Baptism, worship declines prompt Southern Baptist leaders' prayers for 'renewed passion'
Southern Baptists experienced growth in the number of churches affiliated with the convention in 2013, while other key measures declined, according to the Annual Church Profile (ACP) compiled by LifeWay Christian Resources in cooperation with Baptist state conventions.

The number of churches in the Southern Baptist Convention grew by 91 to 46,125, a 0.2 percent increase over 2012. SBC churches also reported 4,789 church-type missions last year, a decline of 203 from 2012. However, some state conventions no longer use the designation of church-type mission, which may have impacted the total.

While the number of SBC churches increased, reported membership of those churches declined by 136,764, down 0.9 percent to 15.7 million members. Primary worship attendance declined 2.21 percent to an average of 5.8 million Sunday worshipers. ...

Michael, I hope I haven't given people the impression that I think I've have reached perfection, because I know I haven't. But taking note of,

Matthew 7
3 "And why do you look at the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?
4 "Or how can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' and behold, the log is in your own eye?
5 "You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye..---NASB

One has to use examples of people who are or were brothers here on earth, such as the Apostle Paul, and those who when you look at some of the people who check into this forum who are not. I don't try to answer them in kind, but I do want to point out errors to others not so much them, but to others pitfalls to avoid.

When a person who have been exposed to Christianity for years, and still spew forth heresy, I will at least try to point out the heresy.

Billy Graham, more that I look at him is he a Christian? he seems to have failed the 5 solas test. What are the “five solas,” and what do they mean?

There has never been a promise that even a good church will have hugh crowds, Rick Warren's Church may have huge crowds, but it is sadly lacking in preaching the the truth,

Didn't mean too.
But warning about Billy wasn't the point I wanted to make.

While it is easy to identify ecumenical religous celebrities and their leading people astry, it is much much harder to humbly seek God to fix us first

Wow! What an interesting article, one for a lot of soul searching, not just for Southern Baptists but for all of us, and I can put myself at the top of that list

The SBC is way mixed up and their Lifeway Reigious Bookstores too
There are SBs like Voddie Baucham all the way to false "profits" like Rick Warren (if memory serves he is actually a Southern Baptist)

A great contrast between two things

Prov 28:9
One who turns away his ear from hearing the law, Even his prayer is an abomination.

Isaiah 66
1 Thus says the Lord:
“Heaven is My throne, And earth is My footstool. Where is the house that you will build Me? And where is the place of My rest?
2 For all those things My hand has made, And all those things exist,”Says the Lord.
“But on this one will I look:
On him who is poor and of a contrite spirit, And who trembles at My word.

To cut to the chase
Big Business Religion (and it is just not the SBC) does not save people, nor build churches full of genuine converts on fire for obedience to the Lord Jesus Christ, maybe substitues like sophisticated culturally relevant (men pleasing) religious entertainment business centers, just not Biblical Churches

Rom 3:18
"There is no fear of God before their eyes.”
