Mimicking Supermodels, Christian Girls Posting Seductive Selfies
Sadly, we live in a culture that "trains" our minds to view seductiveness as the norm from a very young age. Just take a quick walk through the mall and you'll see poster after poster featuring models striking a sexual pose. Since the invention of Pinterest, Instagram and other apps, sexualized images are in our faces more than ever before.

As Christian girls, we're being bombarded by our culture's message that seductive and sexual poses are cool, hip and normal. Taking seductive selfies isn't raunchy anymore... it's acceptable and praised. Since we live in a fallen world it makes sense that our culture praises and encourages girls to act this way.

The question I have for you is this: Why in the world are Christian girls posting seductive selfies? ...

Nicely put,Christopher as was it with Mike. God isn't a killjoy and He cares so much for us. Christopher, you may be the only Christian that your wife will know. No matter what the outcome, if you abide in Christ, you can be sure that the benefits of staying will always outweigh the consequences of leaving. Of course, we don't obey God for the reward but because we love Him. We'll never know what may have happened if we lose heart and run. Keep persevering!

Thanks Mike and SC. I'm.glad.ti be set straight on something...Christian couples having problems just like anyone else. I really never considered that side of it. I always imagined that everyone is always happy, smiling, and not really arguing, etc. Sounds a bit silly, but that's all I ever saw in my minds eye. I guess I want so much to be happy and spend so much time considering regrets; wondering about all the what ifs, that I lost touch with reality a bit. People are people, no matter who they are or what they believe, and will all struggle. The difference is with Christ as head of the household and the focus being on Him, those struggles are handled much different and they tend to strengthen rather than pull apart. "A family that prays together stays together" God is the glue that holds it all together, and is what makes a marraige special.

I understand and agree, its just the way the article starts out that gets me.

Thank you, Dorcas. All the counsel in the world is useless without prayer.
...in our prayers, Christopher.
Again, thank you, Dorcas for your kind words.

Christopher, I can certainly empathize with you. I think that you would be very surprised to know what really goes on even amongst the strongest Christian couples regardless of what's on the surface. You do recognize that you shouldn't have married someone who was not a Christian. Of course, God is very clear that we should not be unequally yoked. However, as you stated, the deal is done. God's view of marriage is not the same as the world's. What is most important to God is not our happiness but His conforming us to His Son. If we are obedient and focus on Him, He is very gracious to fill in the gap...really! I realize that living in this culture makes it all the more difficult on married couples...which is why we, all the more, need to put aside anything which would cause us to stumble. Please remember that we walk by faith and not by sight (easier said than done, I will attest). Of course, it will appear that your wife will never change...and she may not but God is trustworthy and if you persevere, you will, ultimately, be better for it and save yourself any regrets that you might incur by "bailing out". If your wife is a RC, she is unlikely saved...but weren't we all prior to Salvation? There is hope! God bless you and yours!

P.S. I don't think the article was arguing that these children don't have a choice. It was merely pointing out how badly sex has been promoted in our culture.

I can't even imagine what it's like to have a spouse who I could talk over the bible with, tell me to hurry or we'll be late for church, or have Christ as a priority, or even take Him seriously for that matter.
It may sound like a happy go lucky life Chris, and we are truly blessed. But I didn't convey the awful years of stuff we both went through before we were brought together as husband and wife. It will sound clichéd, but indeed after the night the dawn does come. I pray the Lord will lead you to see that sunrise.

The article begins "sadly we live in that"trains' our minds....yes by all means let the victimhood begin...the people who wrote the new testament lived in a culture where sex was public and part of "religous" worship and yet nowhere does one find any indication of victimhood in the new testament.

People then had a choice and people today have a choice.

Yes that's certainly a lot of the problem. All I was trying to say is that technology is not the problem as you insuated in the quoted post. Even if they were living in some stone hut somewhere, they would find some evil way to express their sensuality.

Yeah, that's been my normal way of thinking throughout life, but in this case, I knew I was wrong to re-marry who I did. Religion aside, I waited a whopping 7 years to ask her because I saw many red flags. In the end, I figured they were things I could deal with, she could change, etc. I was wrong. I was very, very wrong and I realized how bad her issues really were once we were married...once the deal was sealed. Tricky. Bottom line is that I knew, even then, that I was going against God's will and have been living a nightmare. Well, I figure that's what I get, but what I can't figure out is if He wants me out or to continue living in misery so He can reach her one day, which seems.very, very bleak. Being RC, she feels she's all set after baptism and attending mass as she lives amongst the lost in word and deed each day.

Not a problem in a household where the parents don't wimp out and give them an iPhone, iPad,etc.... They still sell flip phones without any cameras or video attachments. I own one works great for making calls and receiving them... Problem solved...

Ipads and Iphones are tools that can be used for either right or wrong. They are a-moral. The real problem is that parents have lost their childrens hearts. That's the problem.

I wish you well Christopher and others. You may want to consider that words are cheap and the grass may appear to be greener on the other side. God has placed you where you are for a reason. Sometimes it's the trials that change us and, ultimately, fulfill God's will for us. We learn lessons in them that God knows we would not learn any other way. Hopefully, we are receptive to that. Stay close to the Lord and your actions will speak volumes more than could your words alone to your wife.

The more mature women need to be an example to the younger women in virtue, modesty, gentleness, and in living a life of holiness before God and humankind - nurturing our families, giving to the poor, and behaving with humility. May our lives be a plumbline, a testimony, which makes the crooked places straight through the Hand of the Almighty! All praise and thanks be to God, halleluiah!
