Family Behind Hobby Lobby Has New Project: Bible Museum
The evangelical Christian family that owns Hobby Lobby, the chain of craft stores, made history two weeks ago when the Supreme Court overturned the Obama administration’s mandate that family-owned companies must provide contraceptive coverage to their employees.
Now, the family is looking to build a permanent presence on the Washington landscape, by establishing a sprawling museum dedicated to the Bible — just two blocks south of the National Mall.
The development of a Bible museum has long been a dream of the Oklahoma-based Green family, which has built Hobby Lobby into a $3 billion company in which its religious beliefs infuse every aspect of the business, from the music played in its stores to being closed on Sundays....
i look forward to the opening of the museum. maybe they could open one of their stores nearby. or not locate the museum in DC, but in Branson Missouri, where they will likely find many fellow-minded folk. or near the Answers in Genesis museum. Or in Salt Lake City, Utah, where they could have lots of interesting discussions with Mormons.
This is a good article, in that it isn't gushing about how wonderful it would be to have the museum in Washington D.C. It pointed out some potential problems such as health insurance for employees? It's put there to influence Congress. No worry about that, influencing a politician with something other than sex or money isn't going to work.
But, really Washington government is looking forward to the revamping and use of the building that the museum will be in. It's not a bad choice to place the museum, and we can only wish the Green family well with this project. Anyway, look over the article.
