Florida school district replaces football chaplains with "life coaches"

Troy Schmidt’s jaw dropped. A few minutes before, he had been preparing to start his seventh year as chaplain for the Olympia High School football team in Florida. But now, those plans had been changed – radically changed.

“I received a call from the coach,” Schmidt told me. “He said Orange County Public Schools is no longer allowed to have chaplains as a part of the football program.”

Schmidt, who is a campus pastor of the First Baptist Church of Windermere, Florida, listened as the football coach explained the district’s decision to cleanse Christianity from its ranks. ...

I can identify with your, "Well that's good to hear any..." and it brings me to interesting considerations of how some thoroughly ungodly and wicked, willfully sinning people can still have matters they are revolted by, that ought revolt us too.

The sexually immoral pagans in Corinth would be an example, in my words they would be revolted, it likely would have been unheard of by them, that a man sexually having his father's wife

That revulsion didn't mean in the least they knew God and were right with Him in the least, did it

Let's do pray, fervantly in all the faith God Himself gives us in His word and by the work of the Holy Spirit living in and filling us, for our lost loved ones, that our Father would bring them, sovereignly make them completely thoroughly sickened, nauseated, heart broken, revolted of their own sins against Him, such that it leads them to repentance and saving faith in Christ

AND that He prepare our hearts in faith to REJOICE at His Mercy to hear and answer in Almight Soverign Power even for people like us who are so undeserving and unworthy of such amazing grace.

Well, that's good to hear anyway...I didn't know that. Maybe those convictions will get stronger and stronger with time. A piece of good fruit here and there shouldn't fool us into thinking it's good to eat when we can see that the rest of the tree is rotted and over run with bugs and disease.

John, if you are truly "convicted and repulsed" by parts of the mass, then I urge you to leave and renounce the RC"C". Learn what the Bible teaches and find a church that is faithful to God's word.

I guess what concerns me is that as a born again Christian, and knowing what the mass itself is about and represents, I just couldn't sit there and not feel convicted and repulsed. We are who we align ourselves with. To be a born again Christian yet call myself a Roman Catholic; knowing that their doctrines and rituals are fully anti biblical and anti God, well, I would just never be able to reconcile that in my mind. To embrace Christ is to love Him and do as He commands, and He commands us to have no.fellowship with darkness. Anti biblical traditions, a man claiming to be Christ on earth, doctrines that contradict God's own Word, and rituals that defy Christ and pay homage to a queen of Heaven are darkness.

It is only in your warped mind that I am not Born Again. According to Baptist teaching I am Born Again and saved because I embraced Jesus as Savior during an Altar Call at my brothers church.

John Yurich, that is great that you pray to Christ, because He is the mediator to the Father, not any men. However, if those around you are practicing paganism, to participate with them communicates something entirely different. A typical church goer may not be in any better position, with so much compromise in 501c3 churches today, but right here at SA are many who have left their churches when they teach false theology. Why would you want to participate with their false testimony? Your story has never made sense to me. Why not be forthright about the whole thing? I am unsure what point you are even trying to make? -- certainly you know and have read the scriptures and know that salvation is not just a prayer but a new man?

Good for you Chris in not going to an idolatrous, blasphemous 'mass'.
We have not set foot in a roman catholic pagan worship building since being saved.
Not even for parents or family funerals and weddings.
CHRIST is daily blasphemed in those superstitious, devilish, pagan places of worship where necromancy is practiced.

I guess what concerns me is that as a born again Christian, and knowing what the mass itself is about and represents, I just couldn't sit there and not feel convicted and repulsed. A couple of weeks ago, a mass was being said for a family friend of my wifes. These masses are indulgences to get the dead out of Purgatory sooner; prayer fir the dead. I explained this to my wife once again and refused to go.

It is a fallacy to state that Sunday is the Christian Sabbath. There is only one Sabbath and that is the 7th day Sabbath on Saturday that Christians are not supposed to observe. Sunday is the Lord's Day. Jesus followers ceased observing the Sabbath after Jesus death and changed to worshipping on Sunday. The sixth commandment states not to murder. Well anger is not murder.

Christopher: I will still gain entrance into Heaven regardless if I don't leave the RCC as I trust in Jesus alone for salvation which is the only requirement for salvation.

I harbor a hatred for the doctrines, dogmas, and rituals of the Roman machine which have led and are leading multitudes to their destruction because they have placed the fate of their eternal souls in the hands of a mere man and a church. They have entrusted their salvation and final resting place to these; refusing to find out what God Himself has to say. Refusing to open their bibles to investigate these things, and refusing to listen to anyone who speaks out against the fatal heresies and abominations. Nobody here hates Roman Catholics, but rather, the man and church which enslaves them, along with the doctrines and rituals that are straight from the pit of hell. Eyes wide shut. John, quick question...you revere Luther and claim that being filled and led by the Holy Spirit, he was incapable of error. Luther could not have led any reformation if he had not come out of her first. Being led by the Holy Spirit himself to come out, why haven't you followed suit since Luther couldn't be in error?

I've said this before but government schools and other institution will always return to its atheistic vomit when pushed comes to shove. Our government is atheistic in nature, when Mikey Weinstein calls, the government will jump because they agree with his argument. " choose you this day whom you will serve..."

Not a problem here for me. Many people have life coaches. Chaplain always sounded a bit Catholic for me, anyway. And I am surprised they allow that in a public high school. But then, when it comes to football, it does approach a religious level of devotion.

Is football a lawful calling? Considering that the professional kind voilates the fourth commandment as well as the sixth commandment. In that we are called to preserve life and not vainly put our bodies risk of perminant injuries..
Well since the fourth commandment was done away with when Jesus was Crucified then Christians are not supposed to observe the fourth commandment(Observing the Sabbath). Sunday is the Lord's Day and not the Sabbath. Since when does football violate the sixth commandment against murder?
