Powerful 7.1 earthquake strikes Mexico City

A magnitude 7.1 earthquake jolted central Mexico on Tuesday, collapsing some buildings, cracking the facades of others and scattering rubble on streets on the anniversary of a devastating 1985 quake.

The quake caused buildings to sway sickeningly in Mexico City and sent panicked office workers streaming into the streets, but the full extent of the damage was not yet clear. Mexican media broadcast images of several collapsed buildings in heavily populated parts of the city.

Kids trapped in crumpled school

So sad - dogs sniffing for more people while "¬°silencio!" Calls quiet crowd while sound techs try to locate those buried under tons of rock Claustrophobic!
Trying so hard in the Heat & dust - gives me the willies as they call out
"¬° negativo!" Meaning no sound/ signs of life.
Hope in that they had one kid in sight & rescued 3 from that effort but brings tears to my eyes seeing a literal bucket brigade moving a little rock at a time while TONS are trapping.

Vision of destruction of Rev 6"14 the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places. 15And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; 16And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: 17For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?"

in an Age of the Earth Debate, the former president of EEGS, Environmental and Engineering Geophysical Societ -was asked,
Q.
" if the earth really were young, and had recently experienced a global flood, that would mean that geologists should give governments greater warnings about earthquake risks, so do you think we should do that? "
A.
"yes,
governments should be warned of earthquake risks greater than that predicted by old-earth assumptions."
Since that debate 2/28/2004 the world has not only seen the recent quakes that made the headlines like in Italy and Haiti, but four of the top ten most powerful quakes in the last 100 years have hit since that recent debate:
- 2004-12-26 Mag. 9.1 Off Coast of Sumatra
- 2005-3-28 Mag. 8.6 Northern Sumatra
- 2007-9-12 Mag. 8.5 Southern Sumatra
- 2011-3-11 Mag. 9.0 Off Coast of Japan
& etc
Since 9-11, when the terrible casualty count was about 3,000 dead from terrorism, governments have spent more than a trillion dollars attempting to minimize risk of further such deaths. In contrast, the quake casualties in the decade since our debate stand at 750,000 dead from earthquakes. That's 68,000 deaths per year- and growing!
The earth is young& unsettled.
NOT billions of years old-unsettling idea to Evilutionists-
Post Flood vibes.

I am very interested in studying Geological Science. So it stands to reason that I am very interested in earthquakes and how they occur.

John F. Walvoord wrote:
The importance of Augustine to the history of amillennialism is derived from two reasons. First, there are no acceptable exponents of amillennialism before Augustine, as has been previously discussed. Prior to Augustine, amillennialism was associated with the heresies produced by the allegorizing and spiritualizing school of theology at Alexandria which not only opposed premillennialism but subverted any literal exegesis of Scripture...

The second reason for the importance of Augustinian amillennialism is that his viewpoint became the prevailing doctrine of the Roman Church, and it was adopted with variations by most of the Protestant Reformers along with many other teachings of Augustine. The writings of Augustine, in fact, occasioned the shelving of premillennialism by most of the organized church....

(TMC) This is interesting:
Mark 13:14 But when ye shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not, (let him that readeth understand,) then let them that be in Judaea flee to the mountains:

Luke 21:20 And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh. Then let them which are in Judaea flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto.

Gill‚Äôs Commentary: ‚Äú...accordingly it is observed, that many did flee about this time; (just before the Roman seige of Jerusalem) and it is remarked by several interpreters, and which Josephus takes notice of with surprise, that Cestius Gallus having advanced with his army to Jerusalem, and besieged it, on a sudden, without any cause, raised the siege, and withdrew his army, when the city might have been easily taken; by which means a signal was made; and an opportunity given to the Christians, to make their escape: which they accordingly did, and went over Jordan, as Eusebius says, to a place called Pella; so that when Titus came a few months after, there was not a Christian in the city, but they had fled as they are here bidden to.‚ÄĚ

A John MacArthur sermon, which isn't short!
The Church, the Tribulation, and the Rapture.

Here is some reading material by him short enough for many of you to read through, but still way too long to put up in its entirety here.

John MacArthur wrote:
So our Lord clarifies the issue of His return and establishing the Kingdom by saying, there will be time that passes, that time will manifest the same disastrous conditions that have been a part of life on this planet since the Fall of man. Wars and disasters and disorders and distress and it will go on for an extended period of time. Believers will be subjected to persecution and even martyrdom. False Christs, false prophets will fill up history with their deception before He comes....

If you break this passage up, you can break it up a number of ways, the first two verses talk about the destruction of the temple. And then verses 3 through 13, which we’ll look at tonight, talk about present history. And then verses 14 through 23 talk about the future specific Tribulation time. And then from verse 24 on, it speaks of His Second Coming.

Part of Mark 13 discusses events of the 1st Century A.D., and part of it deals with end-time events. Passages such as this are why we must rightly divide the word of truth.

So about Mark 13, if we can have a civilized discussion... But isn't it talking about events during apostles times and not a future event?

Like verse 1 is about the temple torn down
Then it talks about earthquakes and false Christ's
And then put's the context on how apostles would be persecuted, seems to me that already happened.

Verse 14 I think is clear that it is for the future, but anything before that just doesn't make sense if it is still to come.

Mark 13:7-8
And when you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be alarmed. This must take place, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be earthquakes in various places; there will be famines. These are but the beginning of the birth pains.---ESV

It should make you think anyway!
