture" you snidely refer to doesn't ask that the rest of the society abide by their view; it asks to be left alone by them. The so-called "Appalachian culture" is responding to a leftist agenda. You would not have heard a thing from them had the Constitution-defying politicians not pushed themselves onto them.
History should be understood in the sequence in which it occurs.
You're going to get more done by the State, if you want it or not, because there has been a destruction of unions, and white collar workers are going to say enough with the plutocrats q.v., Plutocrats: Who are the richest of the rich? So, I suggest you just adapt to it or join the Mennonite colonies in Latin America.
I would always state (hmm, no I'm not developing that great of fondness for the word. ) But the Appalachian culture some may cling to, is not the majority idea anymore. So, I would suggest you do you best to reason with your fellow Americans, to see if you can get them to change course, though always realizing you can't put off the inevitable. Our Greatest Responsibility to the World is not even fighting a delaying action to put off the inevitable--because it is inevitable! How the Church Relates to the Kingdom. You aren't going to build the Kingdom!
Since our current primary foes appear to be Islamist, and therefore highly "paternal", I would imagine that fielding women to fight against them would actually motivate these enemies to fight even harder and more desperately if for no other reason than to avoid the added humiliation of having to surrender to a female soldier as opposed to a male one.
Granted radical muslims are going to hate us anyway, but I continue to marvel at how our modern culture continues to pursue policies that do nothing but increasingly inflame the passions of our enemies, making them want to destroy us even more.
its a restructuring of society in which all things come through the state.
its collective power.
the individual and the family only exist where it is given through the authority of the state.
by the time of WWII, Hitler's youth were already disgusted, having been removed from their families, and then there were the brownshirts (pink swastikas)... then there were Mao's youth, sent out to redistribute by targeting certain classes, and sent away from families, years later realizing what fools they had been, losing their most precious things for nothing.
I will never ever allow my daughters to be drafted into military service by this Godless government or any other. I will go to prison, move to another country, whatever. Where are the men with a backbone to stand up for their families?
Blymar wrote: The modern woman is becoming less and less female which is not only confusing the roles of women but also confounding society itself. Authority can only be authority when God providentially provides it. Authority without God is dominated by sin in mankind. Just as morals today are becoming less moral, the authority of female as God created her is becoming less feminine. Which applies to the male also. Gender and family are the very seed of cohesion in society to remove them is destroy that society. God does not bless society today. Thus the confusion (chaos) brought about by sin and the absence of God constructs a false and profligate western society where future generations can only disintegrate and deteriorate.
Perfectly stated. This is one of the devil's end time objectives. Men to be as women, and women to be as men.
