Where did all the Protestants go?
For the first time in its history, the United States does not have a Protestant majority, according to a new study. One reason: The number of Americans with no religious affiliation is on the rise.

The percentage of Protestant adults in the U.S. has reached a low of 48 percent, the first time that Pew Forum on Religion & Public Life has reported with certainty that the number has fallen below 50 percent. The drop has long been anticipated and comes at a time when no Protestants are on the U.S. Supreme Court and the Republicans have their first presidential ticket with no Protestant nominees.

Among the reasons for the change are the growth in nondenominational Christians who can no longer be categorized as Protestant, and a spike in the number of American adults who say they have no religion. The Pew study, released Tuesday, found that about 20 percent of Americans say they have no religious ...

I for one am still a Protestant, certainly protesting that countless souls are deceived by the false religion of Roman Catholicism, but protesting more that so many professing Christians today appear that they do not know much of their Bible, leave alone church history, in order to see the spirit of error in Roman Catholicism that we should be protesting!

Poor old capslock, he gets in a fix everywhere:

"Tony, if your comment here is any indication of how you campaign, I think the good people of the 4th district were right to decline to elect you as their representative. Lay off the caps lock and threats of god's vengeance, crazy man."

Ah, no I assume Tony Cisneros a.k.a. Street Preacher a.k.a.... ad infinitum is still attending 1st Baptist of Hammond, Ind.? Don't want to run in to him? Try, Christian Fellowship Church.

Tony has many of the unique beliefs of Identity: A 'Christian' Religion for White Racists and I might add he ran for Congress on the Republican ticket several years back. Running for any more political offices, Tony?

Oh, back to the article, Protestants became either right-wing Republicans if they were conservative Protestant and if they were in the mainline churches, they often became Democrats of a somewhat liberal stripe. In either case they didn't have time for the unimportant work :-7 of proclaiming the Gospel. The Truth Behind The Church's Purpose

Matthew 28:18-20 (New American Standard Bible).

Ah, "True Blue Jew," the man with a thousand aliases One thing is for certain he does support, Identity: A 'Christian' Religion for White Racists.

John Y., no, there is a group of churches that aren't Christian such as the Romish one, Should Roman Catholicism really be classified as a Christian religion? -- No. and those who are in make a mistake to think they are Christian, Is A Catholic Christian An Oxymoron?. However, those who think they are Catholic and take a pick and choose attitude about Catholic doctrine, i.e., Doctrinal Smorgasbord?, are a heretic to the Romish Church as well.

By the way, John Y., you belong to the group such as Roman Catholics, Mormons and Jehovah Witnesses do, who believe that works are a part of salvation.

Guess I am trying to figure out what part of the mass is Scriptural? or for that matter what Catholic doctrine is Scriptural. They definitely teach if you do the sacraments you don't make it to heaven, the Scriptures teach that false gospel is anathema, so really pressed here to know what part of Catholicism is practicing the Bible.

---
Getting saved is not just a get-out-of hell ticket, John Y. It is about following Christ and following bibliical principles established for believers, continuing after they are saved.

Acts 8:36-38
"And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?
And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.
And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him."

Acts 10:47-48a "Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?
And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord."

If you are a true believer, John, which is to have priority in your life-the Word of God, or your feelings about salvation, church attendance, etc?

No I have not been re Baptized yet. I may get re Baptized in the future at a Baptist Church without joining or attending a Baptist Church. But since Baptism is not required for salvation then even if I do not get re Baptized then I will remain saved. I am counting only on what Jesus did for me in His life and in His death, and in His Resurrection, to get me to Heaven. I am not trusting in Baptism or the Sacraments for salvation. I still believe that there are 7 Sacraments but I believe that the Sacraments are just church ceremonies dealing with various stages in life and have nothing to do with salvation.
