US ambassador to Libya, 3 American staff members killed in attack

The U.S. ambassador to Libya and three other American staff members were killed Tuesday in an attack on the U.S. consulate in the Libyan city of Benghazi, the White House confirmed. President Obama, in a written statement issued Wednesday morning, called the attack "outrageous" and "senseless."

Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens was killed Tuesday night when he and a group of embassy employees went to the consulate to try to evacuate staff. The protesters, angry over a film that ridiculed Islam's Prophet Muhammad, were firing gunshots and rocket-propelled grenades.

"I strongly condemn the outrageous attack on our diplomatic facility in Benghazi, which took the lives of four Americans, including Ambassador Chris Stevens," President Obama said in a statement Wednesday morning. "Right now, the American people have the families of those we lost in our thoughts and prayers. They exemplified ...

U. Servant, looks like we're in close agreement when it comes to your last post.
Caroline Glick wrote:
A word about the much mentioned film about Muhammad is in order. The film was apparently released about a year ago. It received little notice until last month when a Salafi television station in Egypt broadcast it.

In light of the response, the purpose of the broadcast was self-evident. The broadcasters screened the film to incite anti-American violence.

Had they not been interested in attacking the US, they would not have screened the film.

They sought a pretext for attacking America. If the film had never been created, they would have found another – equally ridiculous – pretext.

Study up. The assassination was a planned terrorist attack that had NOTHING to do with the trailer for the film on you tube. (there is no film by the way, has not been made)You can be sure the protestors and flag burners are paid by terrorist. The only one to blame for the killing of innocent people is those who put them to death, they chose to kill them, there are obviously more sane choices that can be made. And who is Kaddafi? Romans 3:18 There is no fear of God before their eyes.

As far as the film is concerned, ‘Innocence of Muslims’: The film that may have sparked U.S. Embassy protests. Even this article shows some dhimmitude, q.v., Submission is all in your dhimmitude. We need to remember, The Two Kinds of Dhimmis.

One can never tell where a conversion will happen, Phenn, appreciate your testimony and perhaps one day we will see the testimony of your co-worker on, Why Muslims become Christians

I believe God was the one doing all the real work by His grace. But these simple meetings went on for several months. This kind of work demonstrates to us that "faith" is an extraordinary power within - NOT of our own making.
Is the young man a Christian today? I'm afraid I left that contract before I could discern that about him. But I know that he had many questions and was definitely seeeking. My hope and prayers have always been that God answered his questions and his prayers. There was also a group of other Christians there for example from S.Korea and other places. So God has not given up on the muslim countries. ALL glory to His Name in Christ.
Amen Phen, and thanks for sharing that lovely testimony. It's always been true that "whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely".

Not biblical.
Yes, I agree with you; there is a time when the Holy Spirit will desire that we not go somewhere, but application of that is something that we need to be very careful about. It could be my neighbor's house or it could be North Korea. "We shall all give an account" and He knows our hearts and desires. I was careful to say you "seemed" to be saying something. I took you out of context and thanks for the clarification.

Acts 16:6. Now when they had gone throughout Phrygia and the region of Galatia, and were forbidden of the Holy Ghost to preach the word in Asia, 7 After they were come to Mysia, they assayed to go into Bithynia: but the Spirit suffered them not.

You have no idea how pathetic I think mission groups are who aren't bold but subtle!

Phen, I tend to agree with you about going into these hostile environments. I know of no scripture that says if an area is hostile to the gospel then we then have an excuse not to go. John seems to be implying that if our witness would result in death, then God is shutting the door. I think that would be “us” shutting the door. We are to go into all the world and preach the gospel and it doesn’t say we should restrict that to safe places. To me an open door is if I am led to go and I can get into the country in question. The Lord knows my heart; therefore He will certainly know if I am insincere. If I am led to go and death, persecution or imprisonment are the things that stop me, then I am not trusting and relying on the Lord. Our responsibility is to go and the outcome is His responsibility, not mine. If the door is shut, then I can’t get there.

we have all known that Al Queda took control, and what are we surprised about?

would you not expect this kind of behavior when you bring Al Queda into a country?

I am very sorry for the families of these public servants.....

Nor should we forget the number of times reference to the killing of Bin Laden occurred during the Democrat Convention. I wouldn't suppose that had anything to do with ticking off the crazies.

Phen, thank you. And....

1. Correct.
2. Correct.
3. Despite the commission, God does not always desire the gospel to go to all lands at all times. There is a season for all things, and if God shuts the door, he has given men over to reprobation and damnation. If you wish to go back out to the middle east and preach the gospel, let me know when, and I will pray you at least have a decent funeral.
4. Interesting point. When I was first saved, I did indeed think the Christian life was easy, being full of the euphoria and wrapped up in the love of God and filled with the Spirit. But life's journey has taught me that it is not so for the ongoing traveller. The pilgrim has many battles to face, sins to defeat, love to maintain, and politicians to put up with.... (er....pray for!)

Matt 5:9 Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.

Thank you all for your responses.

If I might say, There is one God with whom we have to do. There is one ten commandments, by which men will be judged.

"Thou shalt not kill" is basic to human life.

Moslems are killing machines, always have been, always will be. Conversion is their only hope, but missionaries sent to tell them about Christ are murdered wholesale. They make laws in their "own" countries outlawing the gospel. Do not be deceived by propaganda. Bow down to them out of fear for your life at their hands, and they have won the battle for world domination. Islam will not rest until Sharia law is settled in every nation on earth. The Islam threat is NOT the exclusive domain of militants, it is the whole Moslem population who are behind it, backed by their "holy" book.

There is a spiritual warfare afoot here, and I believe many folks are beginning to realise it. We currently have freedom of speech in the west, and I am a big supporter of that. The Moslem wants to take that away from me, and impose "religion" on me and my country, a religion that I and many others do NOT want.

My recommendation is for all allies to pull out of these eastern countries, and let them kill each other. And if they should as much as approach a western state, well.....

jpw, you seem to forget that Muslims are the biggest killer of Muslims, besides every other religious or non-religious persuasion there is. Islam: The Religion of Peace Considering The forgotten Christians of the East, Iraq and Afghan adventures were supposedly done to contain terrorism, except of the nominal Christians of the Middle East. Oh, and if Bush Jr. & Co. defended their oil interests they succeeded in taking care of the interest closest to their hearts.
