Phil Proctor remembers pastoral visits to Bowe Bergdahl’s home more than a decade ago. In 2003, Bergdahl was a teenager living with his parents and older sister in their rural home in Hailey, Idaho. Proctor was pastor of Sovereign Redeemer Presbyterian Church, an Orthodox Presbyterian (OPC) congregation in Boise.
The Bergdahls built their home in a picturesque valley, filled it with books, and homeschooled their children. Proctor remembers the family—including Bowe—as rugged, outgoing, and highly intelligent.
More than 10 years later, the rural family has seized international attention: On Saturday, a group of Taliban militants released Bowe Bergdahl—now a sergeant in the U.S. Army—after holding him captive for nearly five years....

Thanks for the info. Of course the Republican Party isn't Christian. As you know, neither is the Democrat Party. But since you don't want Christians involved in politics, shouldn't you be pleased that the GOP isn't Christian? You should make up your mind what it is you don't like.
I have heaped criticism, on Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, some on Lyndon Johnson etc. I happen to be a registered Independent, though thanks to The Tea Party, the John Birch Society..., I don't see any Republicans to vote for in Nebr. major offices.
Not all Christian women are fans of Palin. She's kinda like the danika patrick of politics, isn't she?...bit of a novelty. As far as Bergdahl: we only have an account of what our media wants to give us. This is supposed to be a country of free speech, at least, for now. It is entirely conceivable that this soldier did see a lot of ugly things and might have been disgusted with what he saw. We don't really know. We do know that this country likes to feed us what they care to feed us. We're not exempt from propaganda and I dare say that we could be the model for it.
VanPastorMan, Jim never misses an opportunity to demonize Republicans and sing the praises of Democrats even when it has nothing to do with the subject at hand. He especially likes to defend the indefensible actions of the Impostor from Kenya no matter how much he lies or steals or ignores his oath of office to the Constitution. If Satan was a Democrat, and I believe he is their party chief since they support abortion and sexual perversion, Jim would be his biggest advocate. He probably blames even the killing of Able on George W.
Sarah Palin is a disgrace. She goes around presenting herself as a Christian yet she openly blasphemes God's word (Titus 2.5). She has an able-bodied husband. She ought to be at home raising those children God gave her instead of trying to run the world. Worst of all, the very people who ought to be disgusted by her - "Christian" women - are her biggest fans.
“There are still the Neanderthals out there, who pick on the petty little superficial meaningless things like looks, like whether you can or can’t work outside of the home if you have small children. All those type of things where I would so hope that at some point, uh, those Neanderthals, will evolve into something a bit more, um, with it, a bit more modern, and a bit more understanding that, yeah, woman can accomplish much…” - Sarah Palin
Jim, that article on Sarah Palin was just garbage. Also how exactly is Sarah Palin a failed mother? If you are talking about her daughter having a child out of wedlock, then you have to point to Sarah and Todd's permissiveness or lack of Christian morality to make such a claim. Could it be that Bristol just sinned on her own? At least she didn't get an abortion.

According to that 2012 profile,America's Last Prisoner of War by the late Michael Hastings, Bergdahl was homeschooled in a strict Calvinist household, and his family became ardently antiwar as they campaigned for his release—to the point that they expressed many sentiments that appear to be sympathetic to the Taliban.
So, if you read the article that SA put up, as well as the one I have put up, you would have had many of your questions answered.
This story looks set to run for some time and if they prove that Bergdahl did desert his fellow soldiers then he is going to face a storm from people. His family seem to have some Christian faith which their son apparently does not share. So they too may have a battle to face in the future over their son's actions.
The children of Christian parents can be part of Satan and sin's attack upon Christians which makes it worse when dealing with your own family as "the enemy."
Matt 10:35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. 36 And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.
Luke 12:51 Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division: 52 For from henceforth there shall be five in one house divided, three against two, and two against three. 53 The father shall be divided against the son, and the son against the father; the mother against the daughter, and the daughter against the mother; the mother in law against her daughter in law, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
