Chinese Pastor Faces 10 Years in Prison for Protesting Cross Removal

A Chinese pastor could receive a 10-year prison sentence for protesting China‚Äôs cross removal campaign. Huang Yizi is accused of ‚Äúgathering to assault a state organ.‚ÄĚ

Christian Today reports Huang arranged a protest against the removal of a cross from Salvation Church in Wenzhou. In the July 21 protest, 1,000 church members formed a human shield around the church to prevent a crane from coming in and removing the religious symbol. The cross was later taken down on August 14.

When the government sanctions and encourages the murder of babies it is not only biblical to protest but anything but opposition would be sin. When the government turns a blind eye to injustice by some but not according to law it is biblical and Christian to oppose it. When our founders fought the injustice of Great Britain they were right to do so. God blessed this nation that now turns it's back on Him whose mercy gave us so much. Take a stand and stand with God no matter what it costs you.

Looking at it from another angle, maybe the pastors rage was over the assault against God. Maybe it's not so much about the removal of a symbol, but rather, he was fed up with the all around mocking, forbidding to worship freely, and the overall persecution of the church in general. I just feel like there was more to it in his mind and that he wouldn't risk imprisonment for a meaningless piece of wood, but would risk it to take a stand for God, and to express his disgust against those who hate Him. (?)

The Bible says in 1 Peter 2 verses 13 and 14:
Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme; Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well.

I still say:
Protesting against the government is not Biblical Christianity.

Actually Both!
As King Herod would have been part of the Roman system.

Forgive me, Good Morning to you as well! I am on the phone

Ever hear of ....... John the Baptist?
Protesting (preaching against evil and sin) assembling to peaceably bring valid grievance before the state, that the state might ammend its ways, is quite a bit different from lawless rebellion against the state to overthrow it.
We all might well consider if the right to peaceably assemble to address grievances is taken away such injustice breeds rebellion not peace
