French Catholic priest offering blessings for parishioners' smartphones

A Catholic priest in France has decided to offer blessings of parishioners' smartphones in an effort to draw more people to the church.

Frédéric Lequin, a priest in the town of Notre-Dame de Bellecombe, will offer up the blessing on Sunday June 8 during Pentecostal celebrations.

"We must remember that the blessing of communication devices is written into the tradition of the Church just like with boats, carts and all instruments of labor and animals," the priest told Le Progrès.

I'm not sure how SteveR could attack you for, Are We Really Catholic Bashing? or Mike Gendron who wrote this article because all of you fellows came out of the Catholic Church and into Christianity.

I think you understand I posted to you what I did for two reasons, one a gentle reproof of his ongoing false accusation, even if it is a very subtle one, and two an encouragement to you (others too) of how we are often falsely accused by Roman Catholics and their propagandists (ecumenicals too) of hating Catholics

IMHO the day of judgment will be telling, for those saved and delivered from Roman Catholicism great thankfulnes to God will pour forth and for the hardened unrepentant agonizing shame and terror of the eternal punishment of hell they will have for rejecting the love of the truth so as to be saved, of hating Jesus Christ as He really is without excuse and living in enmity and sin against Him, even if they practised the most sincere of godliness (religion) ever imaginable seeking to merit the eternal life they could only have as a free gift from God in the new birth in the Holy Spirit (not baby sprinkling btw)

I just realized I misread your pist, Michael. I thought you were asking when anyone ever accused me. Anyway, not so regular, but it does get mentioned from time to time when Steve snaps because Roman Catholocism is discussed so regularly. What's interesting is that, pretty much, all that ever gets discussed are provable facts so I never quite understand where the anger and hatred stem from.

Hmmmm?

Wow! It takes an absolute religious genius to wickedly imagine they are believing in Jesus when they diliberately refuse to believe what He Himself said and obey Him
- that's really trusting Him, right?
- that's real repentance, right?

Worse to lie about what He said

Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.

“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’

Seriously you two have eternal problems and need to repent before Almighy God
I have stated numerous times over and over again that I did repent during that Altar Call at my brother's Non Denominational Church in November 1997 when I embraced Jesus as Savior and started to trust in Jesus alone for salvation. Just because I have not left the RCC and do not attend an Evangelical Protestant Church doesn't mean I am not really saved. Church attendance is totally superfluous to salvation and entering Heaven upon ones demise. Jesus will only look at who trusted in Him alone for salvation in deciding who will enter Heaven.

By the way, concerning the articles topic...ridiculous, and equally ridiculous are the teachings that will have people flock to a priest doing the sign of the cross over their smartphones. Reminds me of burying a statue of some saint, upside down, by the way, to sell your home, the novenas I see in the newspapers by anonymous contributors, etc, etc. I don't believe my wife would make a special trip, but I don't doubt she would have her phone blesses if she happened upon the event. She, along with her friends and family, all Roman Catholics, are indistinguishable from anyone living in the world, but God forbid they ever miss a mass or don't observe Lent. They go through the motions that are ordered by the church but there is no evidence, whatsoever, of Christ in their lives. They are comfortable because their baptism and mass has earned them the redemption that Purgatory will purify them for.

Good point. The bible is available, read from, kissed, caressed, wrapped in gold, and seemingly held in the highest of esteem and respect....but, and it's a big BUT...the bible is only a reference, not the beginning and end of God's Word. The bible is not the be all and end all for everything concerning salvation, morals, God's laws, and Christian living. Tradition and dogma are equal to and many times, trump the very Word of God. That's not ok no matter how anyone tries to rationalize it and there's no comparison to some church having a pine tree under its roof. Should they? Probably not. Good, rational, logical comparison? Certainly not.

Hebrews 4:2 For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.
"not being mixed with faith in them that heard it"

That quote from Hebrews suggests that if as you say the Protestants have a better understanding - Then the Roman Catholic (did not profit them) doesn't have the gift of faith.

A very simple definition of what a Christian believes can be found in this short article, What are the “five solas,” and what do they mean?. Believing in any one of them makes you an anathema to the Romish Church. So, there are Irreconcilable Differences: Catholics, Evangelicals, and the New Quest for Unity. This idea doesn't wash with Christians.

Sandy ground? So you believe someone can be saved who does not understand the gospel? What do you do with:

Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Or consider the parable of the sower. The first man understands not the gospel, and was led away by satan. He was never saved since he never understood the gospel.

Matthew 13:19 When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side.

My argument is not that one must understand the doctrines of the reformation to be saved, but that one must at least understand the gospel. One must hear the true gospel to be saved, like Romans 10 teaches, or else the great comission makes no sense. Why is it important to spread the gospel, if one need not understand it to be saved? As for the theif on the cross, in a state of repentance he simply believed and was saved, just as scripture teaches for salvation
(Mark 1:15, Romans 10:9, Ephesians 2:8-9).

Luke 23:41 And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss. 23:42 And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. 23:43 An

SteveR,

The most important difference between the RCC and protestantism is the gospel. The RCC teaches a false gospel, and its adherents are trusting this false gospel for salvation. Since a true church is an assembly of believers, the RCC cant even be biblically considered a church, since they believe a lie for salvation. Its just an institution of people trusting in their works for salvation. Its true that apostacy had invaded the church today, but that does absolutely nothing to prove that the RCC is Christian, just because both sides made and make mistakes. I have no hatred or malice towards catholics, I just dont see how the RCC can be considered a church since it preaches and believes a false gospel (this also applies to protestant churches that do the same).

Surely you see where Im coming from, even if you disagree.

"A Catholic priest in France has decided to offer blessings of parishioners' smartphones in an effort to draw more people to the church."

"to draw more people to the church"???

I wonder if the papal antichrist has authorised this ludicrous joke?

The priest must be one can short of a six pack to think this up, but it is down to RC teaching and training.

Anybody who accepts the offer has to be at least gullible or at most stupid. But then look at the numbers who accept offers to join the RCC and then worship toast, bits of ancient dead bodies, icons and other pagan idolatries ..... the list of unbiblical practices goes on.

Many follow the papal antichrist ...
2Peter 2:1 But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. 2 And many shall follow their pernicious ways;

Pleeeeze
Protestants and Catholics are both guilty of robbing, torture and murder. Protestantism can trace its support to the aristocratic tradition of stealing RCC lands, torture and divorcing their wives. Ive seen quite a bit of repentance by the RCC over their mistakes, almost none by my people. My people still feel justified over their sins. I see it on this board, these people feel justified in their crimes against Catholics. The best you have on the RCC today is their fantasy over a piece of bread and fermented grape juice.

Jeremiah 7:8 Behold, ye trust in lying words, that cannot profit.

Jeremiah 7:9 Will ye steal, murder, and commit adultery, and swear falsely, and burn incense unto Baal, and walk after other gods whom ye know not;

Jeremiah 7:10 And come and stand before me in this house, which is called by my name, and say, We are delivered to do all these abominations?
