Why You May Want to Ditch Your Low-Fat Diet for Good

If you're cutting back on all fats in your diet, you may be doing yourself more harm than good. That's the upshot of the latest nutritional research that concludes some fats are not only good for us, but they can actually help shed pounds.

In fact, avoiding such fats—in favor of low-fat, high-carb alternatives—can promote weight gain.

Confused? Join the club. For decades, health experts have advised choosing low-fat and fat-free foods—such as margarine, skim milk and unsaturated cooking oils—to lose weight and boost overall health. But that line of one-size-fits-all health advice is being challenged by new studies showing fat is not the great dietary evil we've been led to believe it is. ...

Thank you all for your prayers! May you all be blessed from heaven's bounty and may God cause your health to prosper even as your souls prosper! May God fill our mouths with good things, that our youth be renewed as the eagle's!

"Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.

Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:

Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;

Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;

Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's.

The Lord executeth righteousness and judgment for all that are oppressed."

~ Psalm 103:1-6 KJV

Thank you for all your prayers!
I went to the doctor and it turned out that I have an ear infection and was prescribed medicated ear drops. I wasn't in a hurry to go to the doctor, so the infection caused problems in the surrounding areas. I'll have to go off the Methotrexate till the infection clears up, so my body can fight it.
I would appreciate continued prayers (if God places me upon your heart). The Rheumatoid Arthritis has disfigured my hands, arms, ankles, toes etc. My left hip has been replaced and both of my knees. My arms are so disabled I am not able to dress myself or wash my own hair. I am very dependant on others.
Thank you all for your encouragement and prayer support!
"And Jesus answered and said to them, 'It is not those who are well who need a physician, but those who are sick." ~ Luke 5:31 NASB
Thanks for letting us know, Jessica. Will continue prayer for full recovery from the ear infection.

Your spiritual strength in the face of physical weakness has always been an encouragement and blessing to me.

My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 2 Cor 12:9

Thanking our good Lord and Saviour Jessica, that it was an ear infection and nothing too serious.
Also giving thanks and praise that he has given you a husband who can attend to your most basic needs.
Not making light of your situation, just seeing the goodness of God in it.
Will upon remembrance continue to pray for you dear sister in the Lord.
"Lord, behold, she whom thou lovest is sick"

I take a supplement of essential fatty acids, either 3-6-9 or fish oils. And, I like to use real butter not margarine.
Yet no matter what I eat, I still do not seem to be able to maintain my health. I am asking for praying, as I have been quite ill since Saturday. I am on the chemotherapy drug methotrexate for rheumatoid arthritis — and I went to a harvest type fair last Friday and visited with a lot of chickens and rabbits in a large barn. That night my eyes were really watering and I have been sick with recurring eye, ear, and neck pain and a headache since then. Last night the left side of my head was burning and I was in agony.
I have an appointment with my doctor today, please pray for me!

Real sorry to hear of your health issues. May The Lord be pleased to restore your health soon. Praying for ya.

Jessica, I not only wish you well, but wellness.

I get enough exercise that I can eat at a fast food place (nice greasy hamburgers) and I don't worry about cholesterol, but people who can do 9 miles on an excercise bike 6 days of week, may have to find other ways to eat.

Jessica, this is a private matter, I'll see if I can provide a link to contact me later.... but I guess I'm concerned and can sympathize with your difficulties. how on earth can chemotherapy help someone with arthritis? (it rarely helps with cancer???)

So sorry to hear what you are enduring, dear sister. Sounds like an allergic reaction to the animals you were exposed to.

You will be in my thoughts and prayers today.

Penny, indeed a challenge! Though my 5yr old has got a start. She ran up to me and told me she stuck two dead crickets in the freezer. Turns out she wasn't lying. My children are wanting chocolate covered grasshoppers :

Observer, you're welcome

Penny, it's a specialty of Beatrix Potter's.
I see grasshoppers as survival food-wouldn't eat unless I had to. I guess if it ever came to that, might as well try ladybird sauce?!

SF, I've had fried grasshopper before. It was alright, wouldn't eat it unless I had to probably, but I imagine some enjoy the taste. Its the ladybird sauce I was unfamiliar with.

Nobody seems to be interested in that Evolutionary journal NGS magazine, so here's a video, around 4 minutes long not about bugs, about what bugs like fruit and vegetables, which you should like too, http://www.abc.net.au/news/2014-08-20/nutrition-expert-professor-yves-desjardins-talks/5682868 (Nutrition expert Professor Yves Desjardins talks to News Breakfast).

Ignore the comment on the bottom of the video about breaking news, that news has broken.
