Religious parents ‘could be criminalised’ under new law

A sweeping parenting law, which may be included in the Queen’s Speech tomorrow, could criminalise parents with strict religious beliefs, a columnist has warned.

The so-called “Cinderella law” would carry a maximum prison sentence of ten years for anyone who deliberately harms a child’s “physical, intellectual, emotional, social or behavioural development”.

Writing in The Times, Libby Purves commented, “we have a record of insouciant, well-meant legal drafting; and once something is enshrined in law it can cause problems either by reckless enforcement or by palpable unenforceability”. ...

Fantastic! That should end the teaching of evolutionism, right?

By & large, I think countries like ours, with popular suffrage, get exactly the sort of leaders voters are comfortable with. They are not "out of touch," they are giving voters what they want.

"...by a free country I mean a country where people are allowed, so long as they do not hurt their neighbours, to do as they like. I do not mean a country where six men may make five men do exactly as they like. That is not my notion of freedom." — Sir Robert Gascoyne Cecil

This is heresy today, both in Britain & America.

Stupid politicians and bureaucrats trying to force their silly ideas upon normal people again.

This is not nanny state. It is a demonstration of how politicians and bureaucrats are arrogant, stupid, out of touch, reactionary and ignorant of family and community life and how it is presently operating.

yet there is great power here because she is speaking for the new order. the fact that she would speak it now, is like an announcement.

The so called Queens speech is not her own words or laws she as no role or right under UK law to do such things . She is not an absolute monarch, her speech is nothing more than the godless government of the UK plan for legislation in the last year of government. She merely reads a list written for her by the prime minster. Her Christianity is like the church she claims to be head of false.

I believe the Queen started out as a Christian, but it sounds like she's lost her moorings.

She asks, “is it not potentially damaging to ‘intellectual development’ to bring up a child in a strict religious belief that daily contradicts the evolutionary science they learn at school?

Sorry, but the Queen seems a bit nutty. She also said, among other things, that denying a child computer games, etc, goes against the childs wishes and could be considered neglect.

Another "don't you dare deny or discipline your children law" which makes me think about the end times when children are turning on and turning their parents in to the authorities.

This is strange that Queen Elizabeth II who is supposedly the Head of the Church of England and is religious would be behind such a law like this.

Surely there must be some mistake... this couldn't possibly be coming from the same queen that has such an outstanding and upright and honorable family background as to be the one setting the perfect example in parenting... not the same Queen that owns 1/6 the entire land mass of the planet Earth and could and poverty and hunger personally... not the same Queen that has enough skeletons in her closet to fill Arlington Cemetery... surely not the same Queen that promotes inbreeding and conveniently does away with any chess piece that does not fit in the game plan... there must be some mistake... I mean after all... has not discipline then the typical order of the day for the Royals since records began being kept?
