What A Concept: Governor Makes Able-Bodied Food Stamp Recipients Work For Benefits
Under a new policy proposed by Maine Gov. Paul LePage (R), most able-bodied food stamp recipients will be required to work 20 hours per week or volunteer for a community agency, the Washington Post reports.

It’s such a logical policy, it’s amazing that more states haven’t gone to this model, especially in light of budget crises and increased strain on community agencies. As the Governor stated:

“People who are in need deserve a hand up, but we should not be giving able-bodied individuals a handout. We must continue to do all that we can to eliminate generational poverty and get people back to work. We must protect our limited resources for those who are truly in need and who are doing all they can to be self-sufficient.” ...

Perhaps, Mike of N.Y., he's going to wait and see if Congress is going to raise minimum wages, before he supports it, http://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2014/07/a-mile-in-shoes-of-the-minimum-wage-worker-109418.html?ml=po_r#.U9ZGWqgdXyJ(I Tried to Live on Minimum Wage for a Week).

Get Real, I assume people who want workfare should make sure people on welfare who are blatant criminals, get around the same amount of money at the very least, they had on welfare, No, I would be the first to agree you can't "Live The Wage" given as minimum wage. But workfare handled properly is not slavery.

Anyway, Mike, you'll have to find something else to complain about the President about, especially until something is done about minimum wages.

slavery has been around longer than that ...

re branding slavery and blaming the ill and infirm for existing, we can just move all "lazy good for nothings" to a tent on the other side of "The Beach" so we don't have to hear them screaming in agony crying for mom, then just call them lazy good for nothings and carry on ... I got mine go f*** yourself mentality ...

so because some people game the system, you are too lazy to weed out the needy from the greedy, God will be "lazy" back at ya~!

Vast majority of food stamp recipients work for, wal mart, mc donalds, 2 out of 3 food stamp recipients are children so starve them children~! starve them~! they deserve it for having lousy fail parents who can't earn~! starve them~!

if they got rid of all the bureaucrats and sent the money straight to the recipients they would get 70 to 100k a year, but we got chair moisteners in sector C whom need the job and medical and retirement and do nothing all day but post on reddit and surf the web at work making 70 to 100k a year, and gripe and slander their "clients" the poor who apply for aide ....

lets drug test them~!! yeah ... they have no medical and have to beg for pain killers on the street to endure the agony dying by degrees with no help, they can starve their children too~!
